I miss chemical/polonium rounds too. Inferno ammo in ME2 is great, but I miss watching enemies being slowly eaten away my glowing green radioactive acid.

Explosive Rounds. I can only imagine the greatness an Explosive Round-modded Widow or Claymore would be like. Scrap the Cain, get us Explosive Rounds!

I liked the Polonium for ME1 but in ME2 I usually go with Disrupter as it seems to knock the enemies down and make them stagger
. As well as being able to kill them faster.

In ME 1 I used all the rounds and tested them out, but it wasnt till my insanity run with my infiltrator that I found the joyfull use of the sledge hammer rounds.
Normaly the sledge hammer rounds appear to be a poor upgrade for polonium rounds, but there not. With my pistole and sniper rifle both outfitted with these rounds nothing could touch me hardly. Sure my DPS went down enough to take noticeably longer to kill things, but my pistol became crowd control, nothing could take more than about 4-5 shots from the pistol before it started going off balance, and if it did, a sledge hammer X round from my sniper rifle put even charging krogens on their ass. The enemies spent more time laying down than fighting, it wasnt perfect, but between those rounds and singularity, I made it through without too much strain.
So I must attest to the round mod that got me through insanity, the Sledge Hammer round.
Sledgehammer Rounds
Level 8 9 10
Weapons Force +% 40 45 50
Toxic Damage +% 40 50 60
Heat Damping -% 20 20 20

I used a shotgun on just about every class I played on (On ME1, that is -- Shotties are kinda so-so in ME2... I forced myself to use 'em on my Vanguard, but probably would've gotten by fine with just the SMG). Shotgun + Sledgehammer rounds gave me the most joy.
I dunno why, but on ME2, I tend to use Warp Ammo exclusively. For classes with multiple ammo types, like Infiltrator -- you save a lot of skill points by using just one ammo type, nice being able to max everything else. And for me, it seemed like Warp Ammo was better than both Cryo and whatever else Infiltrator had (I never used 'em

ME1: Cryo rounds/ Proton rounds. Sure they weren't that effective at higher difficulties, but they had nice visual effects.

ME1: No idea, i just whacked whatever on and never changed it cos i found it annoying, i got by with that strategy anyway.
ME2: Incinedary. Because i ussually spend the points on other stuff and never get to Inferno...and only remember to flick it on when the "Hold RB to equip an ammo power." flashes up...

Note that this only applies to synthetics, like mechs and geth. Disruptor rips through shields, but does nothing else to organics.
For me, I liked the Tungsten/Shredder Rounds in ME1. It's a shame that they didn't go past grade 7, so you had to keep them past that point if you wanted them. In ME2, Incendiary is my go-to ammo, but Warp ammo and Disruptor ammo have their uses. Cryo is only good on husks though, so I almost never use it.

In ME1, I loved sniping as an Infiltrator from a cliff on the random Mako planets down on enemies guarding the entrance to an enemy base, so I would use Proton rounds a lot to bypass shields if they had any. Combine this with the Scram Rail and Frictionless Materials and you have a rifle that'll pierce any shield without damage or heat loss.
For that reason, I think that's why I favor the Disruptor Ammo in ME2.

No, cryo ammos uses are magnified by the tactics of husks, but cryo ammo will make any fight with shieldless mercs, or with Ymir mechs a bit shorter and with less damage and danger to you.
Thing I like about cryo ammo is; if I get your other defenses down, you are basicly dead, I just havent shatered you yet.

For ME1, explosive rounds.
For ME2, inferno rounds. Both visually and in functionality the best in my opinion.

For ME1, Cryo or Snowblind. Freezing was so useful in ME1, and the slowed rate of fire from Snowblind was useful on occasion.
For ME2, Squad Cryo, or Tungsten.

Have to go with Explosive Rounds. That ammo was uncanny. Thinking about it sort of makes me miss the old modular upgrade system from ME1.

HE rounds in ME1 were great, especially if your squadmates had them in their ARs. Sledgehammer rounds were more fun in my own weapons.
Inferno Ammo is fun for CC purposes as Soldier, and more widely applicable than Squad Cryo. Also, pretty fire.
