I'm thinking about changing my c.ini to limit all classes to 2 weapons. 2 normal weapons or 1 weapon + 1 Heavy (I'm not too sure if I can remove the heavy, but I'll not use it by choice if I can't).

The soldier pretty much has everything, but I'm tired of looking at the armory on his back. My gameplay has me rarely switching or even using more than 3 weapons the soldier carries, and I'm don't really feel like I'm missing much when playing as an adept with only a pistol and smg.

What two weapons would you choose for each class if you were allowed 2 slots for any of the weapons configured at the character build screen?

Soldier: AR & Sniper
Adept: SMG & Shotgun
Vanguard: Shotgun & Sniper
Engineer: SMG & Heavy
Sentinel: AR & Heavy

I'll handle Pistol as a specialty too.

Adpet: Pistol, SMG

Vanguard: Shotgun, AR

Soldier: AR, Heavy

Infilt. : Sniper, SMG

Engineer: Pistol, Shotgun

Sentinel: Pistol, AR

All a soldier really has are his weapons, so I would give him 3 myself. (One being heavy.)
For the Sentinel, I'd go SMG+Shotgun, to enable both caster and assault styles.

I'd go:

Vanguard: Shotgun + Heavy Pistol

Adept: AR + SMG

Engineer: AR + SMG

Sentinel: Shotgun + Heavy Pistol

Infiltrator: Shotgun + SMG

Soldier: AR + SR + Shotgun

no heavy weapons so you can easily switch using mouse wheel or "X".

Bleh. Just go SMG + Sniper rifle for every class except Vanguard, where that would be SMG + Shotgun. Locust and Viper is all anyone really needs :P

I'd go for something like this:

Soldier: Widow, Mattock and GPS (or CAIN)

Vanguard: Claymore and Phalanx

Sentinel: Evi and Locust

Adept: Mattock and Locust (just to back up Mattock's limited ammo capacity)

Engineer: same as Adept

Infiltrator: Viper and Katana

You can easily remove HW form all classes in coalesced.ini - I recommend using 3 different weapons max, that way you can switch between all only using mouse scrollwheel

For the most part, I agree JaegerBane. Except in the case of Inf. where I prefer the Widow, but you are right smg+sniper is a powerful combo.

However, I've played that sooooo much that I'm really tired of it.

@hawat333 I like that idea with the Adept. Use the pistol in place of sniper or shotgun. With the phalanx it has the laser so it almost is a mini sniper if you're good enough. I'll have to give that a run :) Too bad there isn't pistol training on the collector ship that gives you a quad barreled pistol or some other uber-pistol.

@Bozorgmehr I'll go search the modd thread for that, as I'm really tired of HW's right now, too. Unless you have a link you can share :) n/m, I see how to do that in the loadout settings. thanks for the heads up!

I've been thinking a lot about restructuring some of the loadouts, for roleplaying and gameplay reasons; a few ideas are posted in this thread:
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/261/index/4445731/1

At the moment I have as my general loadout:

Adept: Heavy pistol; Assault rifle. Bonus - Shotgun.
Vanguard: Heavy pistol; Assault Rifle; Shotgun. Bonus - Claymore.
Soldier: Heavy Pistol; Assault Rifle; Shotgun; Sniper Rifle. Bonus - Revenant/Widow/Claymore
Infiltrator: Heavy Pistol; SMG; Sniper Rifle. Bonus - Widow/Shotgun.
Engineer: Heavy Pistol; SMG. Bonus - Shotgun/Assault Rifle. Mostly shotgun.
Sentinel: SMG; Heavy Weapon. Bonus - Shotgun/Assault Rifle.

Some things I'm not too sure about.
Engineer - I like this class to be about all the toys you have to play with (including powers). I'm considering adding heavy weapons (something like the avalanche, or other techy heavy weapon).
Sentinel - The heavy weapon class for me - the visual effect of the tech armour makes this seem like a good choice.
Infiltrator - I've considered giving shotgun from start, instead of SMGs, but then with sniper and pistol everything is one shot at a time - could get boring.

As a rule I feel biotic classes can have the assault rifle, because of the nature of the class - using the mind/body to unleash powerful attacks; whereas tech classes need to be fiddling about with their omni tools, so carrying bulky weapons doesn't seem like a good idea. SMGs go well with tech classes, for me.

Edit: I'm sorry, I just saw you said 2 weapons per class. :pinched:

Edit 2: It is also worth noting that I frequently play on NG+, and so have the bonus weapon choice available from start.

Yeah...  there should be a pistol that has a high rate of fire and clip size, but you'd need to tap it, and it would shoot explosive rounds :DD

If I had the PC version and was doing something like this, I'd probably keep everything as-is, but remove SMG's and Assault Rifles from every class. In all the videos I've seen, the Assault Rifle and SMG tend to see a lot of use, but very few actually work without them entirely. They're very reliable weapons, but they're so reliable that other weapons tend to see a lot less use. Removing them would force you to use your other weapons as they were intended to be used. At least, that's the way I see it.

If I had a PC, or if I wasn't scared of ruining my new Xbox, I would mod my Vanguard to get rid of the SMG, and hold on to the Assault Rifle and Shotgun. I want to have the Claymore and the Mattock at the same time.

I like that, troll, but I'd change the rev. to the mattock. Especially for a soldier class with AR.

But I do like modding the Rev onto squadies. But it does make the game soggy cake when you do that :(
