Some folks don't seem to like the idea of half-naked fantasy warriors and see them as unrealistic, but in a fantasy setting there is a way of having them that can make sense. I propose a range of 'armours' for a berserker class/specialisation that works on the dexterity/defence attributes.

Now I don't know if we'll see the berserker specialisation in DA2, but the germanic berserker was a warrior who thought that armour was for wimps. They'd tend to charge into battle with a huge two-handed sword or axe wearing little more than wolf-pelt 'armour', complete with wolf-head helmet with fangs drooping over the forehead.

Then you've got the early picts and celts, who'd 'armour' themselves with nothing more than blue woad warpaint. They believed that the painted celtic spirals protected them with magical properties. Now that doesn't sound very clever, but in a game that has magic in it you could actually have this. The pelts/warpaint could boost the character's defence rating magically, and be dependant on the dexterity attribute as to what level you can wear.

Personally I think it could make a great alternative to the usual metal armour. Our male and female berserkers could wear little more than a hide loin-cloth/bikini and have a  whole range of armours consisting of mean looking animal pelts, or different colours and patterns of whole-body warpaint.

Smartass: I am amused that there are some who are generally opposed to revealing armor, but would make an exception if the character had a reason. As though observers would be thinking "Oh, it's a cultural thing? Then I shant be titilated." Would the character have to make the viewer aware before the distinction could be made, so as to avoid some sort of quantum state of arousal/unarousal? Perhaps a pamphlet entitled “Upon my Preference for Showing the Goods.”

Although it would allow me to write an epic thong. W’dge of the Chasind has a ring to it. And not much else. Badum-TISH.

Serious: I’m sure we’ll have opportunity for sexiness that both appeases and offends depending on your nature, but in general, the more armored you are, the more armor you are wearing. That’s a design choice to support the mechanics/appearance of the IP and give clarity to players. And Origins did have some juggling between the benefits of mobility versus raw protection, so we'll probably have similar tradeoffs this time around.

Hey folks, let's pull this back on topic and try and stay civil. We can all discuss issues without resorting to name calling and ad hominem attacks.

If not, this thread will get locked.

It should also be mentioned that trolling, while something of a subjective call most of the time, is not tolerated on these forums. So please, folks - don't go into a thread if you're not intending to positively contribute to the discussion.

Alright, this thread has become far too combative. It is possible to express differences of opinion without being insulting and/or resorting to personal attacks. If you guys want to open the discussion again, please do so with a minimum of ad hominem or it'll be locked. Again.

I know for a fact that you folks are quite intelligent and capable of having a normal discussion. Let's try to keep things relatively civil from this point onward.
