Stop using ellipses... so much...

There isn't a single language that uses ellipses as a common occurrence. That is a habit that makes you seem adolescent, not like it's a second or third or whatever language.

As to the video, aside from the twirling in selection it didn't seem that bad. Looked like an odd balance. Still waiting for an official one where the weapon animations are a little more in sync to judge.

More of a morbid fascination with why some people want to torture themselves. For example, I am not in the slightest bit impressed with nor interested in what CDP is doing with Wticher 2. Other people love it and can't wait. I couldn't care less. You do not see me on Witcher 2 forums complaining about it.

I seen also some the witcher 2 gameplay video... And i appreciate much more the style and animations of the witcher 2 than the ones of dragon age 2.. So yes.. Geralt moves looks way better than the dragon age two moves..

*facepalms swiftly followed by facepalmdesk* To all the people still whining about the gameplay please do the rest of us a favour, go find your nearest dictionary and look up the word EXAGGERATED!

Now as to the earlier comment about how Varric's narrative effecting gameplay, think of it as this. Have you seen "A Knight's Tale"? (Yes I figure might as well use this as an example what with my name and all)

Remember Chaucer's speeches when he was introducing Sir Ulrich?

If we were to do a game based on that, we would be playing Sir Ulrich defending some girl from her Turkish Uncle. Course playing the part where we spent a year in silence better to understand the sound of a whisper might be a bit boring but heh...

Now going back to Varric and Cassandra, picture the scene...

Varric: Aahh then there was this time when Marian Hawke and her sister were out on some wretched piece of land surrounded by Darkspawn, well, Marian by this point had pretty much had enough of those foul beasties and pulled her BIG... and am talking BIG *waves hands exaggerating the size of the weapon* two hander sword from her back and started swinging around chopping up the Darkspawn, blood flying all over the place and their bodies exploding into chunks thanks to her insane sword skills and the bolts of magic her sister was throwing until all that remained of the darkspawn were a few feet and just a big bloody pulp on the floor.

*Cassandra looks at him pondering if he really is telling the truth*

Cassandra: Ok, now time me what REALLY happened.

*cue proper gameplay action where darkspawn aren't getting one shotted into a bloody mess and some of the moves are more toned down than in the previous gameplay*

Is it really that hard for some people to grasp?

Unless you were a fan of TW1 as many of us here are of DA:O, then why should you be worried about TW2?

Though the gameplay looks different it still feels like a dragon age game, and I appreciate that. Through all the screaming about changes and such on this board, I knew BW could pull it off and they've yet to disappoint(doubt they ever will).

That was an impessive dialogue, and I applaud your inventiveness. However, I must have missed the disclaimer that stated that this was a portrayal of exagerrated gameplay, not actual gameplay.

But, really, nice dialogue. Very entertaining.Posted Image

It is exaggerated. There is no disclaimer because there shouldn't need to be any in the first place and because it isn't an official video.

while i like reading people opinions and all, it does get abit tiring and annoying that some people will knitpick over such little things and we have barly seen any of the game at all besides what we watch so far

Still waiting for offical gameplay footage from bioware so i cant wait :)

I like the new speed. Slow does NOT equal RPG. The blood explosions seemed a bit much but I'm guessing that's part of Varric's tall tale. Then again I've never seen a human being explode so it may be an accurate depiction. The sword seems like the same size as the two-handers from DA:O so I'm not sure why people are throwing fits over it.

Not really what I wanted to see as first gameplay video. Reminded me more of Diablo or Devil May Cry, but I guess that's to be expected when developers make it for console and tout faster combat. In my mind though DA was never about plowing through hordes of enemies with ten feet swords and special effects galore. Kinda ruins the suspension of disbelief for what I thought was dark and realistic fantasy.

agreed, to top it off the sword in the DA2 video is sten's sword asala.

and then mike teased us that we will see that sword in the game (asala was specifically made for sten).

Dear Herr Uhl, it seems a common habbit to try to balance someone off in a discussion by making comments about language use, grammar, spelling.... But you raised the bar to new hights by including... ellipses... Don't do it. You are smart and it doesn't suit you.

I agree with you about the quality of the video. It's hard to figure some things out. Others are are very clear, though. Like the "swoosh" effect. Erm. You know, the "after-image" effect. I hope you'll get my drift. It's cool that it is there, but I would love to see it a bit dimmed. Before we know it we'll see the screen filled with flashing damage numbers rise to the sky in DA3. The way it is done now borders to what I can stomach. ;)

Also Mike Laidlaw has pretty much stated it is exaggerated gameplay in this very topic if some people could actually be bothered to look at the 'Bioware' comments in the topic rather than just jumpining in with unintelligible rants. They are aware that people want to see 'proper' gameplay footage and they are looking at doing that soon (another thing he has stated in this topic, if people actually took the time to go out the topic and click on the word bioware underneath the topic title they would know this).

a bit hard to describe actually, i asked if someone could screenshot one but alas i haven't found one yet but i'll keep looking. note: the armor was only shown on pax i believe.

while i'm looking i'll say this, i remember the color scheme of the armor was black and dark grey with some red linings if i'm not mistaken. it was similar to the massive armor model on origins but looked less bulky and more practical. it's been almost a month since i've seen it so excuse my memory if i'm incorrect.

quick thoughts on this:

Animation looks good

Combat looks very intense, yes it seems somewhat DMC like but I figured it was the exagerated start.

Light armor on Rogues.. I approve looks nice, roman meets Duncan inspired it seems.

NewSpawn still kinda sucks in my opinion they look better in movement though

and the two handed swords.. it looks like she's swinging something as light as a pillow, that's silly like the opposite end of the too heavy animations of DA:O also it looks like a Berserk Guts sword reject.
