They look like like infected humans with some kind of disease. The design didn't strike
the first time but i think the new desing is growing into me. I wonder what genlocks and broodmothers look like. hmmm.

i'm curious as to how a qunari broodmother would look like, that thing breeds ogres for andraste's sake.

Darkspawn are not zombies ugh. The new designs look like zombies w/ armor. It's stupid.

People who said they would like for DA2 to be like Beserk..in some ways, why not? But not too much. Beserk is darkdarkDARK...and also awesome.

Cool. It even has darkspawns.

darkspawn are kittens compared to the monsters shown in berserk, if the fade was like the demon world or astral plane in berserk the audience would, like alistair puts it "we soil our drawers that's what".

Now that would be a sight I'd like to see. I'd like to see the the process of creating Broodmothers in DA2 described by Hespith. That would be very grotesque but it would bolster the Dark Fantasy setting/atmosphere  of the game, not that it was absent in DAO.

I think the hurlocks in this game fits the description in The Calling.

The problem with animations its: They are too much faster and total out of tone..

Out of tone to what? DAO. SO what, its a new game. They've explicitly said they're trying to establish a new, distinct visual identity for the franchise with DA2. If you don't like it, bad luck.

Monica83 wrote...
can accept style but personally i dont like the japanese style of anims..I loved DAO because have his IDENTITY..

Its visual identity was a cliched medieval style. Not bad but not great either. They're right to try and establish a new identity.

Monica83 wrote...
Tis sad to see that cutted off only for the pleasure of casual gamer..

You can't possibly come to that conclusion before playing it. At least not with any objectivety.

Monica83 wrote...
DAO was a wawe of resh air on rpg because when all others follows the new Fashion style of rpg DAO stays original.. .

How is being in the style of BG being original?

Monica83 wrote...
Now with dragon age 2 with dialog wheel paraphrase system and manga trash animation we have lose the identity of this wonderfull world to play... Its a clone of something else... Put some mass effect.. Put some dinasty warrior... Its another new fashion rpg game whitout identity...Sad but true..

By that logic DAO was a clone of BG a game you obviously liked. Now they're bringing in new influences that you don't like, meh it all comes down to nothing but personal preference.

As for mass effect how can it be a clone without shooting mechanics and a cover system. As for dynasty warriors or god of war or whatever other cliche you want to spout  how can it be a clone when it will undoubtedly have a deep story, good characters and good dialogue.

Just out of curiosity Morroian, while I'm hopeful Mike is correct and the PC version doesn't play much different than DAO, why is it every game has to go the way of ME2 or whatever the big blockbuster of the year is? Is there no room for ONE series in the lieu of BG/IWD/NWN?

I continue to read rude, condescending posts from folks like yourself, that essentially tell people to suck and up and deal with change, when there's a portion of us that actually enjoyed Dragon Age for what it was, and what it was meant to be, a spiritual successor to Baldur's gate. Can people that are diehard fans of that style of RPG have one series? Are we allowed that?

That being said, I hope the changes to speed up combat actually make things better, and hopefully they can clean up that "teleport" charge, granted its an alpha build, and unfinished at this point, but that seriously looks not much better than the "shuffle" right now.

actually from what i've been reading there's a lot more condescending post from the other side of the fence that doesn't like the changes, making us out to be inept casual console youngsters that don't know any better just because we like the changes.

you're allowed to express your constructive criticism but don't start berating on people that like the changes like some people i've seen doing here

If combat is too fast, then I'll probably have to pause all the time and it'll be less actiony.

I said similar when the first shots were released. The classic ds had a grimace and was unique, the new DS look more like undead. The media- games and movies are saturated with undead and anything scary/cool was lost long ago. All imho of course.

Okay.
David Gaider is just the writer.

If you are so inclined to be placing blame on the "head guy", then you would blame Mike, as he is higher up on the food chain. I am not endorsing blaming any of the dev team at all. I'm just saying (for the billionth time) that David Gaider does not make the game single-handedly in his basement.

EA doesn't go into the Bioware offices and say "Alright, remove X feature and do X feature.".

Maybe not.

But I'd really like to *believe* that it isn't our Bioware guys responsible for ...this.

I love how you come to the conclusion that the entire game is going to suck based off a few minutes of bootleg video. Will it most likely look and play as like we saw? Yes. But come on. Saying the entire game is going to suck?

I never said it's going to suck. Not once.

It's just not going to be ANYTHING like DA:O which is going to ruin it for a lot of us who loved DA:O and are wanting a sequel.

David & Co are behind the creative direction for this game whether you want to believe it or not - if you think David has no say then you're mistaken.

And the reason I addressed it to David is because I used to hang around the bioware forums back during the baldur's gate era and he was always awesome about talking to us.

although it may not look it, rest assured that the people who played the demo said that it felt like a dragon age game. just see the threads of the people that played it, like siroccam for instance.

It comes from both sides regardless if you want to admit it or not. Not every game, more so when it comes to RPG's needs to be a full on real time action fest. Not everyone enjoys twitch based combat in their RPG's. I couldn't even get through more than a couple hours of The Witcher even though I wanted to, because of the combat, I felt it was that bad.

Now I'm not saying DA2 is going to be like  that, because we've been assured it will still retain the ability of pause and play on the PC for those who perfer that type of game, and I'm fine with that, hopefully we still get a tactical camera and the increased speed of combat still allows for that style without feeling odd.

DAO's combat wasn't perfect, there was certainly room for improvement, in the same sense though refinements are different than going to the opposite extreme. At the end of the day though I would hope DA2 still "feels" like Origins on the PC. If I wanted to play Mass Effect2, I'd play Mass Effect 2, if I wanted to play Final Fantasy XVIIIIIIIIII I'd play that game.

Why did the videos get taken down?

Anyway, here's another link I found, perhaps the OP can edit this one into the first post:

http://leakerz.net/w...eaked-gameplay/

P.S. Someone please rip the video and put another copy up on youtube in case it gets taken down.

I play the PC, but  I agree with nightcobra8928. Some of the people here who like the changes are being criticized unfairly in this thread.

I love the video, visually is must better and I do not see the anime style what are you people talking about? just because they are not ugly that doesn't mean they have now a final fantasy game, it seem to me more like Fable then anything else. And by the way that video is a exaggeration, because of Varic so I really doubt the actually gameplay is going to look as bad ass as that. To me they are doing great and by the way I hope Bethany stays dress like that or at least something close to that, the last screenshots of her with that cowboy thing in the neck were really bad.

Dungeon Siege 3 maybe and that's a huge maybe. But as far as I'm concerned Dragon Age 2 is just another victim of lost identity.

I'm so confused about the Darkspawn. if you had the Architect "free" them in Awakening I can understand that some if not most would still just want to kill people but is their new look an outcome of the Architects Joining ritual or are there just different kinds of darkspawn?

if you notice, the legs during the closing attack almost don't move at all and the stance doesn't change that much. this tells me that some animations aren't finished, so i'll until a more complete version appears.

No, the event that is presented there is during the destruction of Lothering.

I saw a trailer of DS3, it was very different from the other two...

The artistic style and combat reminded me of...well I'm not really sure, just different. Fast, fast, fast.

Not saying that is good or bad, DS was always action rpg. I like those as well, just not as much as RPG's.

Ah, I would indeed hope that is the case. And teleportation is a no go...not for a lot of people here apparently though. But that is only a part of the problem. I doubt they will cancel the silly jump-and-hit-the floor and the street fighter like arc effect. But indeed, at least some more footwork would do the moves good.
