Haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I liked the look of the mini-map without the huge border and black background.

Yeah, it kind of easier to read huh?

Can't really judge from this short unofficial video, but the gameplay and the whole vibe I got from it (plus the info I've read so far), is that it's a completely different game from Origins. I'm still wondering why the devs want to change so drastically a game which was so successful and praised by gamers and critics. My main fear is that it's going to be a consolised, simplified and rushed RPG. Anyway, I'll wait to watch official trailers by Bioware to form a decent opinion about it. Although the DLCs of Dragon Age was a total let down regarding the quality and honesty of Bioware products, I still have some faith in them about the overall quality and maturity of their work. We’ll see. Good thing that in 2010-11 will have a plethora of promising RPG titles to choose from.

Some of the moves, maybe,. But greatswords didn't weigh all that much. 8 pounds or so was typical.

off the record, i was really pleased when i first saw lady hawke. to me she looks like a light skinned blue eyed caska:whistle: or a possible daughter of gutts and caska as it were.

Just change skin and eyes, and we´ve got Caska (that´s the English spelling? It´s a bit different in Spanish to avoid a double entendre). Happy coincidence.

caska of band, i mean family of the hawkes:whistle:

I'm aware after having seen videos off the ARMA web site. I was mainly referring to the selection screen where LadyHawke swings it around easily with one hand. What bothered me wasn't that I thought she lacked the strength. Rather, it was effortlessly swinging a blade that long and so close without clipping her side.

8 pounds in a single hand is still a bit for a sustained fight. And there´s the issue of weapon balance. However, we seem to be getting in reality is unrealistic territory.

maybe the thedas's version of steel, iron and other materials have different properties in dragon age? maybe the metals used for these swords are lighter or something. it's a fantasy world so i wouldn't hold against an explanation of that nature. even human physiology might be slightly different in dragon age than "our" human race.

Then talk correctly and don't say idiocies. You just continue telling stupidities, everywhere. And what's worse is that you don't call that opinions but facts. At last bring some evidence of what you are talking about, as others do.

Report me if you like. I don't care. But before all else know that when you talk about arguments as facts you
should have some background of what you are speaking about. Try to go in a literature forum saying for example that Bret Aston Ellis is crap, see how they will react. Still Aston Ellis is completely different from literature of the past, yet nobody talks of him as the worst thing ever happened, because that's not true.

There are many doomsayers here, some intelligent and some not. If you don't want to be pestered by me then starting saying something intelligent and try to have an intelligent argument instead of continuing posting things that have no
bearing on reality. Having and opinion is not enough. After a while you bother with all your continue insults at everything, without either trying to understand what you are complaing about. For a while it works, after some more it becomes tedious.

But don't worry, in a while I will just bother of you since there's nothing to talk about. You try to act as an adult, yet behave as a teenager. Make up your mind.

All those insults and personal attacks in that pile of text above is supposed to make you erm... better?

I was going to joke about BSG but I´ll pass (hell of a spoiler). Was there any equivalent to mithryl, valiryan (sp?) steel or the like in Origins?

Edit: aside from kryptonian meteor ore.

It seems alot of people are satisfied with the whole Japanese anime turn of the moves.

Well go ahead and let our Hawke fight the nine-tailed fox before it changes the world then! And I'll go die somewhere around the corner.

That was likely the real class selection screen. From the issue of sword weight we´ve had a bit back, it´s likely a possible movement. Just a silly one for combat.

Hawke is fidgety so far. Remember the sword drag from Destiny.

Suggestion: make his hair all COOL and SPIKY!

This video would have looked amazing if I were 14. It's saddening how people must age, grow up and develop some resemblance of taste.

Everything looks terrible.Main char&his phallus extension sword, combat, the god awful colors, freaking anime undertones. GODDAMNIT.  Just..terrible. Game industry is steadily moving to a state where everyone over 21 years of age is too old to play newly released video games.

It is agonizing to click a video  expecting a vibe similar to Lord of the rings(as portrayed by Jackson, not as created by Tolkien:p)  or Song of ice and fire only to discover you are staring an MTV music video...
..with terrible color scheme!

Amen.
But seriously though, it is merely the fall of rpgs, or single player games as a whole. People will develop more advanced MP games. And video games, mainly as a media, shall become a more and more prominent study in the respective academic fields
So in short, we are just old-timers.

Sadly Varrick´s narration is more Kenshin on steroids with 2H than Berserk. A few fans here I see.

That explains the panty sex.

It's quite possible to swing a sword of such size with such little effort in real life, provided the person is not a complete wimp. It simply takes practice. And the necessary strength, which isn't as much as some people here seem to think, is already gained during the sword training.

I was disturbed by the animations of Awakening's additional weapon talents, but stuff in the video I watched doesn't really seem out of place to me. It's a bit faster than what you'd expect in real life, true, but this is no real life. I'm content with the pace.

It's a real shame that game sucked chunks, I really loved the viral marketing for it especially the faux Documentary that was great.

Sorry to poke holes in your theory, but I am a 43 year old male, with a wife and 4 children, and I like it.
It's not in it's final stage, and it's during the exaggerated narrative, but BioWare has done many excellent things to improve the combat and look of Dragon Age.

I am somewhat surprised that someone of your advanced age and maturity doesn't have the patience to wait for a more representative gameplay video that is not shot from the demo floor through a steady-cam before developing an informed opinion.
