My party consists of "me", Sten, Morrigan, and Dog. Sten is wearing the heaviest armor, has Threat activated, and seemingly uses Taunt every 5 seconds. And groups of enemies will still swarm my light armor wearing Rogue and butcher her. I can't figure out how to get enemies to swarm Sten instead. Do dual-wielders have any "aggro talents" that are somehow attracting the enemy's attention? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Have you checked your tactics setup? You may want to setup a tactic slot that will have the other members of your party attack the mobs that are attacking you, or in Sten's case, a tactic slot that activates threat first then use taunt on anyone that's attacking you.

Hope this helps!

Also, keep in mind that the more damage a party member does, the more threat they attract to themselves. This means that even if Sten has all that aggro on him, if your rogue is doing more damage than him, odds are the enemies will go towards her.

Hmmnn... I'm not sure if my Rogue is doing more damage. I will check that out!

If she's not doing more damage I'll try MageTarot's suggestion. Thanks for the help, guys.

Yea, keep in mind that threaten and taunt only work until you attack someone - once you do, they view you as the threat, not the tank. You need to back off and let the tank draw them again.

Just to give you an example, on one battle with a Revenant I had Shale working as the tank (with Threaten activated) and the Revenant went right after her. However, as soon as my archer rogue unleashed an Arrow of Slaying on him (which did more damage than anything Shale had done up to that point), the Revenant went straight after my archer.

The same happened with my mage, who was dealing a lot more damage than everyone else.

Personally. I remove all the 'Agro' talents from Tactics, and hit something instead. Why Taunt when a maul upside the helm can have the same general effect?

As for Sten, have him attack enemies that are targetting the Warden; seems to make flanking easier for any possible bonuses.

The way threat is done is gimped in game.

Damage based threat is the only one being called.

As a mage use Mind Blast, as a Rouge use Feign Death to lose Aggro.

Yup. Having Sten and Dog target enemies that are eating my Warden's face and having my Warden not attack and having Sten draw the enemies has done wonders. Thanks everyone :)

Does this actually work for you?  I'll admit I've only tried it on bosses (namely Revanents) but they never believe I'm dead, so I don't even bother getting that skill anymore, let alone using it.

As to the OPs question - let your Tank beat on them for a bit before joining in the fray.  If you're using Sten as a 2-hander, remember he's going to hit much slower than you do with your dual weapons, so let him connect with a few swings before jumping in for your quick jabs.  And start off with normal attacks (save your powerful special skills for later in the fight when the risk of pulling aggro is much less because your tank has racked up several hits).

Stealth (4) is my 'Get Off My Back' card to play for my Rogues, and I only started using it on my later Wardens.

Well, it saved my rogue from a party wipe in the Golems DLC. Not against the final boss, but against several boss golems and a couple of lieutenant ones. Hit feign death, and they all walked back to their posts (which were far away) none the wiser.

Regarding the OP, Sten shouldn't be able to taunt every five seconds. It has a longer cooldown than that. I personally leave Taunt out of tactics, and manually have the tank taunt whenever a squishy character is getting swamped, making sure that the tank is sufficiently nearby to grab the enemies' attention.

Personally I never use Threaten and Taunt. (PC Version 1.04)

When I first started playing I thought Threaten would help. It didn't do anything but drain my Stamina so I stopped using it. Taunt? Never bothered. By the time I'd need it I'm out of Stamina anyways.

Same here - don't bother using Threaten or Taunt - waste of stamina on my Warriors. Rather have them spending their stamina on talents. Don't equip your Rogue in massive armor (ie Warden Commander's armor) unless you're ready to take some damage.

I know. I was exaggerating ;)

I never used to use Taunt/Threaten, but I get bored of using the same tactics over and over again so I try to switch things up with every playthrough. I had no idea that it would be so useless

Perhaps it works better for those that come from MMO backgrounds.

I have some experience as an MMO tank (though luckily those days are over now). I can't say it has helped me much in DAO, considering there are no real threat moves compared to what you have in normal MMOs. At least they don't work all that well.

In fact I've had more luck grabbing threat with Virulent Walking Bomb than I have the actual tanking abilities :)

I tend to just have a main character that can either tank or stealth out of threat these days.

Taunt works just fine for me, although I find if my warden is tanking that I don't use it as much(since I'm almost always doing the most damage I'll end up with the most hate on me anyway). Tanking is actually rather simple in this game as opposed to WoW where you had to manage your cooldowns carefully and change targets repeatedly to maintain threat(at least tanking as a warrior required this...)

The only way I'd use Threaten is if it had an Upkeep Cost of 0 and a Fatigue Penalty of 0%. Even then, I doubt I'd use it.

As far as Taunt goes, I never bother. DPS aggro is more than enough for how I play, although if Alistair pulls a horde and hits Taunt while Morrigan casts Storm of the Century I bet it would improve Morrigan's approval rating by +100 . . .
