Well, I hope this is not necro-thingy-shutdown worthy....

Anyway... I finished my Engie run and I was trying to figure out "what's next ?."
So, I dug up an old save with an Infiltrator and changed the loadout, just to try it out....

Shotgun Infiltrator - LotSB - Trade Center

Enjoy!
I think I know what I'm going to play next
This guide will come in handy.

BTW, what the hell happened at 1:24 ? I was cloaked, and yet...

Excellent vid!  At 1:24 I think that heavy was shooting at one of your squaddies and you were in the way.  She blew herself up thoughImage IPB

Always a good thing to revitalize OniGanon's guide - especially with a great video :)

Yuckygeo explained it. I always love it when those heavies commit suicide firing at point blank range B)

BTW don't forget to check Tony's Infiltrator Guide :)

I'd like to weigh in by saying that I've finally found the energy to push an Infiltrator to the Collector Vessel. The GPS is fantastic. I'm having some trouble with increased squadmate deaths, but that's just because I rarely bother to flag them anywhere.

I'm using Slam (1 pt.) as my bonus power for Warp Bombs.

I'm glad this was necroed. I like the idea of cloak as a flanking tool. It is one of the things that I like to use my vanguard charge for and I wont have to hear "can't get a lock" when my target is standing right in front of me.

I'm going to try this on my next playthrough. I've only done the one shot one kill style infiltrator before this. .

Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a shotgun in the face by an infiltrator

I normally dont play Insanity with my infiltrator. However, on Hardcore, even though I have the widow and the locust, there is some simple joy in running around with the tempest and even the predator, and rushing around with it. I extensively use cloak, but dont play assasin builds, and opt for the agent build, meaning I can stealth for about twice as long, meaning I can set up a position far more easily.

I like how people can use the infiltrator as a mobile attacker, rather than being comparable to a rocket turret. Unfortunately, I dont approve of the shotgun toting-charge-my-lazorz-while-cloaking-and-still-be-invisible mentality. The tempest, when "pulsed" at close range with warp ammo should be enough to take out the single guy holding the cover.

I cant take a video because my computer is not only going to be at probably 12 fps with fraps, but my frame rate has mood swings, so....

Thanks guys !

This shotgun-infi it's a lot of fun.
When I started that mission I sniped a couple of mooks (that shep has the widow) but that wasn't cutting it anymore and I got bored. Shotgun kills are most rewarding.

Still uploading vids for the Engie thread, but definitely this will be my next playthrough

Yes, they are!

Great vid again.  I realised that I don't like the Infiltrator b/c I was playing it all wrong.  I would Cloak/Snipe/Cloak/Snipe/Cloak/Snip/etc.

This is real easy, but real boring, IMO.  I usually go for steath classes in games but that technique isn't really using stealth in ways I like to...use it to get close to an enemy and finish them off at CQC.

I tried this shotgun echnique out on one character a few nights ago and loved it.

My next character will be a shotgun Infiltrator for sure.

Dantius tower part 1
Dantius tower part 2

This mission gives me shotgun envy in some of the areas. Very linear layout, but still wide enough to have a lot of rewarding positions to quickly cloak + flank.

I've been having one issue so far playing a CQC Infiltrator, which is squadmates dying far more often than when playing other classes. Any tips on how to improve their survivability? I hate having both die, because of the screwed AI if you cloak without squaddies, which feels like cheating.

While everyone has to mind Squad placement - i.e. Understanding weapon effective range - the Infiltrator is unique in that as soon as you cloak, all baddies aggro onto your Squaddies.  This is why staggers are important while you are cloaked.  It took me a long while to figure out that your Suadmates will die less if you actively stagger enemies while you are busy maneuvering.

Well a few days ago I finally created my first Infiltrator.  I must say, I was shocked how much I disliked the class as I started playing.  Pre-DCS, I was playing it more as a traditional sniper with Assassination Cloak and Warp Ammo as a BP (since I only had the Mantis and Locust to work with pre-Horizon).  I couldn't wait till the DCS since I thought once I grabbed my beloved shotguns, it would just gel.  To my surprise it didn't... at least at first.  Cloak/Shotgunning is quite the different beast from Charge/Shotgunning, it's almost opposite.  If your hurt, the best thing to do is Charge in the middle of a pack.  As an Infiltrator, Cloaking when hurt is probably the worst thing since not only is there no shield boost, all natural regen stops too.  Now I see why even as a class with a 6 second cooldown unique power, there's room for other skills.  You don't want to always Cloak.  Eventually it all did start to gel, and now I love playing my Infiltrator.

My current build:
2 Disruptor Ammo
4 Squad Cryo Ammo
4 Assassination Cloak
4 Incineration Blast
1 (3*) AI Hacking
4 Agent
1 Neural Shock
*what these skills will be once I reach lvl 30

Usual loadout:
Viper
Scimitar
nothing else matters (though if you must know, Locust, Carnifex, and Grenade Launcher)

For a while I was using the Eviscerator.  The combo of that plus Assassination Cloak plus Cryo Ammo almost always lead to a one-shot freeze/kill.  The only problem was, unless unlike Charge, Cloak doesn't put you in perfect shotgun position.  I can't tell you how many times I missed that first Evi shot due to a combination of it's tighter pellet spread and the enemy's erractic movement once I Cloaked.  Hell I can even tell you how many times I couldn't even catch the enemy, running one way and Cloaking only to see them run the other way the moment I went inviso.  Missing that first Evi shot is very bad for Shepard when Cloaking up to an enemy that is not alone.  To remedy this probably, I switched to the Scimitar.  The combination of it's 8 round clip and wider spread makes it far easier to ensure the destruction of at least two foes each Cloak strike.  Another huge bonus:  you can get off more than one Scimitar shot with Assassination Cloak's damage bonus!

I am now running through LotSB with this build and I am having a blast!  There has not been a class yet I haven't eventually loved playing in this great game.  And thanks Oni; I had always planned on building a shotgun Infiltrator, but your use of Cryo ammo and Neural Shock on yours definitely inspired.

Using melee before shooting, while Cloaked, helped me to get a decent shot - you're still cloaked when shooting. The extra damage bonus allows Katana and Evi to OSOK enemies, but Scimitar is great with Cryo Ammo equipped - hard choice.

I didn't liked Infiltrator too, but with shotty and the Viper, Infiltrators are awesome. Thanks to guides like these I got interested and enjoy playing them since. Still haven't tried a Mattock Infiltrator and the way Tony's playing his (with FB) definitely makes it worth a try :)

Ran through a couple loyalty missions last night, namely Jack's and Miranda's. Btw, anyone ever bring Jack along on Miri's loyalty mission? She has a funny line when talking to the Eclipse Captain at the end, though that was the only one. I thought she'd have a lot more to say considering their mutual animosity but not so.

Anyway one thing I've been realizing is that every since I got Squad Cryo Ammo, I don't use Neural Shock that much at all. Before getting Squad Cryo, I did use it quite a bit but now I just freeze fools I need controlled with a quick Viper shot or Shotgun blast. Most fights for me go like this: Cloak, with the aid of slo-mo unleash a Viper barrage that freezes multiple foes, back in cover switching to Shotgun, charge straight for the enemies Cloaking as I run, decimate them all with the Scimitar's 8-round clip. A straggler may get hit with Incineration Blast or Neural Shock, but usually I just Cloak again to get the satisfying Shotgun assassination.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm still glad I have my 1-point wonder as when the rare situations do come up, Neural Shock has and does save my ass. I guess I'm just not one to utilize staggers much unless I need to in my gameplay. I tend to just strip the enemies defenses with my squadmates' powers and then fill their bodies with Shotgun pellets or Viper rounds.  Actually that might be it right there; if I used the GPS like Oni, I'd probably utilize Neural Shock more since that gun doesn't freeze through defenses like the other Shotguns.

That line is priceless, also the Captain's comment to Shepard when she mocks Miranda, plus the Captain's comment on Miranda's clothes.  Wish she were back for ME3.
