With the features being leaked out the past few months, I wouldn't be surprised too badly if DA 2 made the full leap to chainmail bikini/loincloth fan service.

I'm not sure about that. There is a new art style, and I can't blame them. A lot of the casual market and younger kids didn't like dragon age for the exact reasons Bioware is assessing in DA 2. If they can appeal to a wider audience without negatively impacting other parts of the game, there isn't any reason not to. Doesn't mean they're gonna soak the game in all of the hallmarks of bad fantasy settings.

Ah yes. Let us go the way of XBlades for both men and women. Nothing more invigorating than fighting in a thong and pasties :)

Shame how this topic ended up...

There are still a few people trying to actually address the issues the OP raised but a lot of people got too caught up in talking about iron bikinis... shame.

To add to the point of the OP, I agree that there should be some armor available to Warriors and other classes and the like that emphasis mobility over protection as well as adhere to strict cultural codes based on the regional origins of the armor. The thought of heavy armor in fact being considered cowardly by many ancient cultures.

Also, it is generally recognized that while you are better protected while wearing more and heavier armor, you are also more vulnerable. You tire very quickly and are unable to dodge, sidestep or even effectively parry blows due to your encumbrance.

While I do not think that the loincloths and skins and bodypaint should greatly benefit the wearer's armor they most certainly should add to defense with comparable increases to dodge rating and parry chance, effectively making the "Celtic Warrior" image possible.

My previous comment with his immediately following made it a facepalm. Read all together it is entirely in context.

Alright, this thread has become far too combative. It is possible to express differences of opinion without being insulting and/or resorting to personal attacks. If you guys want to open the discussion again, please do so with a minimum of ad hominem or it'll be locked. Again.

I know for a fact that you folks are quite intelligent and capable of having a normal discussion. Let's try to keep things relatively civil from this point onward.
