I love the video, visually is must better and I do not see the anime style what are you people talking about?
You haven't seen enough anime then.
Either way, this just sounds like, based on what Gaider has said, they're pandering to more people because they want to hit a 10 million mark. I'm sorry but there isn't 10 million gamers who are into this genre, or at least, 10 million who are into a single player rpg. Maybe 5, at most I'd wager. By appealing to the people who wouldn't otherwise buy a Bioware game, you're dragging the quality of the game down as a result.
Maybe instead of spending so much time and money on a game, developers can cut their teamsize and have full reign over their product and the only thing EA will do is advertise. Smaller groups I honestly believe are better able to come out and say "heyo man, the way you're doing this doesn't quite work." instead of whatever you do now. OR, actually what I'd LOVE to see (but will never happen) is public betas a few months from release on every "large" game that is a portion of the game or something representitive. Like something lasting maybe 10% of the game or 10% of the content? This way the devs get more feedback and when it's released they actually have a better game overall.
*wistful thinking*
Basically what I'm saying is games need more playtesting in general. By having it be public instead of paid testing, there are more honest replies and reports, plus you get a large portion of your userbase commenting on any little problems that need fixing. If you're going to appeal to large amounts of people to buy your game, at least make it something they will enjoy rather than what you will enjoy (which it's kind of hard to not enjoy a game you worked 7 years on)
