As a follow up to my earlier bug report, here is a first attempt at building a more complete and accurate list of areas in which groups might want to recruit (taking much from what's already there):

2D art
3D modelling and animation
Area design
Beta testing
Cinematics
Music composing
NPC design
Project management
Programming (but what is the difference with scripting?)
Scenario design
Scripting
Sound effects
Story development
Visual Effects
Voice acting
Writing
Other (with an added text entry field)

What do you think? Anything missing or superfluous?

I agree - there are not enough categories currently. However, I have some comments on the above list:

I would just say "Testing" instead of "Beta testing" ... there is such a thing as "alpha testing" as well.

As for "Programming", well, I would consider that to exclude DAscripting - so it would include things like programming external tools. Maybe "Tool programming" or "Utility programming" would be clearer.

The term "Area design" is a bit misleading - does that only include area creation, or level creation too?

Thanks Jesse for taking our recommendations into account!

For now, though, the bug with group proficiency display and proficiency filter matching persists.

Here's another proficiency I'd love to see added: Proofreading/editing. A much needed service, and which some are willing to provide.

3D Modelling and Animation should be split into two categories because:
  • I suspect they are different disciplines especially in DA: while the person doing the intial rigging etc. is may be a 3D modeller someone skilled in creating and manipulating blend trees quite possibily isn't.
  • It makes the dropdown listbox overly long which along with the "wanted proficiencies" label is causing the box to wrap onto a different line.

ciV: those should match up 1-to-1 now, though the ordering might be different. Can you give an example of what's not lining up?

Sunjammer: we'll split them up.

Please see pics:

Proficiency display in View Group mode (notice all skills are displayed): http://social.biowar...up/34/album/90/

Proficiency filtering menu in Browse Group mode (not all available skills are displayed): http://social.biowar...up/34/album/91/

(Looks like url aren't converted to links automatically...)
