ME2 was like a beautiful collection of pictures, but it failed to arrange the pictures into any cohesive pattern that tells any kind of story. But the pictures were still beautiful. Just... in the hands of a monkey.

I more of compare ME1 to something like Logan's Run, except not as good. While ME2 is more like Heavy Metal, without the nudity.

ME2 is Canterbury Tales in space...without the nudity.
Was there nudity in Canterbury Tales? I think there was.....

My being a fan of one character or another has nothing to do with the fact that I think ME2 is like The Canterbury Tales.
I actually think that's a great piece of standalone literature. I do not think it makes for a good middle act of a trilogy, however.

I didn't want The Canterbury Tales. I didn't want a game that plays like one giant mismatched collection of DLC packages.
Me neither...and I'm a Liara fan!
Is my opinon devalued b/c of that?

I can make some witty analogies about how ME1 relates to something as well as ME2..
In my eyes.. ME1 was something that I liked.. Tons of exploration and weapons game play
ME2.. Well I think this was for people that loved action, fast pace. It's going to be tough to find balance in the third one..
Kinda annoyed that you can't pursue your relationship with Liara.. and why did they make ashley into some rude *@(#*?

Actually, you can pursue a relationship with Liara in her DLC. It's a must buy.

I don't think I've met a Liara fan whose opinion I didn't appreciate.

Yes.
I think it has something to do with the fact that many Liara fans are female, as well. Also gay.
I've met few gay people who weren't a pleasure to be around.
Even the Liara fans who are not gay, or female, are the sort of people who appreciate a character like Liara for all the traits that are the best that can be found in a person.

Sadly it seems BioWare no longer makes rich RPGs and is going more for action games, what with Dragon Age going from "classic fantasy RPG" with the first one into lame, generic hack'n'slash action game with DA2. ME2 became Gears of War with dialogue, and now Dragon Age is becoming God of War with dialogue.

You have DA2? YAY! You should send us all copies thenTerror_K wrote...
As far as I was concerned ME1 pretty much already was the middle-ground between TPS and RPG. It was by no means a full-on, hardcore RPG after all, though it was closer to that than it was a shooter. Put in the skill-based rather than stat-based shooting and make the inventory easier and less cumbersome and cluttered and that would pretty much have been the perfect middle-ground there. With ME2 they took the streamlining way too far, as well as the mistake of trying to make each game a standalone title rather than a proper trilogy.

And how could you suggest executing Miranda? Surely you know how much better it would be to escape her clutches? Do you comprehend the fury she would feel? The anger? Miss perfect project lead lets old jarhead Shepard slip through her clutches? The game would essentially start with you defying Cerberus. I can just picture her when she has to deliver the news to TIM...
I actually wish ME2 began with, after Cerberus forces you to go to Freedom's Progress, Shepard says he plans on doing something about it, but still doesn't trust Cerberus to work for them. Instead he leaves, and heads for the Council. On the way, Miranda is trying to talk him out of this, and that working for Cerberus is the better way. Shepard, however, ignores her, and heads for the Council and asks for help. But instead of getting help, he is rejected. After leaving the meeting, Miranda ask what he plans to do now? Because if he wants to save those colonies, and find out why the Reapers are doing this, then he has to put his grudges aside, because they are the only ones that will allow him to do something.
That would have been a better beginning for the game.
