The flaws in DA combat don´t justify a possible change in style.

Why not?

There´s a difference between dealing with flaws and revamping. Origins combat was fine as it was for those of us who  like that kind of combat. If you don´t most games don´t use it nowadays. There´s plenty of choice for that. Not so much for Origins gameplay.

God I hope not. I don't want my party experience in DA to become the same as it is in WoW. I can't stress that enough.

I'm entirely unfamiliar with Devil May Cry, so I made no such comparison.

You didn't. I was referencing a comparioson made by someone else.

What about the second step?  Are the rules constant?  Apparently I'm not supposed to assume that.

No, in point of fact you're not supposed to assume that. The rules all go wonky in the Fade, for instance.

Sylvius the Mad wrote...
Right, but when we learn that all manner of other things become likely or even necessarily true (like architecture).

You're basically asking me not to use deduction.

That's unfortunately how it works, because writers are writers and not experts in other real life infrastructure or scientific professions.

presumably my character knows the rules of the setting.  How am I supposed to make decisions on his behalf if I don't have his relevant knowledge?

How can I make tactical decisions if I don't know if the physics of the world will allow it?

Most computer science programs require at least one logic course, and the decisions we're talking about are more likely made by techical designers rather than writers.

Not on the consoles from the feedback I've read. Plus certain classes like 2H warrior did not play well on the PC IMHO, other classes sure.

No, the Ogre will charge at Bethany, and Hawke will intercept the Ogre, following with a heroic strikePosted Image
It's been quite a while since I left the hell pit. Am I confusing the abilities?

You're reaching now. They can't give a text book on The Revised Laws of Physics: Thedas and expect you to read it before you play the game. No one would buy it. Work with what they put in front of your eyes. It lets you know fairly directly what does and doesn't work out.

The people who work with the engine are technical designers. The writers are just writers. And from all indications they are at least making an effort to have the game world be believable. Personally, I think they've done a mostly good job on it.

Apparently some people wouldn't care to read it.

But you can't roleplay without knowing the mind of your character.

Work with what they put in front of your eyes.

By then it's too late; some decisions have already been made.

The only way they could do this is to give us a detailed account of differences from the real world (which they mostly did with DAO) and leave the rest the same.

So do I.

But I still think it's important to point out all the inconsistencies.

Only know  a person who played it in X360. He had no problems, but that´s not much of a reference pool.

I had no problem with 2H, I adapted to the slowwwww attacks pretty well. But going from swinging a normal 2H as if it was the Dragon Slayer to swing a big 2H as a stick was not the answer.

Would remind me of Origins.

*Warden is slashing at ogre*

Warden: Crap, the ogre is loading for a ram, if I run away maybe I won't get hit!

*runs away 15m*

Warden: I should be safe here.

*gets hit*

I knew that when they start something like that they hit, but the knee-jerk reaction is to have your characters run away when that happens.

I quite liked playing a 2H warrior on the PC.  I even made Alistair into one on my archer playthrough.

Judging from the comments on youtube and gametrailers discontent isn't just limited to a small fraction of overcritical whingers on these forums as some devs would like to believe.

This is probably a bad idea.

Really though, the people currently on top of this are pretty much exclusively hardcore forumites clawing for any information they can find. Let's see how it's received when BioWare actually releases something officially... of course, that has its own biases, doesn't it? I guess we'll have to wait for the sales numbers. Which may never get released. Oh well.

Bioware knew the risks of not releasing any gameplay videos and show the demo to the public at events, it was a matter of time to someone release a video that would cause confusion.

Now they need to release a video to undo that and make things clear.
