Also, can this still be an RPG if you can rapid fire, dare I say it, hack and slash through everybody on screen. Dont we need the hits, misses, dodges and parrys?
This looks more like Dead Rising 2 then Dragon Age 2

Well, I would actually hope that this would be an isolated incident and that each of the battles play out differently. Some you steam roll through while others you have to take your time and plan. Not unlike the original Dragon Age.
If it would keep this pace I could imagine this playing out like the original Dungeon Siege on PC. Which quite frankly not that many games play like that (no not Diablo or its clones) so even then, it would be weird but it would be different in a way.

Also, Monica, I'm not sure how you can call manga trash.. it's an art form and it's recognised as an art form as much as comics are, (well perhaps less due to exposure) but regardless just because you might not like it doesn't make it trash.
Some people come across very close minded on here, which is a shame since I'd have thought a community for something like Dragon Age would be very open minded about things and very tolerant of each other's views/choices. Bah.
Actually I consider manga in its current state to be a waste of potential, it could be a hundred times better, just check the manga turned anime series to see what I'm talking about, I've followed a lot of Manga and still do, but it could be much better.
Regarding the DA community, actually you should have thought the other way, most of us here are old school RPG players, some of the people here waited for Origins 4 years to come out after the initial announcement, and to them what they saw in that vid somehow destroyed a lot of things DA:O established itself as, BG spiritual successor wasn't a good marketing stunt after all, and yes it's just a stunt thrown in there for good measure but it turned out to be a very successful stunt, I don't hate the way DA2 is going, but I don't like it either.

Oh lordy. Bioware have already stated many times on this very thread that the pause-and-play mechanics, auto attack etc are still in there. The combat remains unchanged apart from cosmetics: swifter responses to player commands and faster animations to replace the dodgy, slow old ones.

A rpg must be coherent to the world you are playng.. Dragon age is a mature world with his law and tradiction with his creature and people... And see those animation on the game break the atmosfere and make the game lose his identity.. DAO was an original game.. Da2 its too much like a mass effect with sword with dinasty warriors anims and thats really ugly.. I like stylish and faster animation but i prefear the ones seen on the witcher 2 gameplay than the Dragon age 2 gameplay video.. In fact the witcher have his identity dragon age 2 try to look like something else only to follow the fashion way of roleplay games....
And fashion never means quality,,

Well Pzy i have nothing aganist manga style.. But in dragon age they are completely out of tone and looks horrible.. Even Berserk game have exagerrated animation but way better than dragon age..The animation for a great sword are too much faster.. And they not look improved they look ridicolus.. I can agree some people likes this style but dragon age origins have his Identity.. The animation in origins are far for perfect and i always said its better they are improved for the sequel.. This don't mean i want to see trash no sense moves with a warrior that use a greatsword like a staff so faster that you can't see the middle animation... This is what i don't like in much japanase game its not cool its only ridicolus..

The youtube comments on this video are fare more negatively then here on the board cause they know nothing about the game except this video.
So I hope that BioWare step on it and release their gameplay video soon to wash many of those negative comments away.
This forum sometimes feels like the WoW-forum in the last time, and that movement has to be stopped. *g*
So all in all I hope that the guys at Edmonton will deliver a dignified sequel , maybe with less bugs.;P
My excitement for the game and the first ingame video grows with any news, whatever if they're good or bad.

They both suck, but on console the skating reminds me of Too Human which seems strange. But if it retained the Shuffle animation with the new interface that would feel unpolished.
Unpolished vs. strange, wait for next engine for the actual problem to get addressed

BIG #1) The sword, what is with that. First of all way WAY too big, second she swings it around like its nothing. There were big swords in DAO but big ol Sten showed you how hard it is to swing something like that. I liked it better before.
#2) Looks like hack & slash, dashes too fast into attacks, leaping across the screen almost instantly and it doesnt seem like you need a strategy at all. just keep swinging that sword in wide, looping, no windup or recoil swings. I mean at one point I counted at Least 6 darkspawn exploding from a single swing.
#3) Jumping attacks should never be used. If lets say it was possible to swing that thing, its definately absurd to do it while jumping.
#4) Darkspawn are ugly, and not in a good way.
#5) Dont like the new art style. The darker, muddier tones of DAO played towards the serious, darker and more adult side of the game. Terrian is boring (though could be early build)
I'll tell you the only things I do like. Fem-Hawke is hot and I think I saw a mage finishing move in the background where bethany blows up a greyskull and all thats left is two feet from the shin down and one slowly falls over.
oh and gripes numbers 6 and 7: No Morrigan and its not Baldur's Gate 3

So, stay open minded and wait until you see more, especially the stuff AFTER the exaggerated beginning.
