That's pretty much SOP around these parts.

Not to dismiss the comments, of course-- which are a nice mix of noth negative and positive, even if the negative people are much louder (and occasionally insistent that only their opinion matters)-- but the leaked video is a short part of the demo's opening. You don't get to see Cassandra's reaction, and the transition to the "normal" gameplay... which is part of the point, really.

But until we put that out there, expect people to dissect what they see ad nauseum, overreact, accuse each other of overreacting, etc. That's kind of what the internet is for, no?

I loved DA:O on the PC and I think this preview looks nice, even if it's a mere minute of exaggerated action. Loving the character models big time!

Well, after watching the gameplay video several times I'm thinking it will turn out well when it is all said and done. There were a few things that peeved me slightly but hopefully once some official gameplay video comes out most of those will be put to rest. Not for all certainly but for most. Be careful not to make too quick of judgments on a minute and a half video.


Lol until then I suggest everyone (meaning the die hard players who think that the game is going to end up being a big let down) take a deep breath and relax.  A lot can happen in six months

Gameplay looks fluid...I cannot wait for March 2011. Haters gonna hate...period.

Some of the complaints about the gameplay video are mind boggling. I think folks really take this stuff too seriously.

I just read about 20 or so pages of people complaining about how unrealistic the the size of Hawkes sword is. In Origins you walk around with flaming/iced swords and daggers strapped to your back,and folks talk about realism. Get a grip...its a game.

The animation are not cool they are really really ridicolus.. I saw similiar animation on some japanese action console game.. Like devil may cry and other things likes that... I don't like the direction that dragon age taked...
Thanks bioware to give us first a nice old style rpg and calling it a spiritual successor of baldur's gate... And make it become a sort of manga with trash moves and exploding people...

Im sorry that you are basing your opinion on one small 30 second piece of gameplay that you saw and that you will never be playing the game. 

I would suggest that you wait until you see gameplay actually released by Bioware rather than the steadicam footage in this case.  I would also suggest that you place the video in context (ie. that of the exaggerated story rather than assuming that this small 30 second piece will make up the entirety of the game) before you completely make up your mind.

They explained the exagerrated part.. for this ennemy are exploding... What i dont really like are the new animations.. Im not a fan of the old one... But the new anims looks too much cartoonish manga style.. And too much faster in the case of a two handed sword.. Reminds me devil may cry or other clips of japanese videogames.. The funny thing is that.. They cutted off full plate warrior with dual wield because they think are ugly to see a full armored fighter flipping with a full plate.. And now they hadded a two handed sword fight style soo faster that looks like lady hawke is using a staff and not a sword..lol..

Everything looks terrible.Main char&his phallus extension sword,combat, the god awful colors, freaking anime undertones. GODDAMNIT.  Just..terrible. Game industry is steadily moving to a state where everyone over 21 years of age is too old to play newly released video games.

Maybe it's just my immaturity and bad taste talking, but I don't think hurling passive-aggressive invective around is a good way of making people take you seriously and want to accomodate your preferences.

Jon, this wasn't officially released by Bioware (hence no disclaimer).  This was a couple of people managing to sneak in a small video camera into a demo and then getting the video to gametrailers.com

Still, it looks a hell of a lot better than the DAO two-hander animations, which looked like he was trying to swing a piece of scaffolding around. By rights the warden should have been stabbed in the face four times by the time he brought that sword down onto the target.

Sorry to poke holes in your theory, but I am a 43 year old male, with a wife and 4 children, and I like it.

It's not in it's final stage, and it's during the exaggerated narrative,
but BioWare has done many excellent things to improve the combat and
look of Dragon Age.



I am somewhat surprised that someone of your advanced age and maturity
doesn't have the patience to wait for a more representative gameplay
video that is not shot from the demo floor through a steady-cam before
developing an informed opinion.

...For someone who enjoys the video so, you have oddly strong urge to apologize on it's behalf.

Of course one forms an opinion based on shady first impressions when that's pretty much all that is available. I find it silly and unfair only in case impressions  build on such shady ground  won't change just as easily as they are formed. In cases like this, there isn't anything better than noticing you have been proven wrong. So yas, it is entirely possible DA2 won't end up being some embarrassing Anime Devil with spiky hair may Cry in MTV type of an atrocity like the first gameplay video suggests.

As less of a drivel-infested side note, it displays terribly poor judgement to release first game play video featuring area with such a a train wreck of a color scheme.

I'm a little curious... The Witcher has been getting a lot of praise on this forum ever since it has existed. Err... Isn't Geralt swinging a greatsword effortlessly half the time, like the master he is, and then when combos begin to get ridiculous, proceed to move faster than any human being could possibly move, sword or not.

People seem to have no problem with that. Are those not the same people who are complaining about DA2's animation pace here ? Or is this a double standard ?
