Hi,

(1) Instability using the HUD - can't select weapons reliably; can't drag items to hotbar;
(2) Moving chars.  Won't go more than a few steps before they stop moving.  Have to re-press (and hold of course) the WASD keys (or whatever re-mapping I tried)

Keyboard is MS Wireless Keyboard 3000; Mouse is Wireless Laser Mouse 6000

If I program a mouse button for movement the problems seem to go away but this is not the solution I need.

If I replace the wireless mouse with a USB mouse the problems seem to go away but this is not the solution I need.

system runs MS Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+
4GB RAM (XP only sees 3.25GB)
DX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
GTS 250 1GB
1920x1080 32 bit 60Hz monitor

Any ideas please?

Thanks

okay, i just changed the properties under the keyboard settings -> speed (they were all for the fastest speed) and toned them down. this fixed the problem. not sure if they're related but figured id write this bc not a lot of discussion is about this issue

Hey thank you for this post - I have been having this problem also - also playing with a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse - tried to go and buy a different one but can you believe it the local supplier only had wireless!!!! This is not the only game that gave me this problem - Amalur Reckoning, and both KOTOR 1 & 2 - don't know how many times I got killed because my character parked off in the middle of a fight. I thought it was my graphics card (which is quite a good one).

I forgot - while playing Amalur it also helped if I pulled out the USB hub and cooled it off - when I plugged it back in again my controls seemed to be a bit more responsive.

Any time you cannot find anything in the archives newer than six months old, please leave it buried, and just include mention of the failure to find anything recent enough when you write your own report of a problem.

The majority of problems with keyboard and mouse responsiveness are related to the graphics cards.  The game uses a feature that is built into current cards to handle feedback, and old / slow cards won't work.  It is possible that a borderline graphics card may slip over the line into unusability with the addition of wireless connections.

Okay, this is really simple - my character started the step and stop nonsense and I put brand new batteries in the keyboard - the problem went away!!!! The batteries in the keyboard were fine for normal use but it seems for gaming one must have full strength batteries. Hope this helps - I just went out and found a really hot wired gaming keyboard so I shouldn't have this problem every again. As for the graphics card usually being the problem - as I previously mentioned I have a really good graphics card - played witcher 2 and Dragonage without problems - Mass Effect 2 is not the most recent game and I had problems with older games. TRY NEW BATTERIES.
