I would take that as a compliment, though I've never played BG2.

As would most Bioware retrogrouches :P

Now HERE is a soul I didn't see in ages!

Chall, any chance on a new sequel? Do you plan to use any of my old (years by now?) suggestions? Do you still have contact with the others?

Um... private discussion?<_<

Your taste is antiquated. Go play Baldur's Gate 2 for the 700th time. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie]

I would, too, if I liked BG2 enough to have played it more than about a 1 1/2 times in the decade or so I've owned it.  It's a decent game, but it is far from my favorite or my ideal cRPG... I actually have to look outside of BioWare for my favorites.

I really like the way they are taking the Dragon Age franchise. Keep it up, Bioware!

Fiction still has to be convincing.

Alas, none of this has convinced me DA2 will be any better than I fear. Still doesn't look like a game I want to play.

Pretty sure that was the point he was trying to make.

I'd wager nothing will convince some people.

Hmm scary... it looks different from Origins contradictory to what Mike Laidlaw said. It's more action-y.

Whelp, we can't judge a game just based on a 1 minute gameplay vid from a demo. Looks like we'll just have to wait for more gameplay vids =)

I seem to remember (the GI article I believe) that Bioware wanted to make the series more distinct and stylish. Honestly, DA:O  looked like an upgraded KOTOR (in terms of combat mechanics) mixed with a reversed and more magical LoTR.

DA2 is looking pretty stylish and distinct now, and if I'm to play a game where combat is mostly based on numbers and stats, then I want the combat to look pretty damn spectacular, instead of watching a fight scene straight from Monty Python without the humor.

And as for the size of the sword and how unrealistic the moves are? Come the **** on.

True indeed. I'm glad I firmly occupy the middle ground in such matters.

That is criticzing, even on a grander level, plus he has no clue of what games I like, so his comment is biased by his own believes.

Maybe I was not being specific enough.
Your taste in combat in-game and weapons is really bad, as you would think that those dance-like, ridiculous moves in dynasty warrior good. And the weapons in it. Those outlandish designs would fit in DA universe? Seriously? But then again, as pointed out by the great ****, to fight over taste is not very constructive.

ITS TOO FAST!! *CRY*

No, seriously, and I know a lot of people will hate me for simply saying, but...

that video looked like a lot of fun.

Oh, and 2h weapons were also stupidly huge in DA:O. Starfang was about as tall as my player character.

But I can understand why people ignore that, seeing as how they need reasons to dislike DA2 and all.

For exaggerated combat as it is supposed to be its fitting. I`m reserving Judgement until we see Real gameplay

How would I have forgotten? Silly me. I guess that start since Awakening. The first time I saw Vigilance, I should have known that not only the cake, but also the low-fantasy stuff is a lie.

not to speak of the universe, we don't even know most of the world yet, nothing assures us that there are no spears or asian-like cultures anywhere

spinning and dancing was the concept for DA2 rogues since a while, it was commented on this by devs atleast two months ago if not more, you should have been mentally prepared for this by now, still that shouldn't make Bioware remove dual wielding from warriors, just the lack of jumpy acrobatic animation does not justify that why professional, armored warriors can't properly dual wield anymore

I by no means agree with every change Bioware made, as example the removal of origins and racial choice, and yes I do prefer quicker and more aethestic battles to slow, clunky ones. I liked how the new look of the qunari is, but am concerned about how elves and dwarves will look like in the end product.

I consider battles to be bothersome and only stalling the actual story, so i am happy with anything that makes battles end quicker

I stand by my opinion however that realism is not as important then "awesomness" and fun in games, and that everyone has different tastes to begin with. "Ízlések és pofonok." as a hungarian saying goes, which means roughly "Tastes and slaps in the face"

Someone's going to be in trouble for allowing a steadicam (or whatever it was) to slip by them and film it...

Obviously from the exaggerated part of things, would have liked to see the real version to get a better sense of things; looks good, not a fan of big swords though

200 lb <_<

Seriously people, is ther noone else around here except me who actually wielded swords and knows what is realistic and what not?
While I don't care much about realism in the game this sword there IS realistic to begin with, I saw real swords being even longer and/or wider than that, and they don't really weight much neither. This is just an "urban legend" like that of heavy plated people not being able to to stan up once fallen on their backs, or that they can't properly move in them

btw: noone said you can't pause the game or that you have to click for every swing, people start to assume absurd things on their own again without facts.
