Other then that, when a male and female warrior stand next to one another, they should be completely indifferent
The only thing that tells them apart is their voice.

That's how Bethesda's latest two (FO3 and Oblivion) worked, especially the medium+ level armors. I think the armor should be feminised, because a woman's armor would clearly fit differently to a male's armor, but I don't think it should be made less protective.
It just looks silly.
Well.... bringing Bathesda into the argument is playing with fire. Bathesda has always been extremely mature in their games (not mature by kids standards, but wise mature). They completely eliminate the issue of sexuality by making it irrelvant in the game. Whether you are a guy or a gal, TES almost doesn't really care. i don't know how its handeled in Fallout 3 (never completed the game).

If you want scanity clad armor and/or some sex appeal, why chainmail bikini? Why not something like Dalish male armor? If the female version looked a bit more like the male one, it'd still be attractive AND functional.
Here's an example of what I would consider revealing yet tastefull armor that still offers protection:

He has enough protection on the limbs to keep them defended during combat and the absence of much body armor allows him to move and attack at quicker speeds. It looks good and is efficient at the same time. Same armor (plus a cloth, maybe light leather or fur vest for modesty) would look pretty damn awesome on females as well, without being ridiculous.

Besides the black widow perk, the game really is gender-less.
Also, I'm still laughing at how fan girls thought I was a sexist pig because they assumed i wanted sexy armor for women obligatory...when I said it was an option.
Fan girls...I gotta tell you.
to the above image, once again, budget cuts...but cool pic.

Smartass: I am amused that there are some who are generally opposed to revealing armor, but would make an exception if the character had a reason. As though observers would be thinking "Oh, it's a cultural thing? Then I shant be titilated." Would the character have to make the viewer aware before the distinction could be made, so as to avoid some sort of quantum state of arousal/unarousal? Perhaps a pamphlet entitled “Upon my Preference for Showing the Goods.”
Although it would allow me to write an epic thong. W’dge of the Chasind has a ring to it. And not much else. Badum-TISH.
Serious: I’m sure we’ll have opportunity for sexiness that both appeases and offends depending on your nature, but in general, the more armored you are, the more armor you are wearing. That’s a design choice to support the mechanics/appearance of the IP and give clarity to players. And Origins did have some juggling between the benefits of mobility versus raw protection, so we'll probably have similar tradeoffs this time around.
I don't really care how much actual protection such clothes/armor would give if they are included, mage spells and other class abilities can defend the character anyway, and I am sure if there were such clothes I would use them atleast occassionally or for a single full walkthrough for the fun of it. And seriously: Who doesn't want/like them just shouldn't wear them, that is all. (although forcefully being thrown into an arena with such clothes would be a fun event ingame)
To me is not about being forced to wear them, is about a supossedly realistic setting having that kind of "armor"
as working. It is the equivalent of going into battle in underwear. At least with Morrigan she wasn´t supposed to go in melee, at least in human form.
I already found the cleaveage in light armors in Origins silly.
...as long there is magic, undead, demons, darkspawn, dragons, and golems and aslong there is no swimming/climbing/riding I don't care about realism, If there will be such armors I will use them, if there will be huge swords twice your size I will use those too just to scare the hell out of the enemy if for nothing else.
I believe we came to the point where both sides once again can agree that the only thing they can agree on is that they disagree.

Now this is actually pretty good. In fact it some of the most tasteful revealing armor I've seen in a long time.
Now if we could just make it fully equal for the women of this race as well then that would be good for their group.
Or in other words.
Amount of Mens Armor = Amount of Womens Armor
for that profession and group/guild/clan/etc

That kind of thinking led to cleavages in zero atmosphere
if you talk about Mass Effect 2 or somesuch: If there are personal and ship shields that can keep out bullets/shrapnels/explosions/laser beams, then they sure are able to keep air in too

Are you SERIOUS?!! If you don't want to wear the armor then don't! I'm not fond of scantily-clad males or females but I don't see a problem with why others shouldn't be able to enjoy it. Everyone does not like to wear armor, and that goes for me.
Not to mention that while having an armored mage is one of my most fun preferred game styles in most games, it can also be fun to have the opposite, unarmored warriors, or just have a semi-nude mage, noone could complain about a mage wearing metal bikini atleast as it doesn't even hinder hand movements as a robe might.

It seems to be inspired by germanic/gladiator armor, and fyi there is armor on the left side, just barely visible due to char stance
