And in DAO are the two-handed swords quite as large? (I know the model is the same)
And do they swing said swords with such speed so effortlessly?

If your suspension of belief is so poor as to be completely caught up by the size of a two handed sword and how they swing it, then I assume you must really ticked off about how you can take armor off a human and equip it on a dwarf or elf and it magically scales to their size! So unrealistic!

This game, nor Origins, is not an accurate historical recreation. This is medieval fantasy. Exaggerations are made all the time, from the size of your sword to the way that getting hit in the arm with a sword may do 10 damage but your arm is still attached to your body. Or how all your companions in Origins are somehow immune to Darkspawn taint even with a Shriek nawing on their face.

I find it simply amazing how people will nitpick certain aspects while others are just completely overlooked. If some people have such a selective suspension of disbelief than I really feel sorry for them having to deal with such a crippling OCD-like condition. Whether my two-hand sword is a more accurate 50-60 inches or exaggerated to more like 80 inches should not be a dealbreaker. And if it is, well, there's really nothing I can say to that.

No one is complaining on the amount of gore, damn it! It has been said that the action is exaggerated to high level ones, and thus they will just look as silly, no?

I got the impression from the devs that the combat will be more responsive. Only the exaggerated parts are because of Varric's fantastical narration - until Cassandra says something. Where does it say that the rest of the game will be exaggerated like what is shown in the (rather short) footage?

lol just after the battle on the video, hawke and bethany talk a little, a few more darkspawn appear and after that a dragon appears and the exaggerated part ends clocking about  5-7 minutes into the demo.

I know what is accurate. Am I expecting them to add moves like actually using a two-handed sword's handguard to trip the opponent down in order to stab him? Am I expecting them to make it so every blow of one-handed sword on an adequately armored foe would bounce off?
No
I'm mere expecting SOME amount of realistic approach! Enough to be convincing, enough to be an rpg that a few people and I could believe in. Is that too much to ask now?

But reading through the pages again, I've seen people go "since it's in the game that means I'll to play it. This isn't Dragon Age.". I don't even think they hate the game, I just think they want to see Dragon Age 2 fail to prove themselves right.

This thread alone is why they didn't want to give out footage, people will see it and go "WHAT THE FLYING ****" thinking this is the entire game. It's been explained a hundred times by now but people still don't get that this is the EXAGGERATED VERISON OF THE GAMEPLAY.

My god, stop going "OH LOOK AT ALL THAT BLOOD IT'S ANIME OMFG DRAGON AGE IS RUINED FOREVER". I can understand being qary of the game itself or somethinng, yet going around parading how this is the worst thing ever and how this isn't DA2 is silly.

If people are going to react as you say now, then they certainly will later as well.

And while the gore is ridiculous, it doesn't mean that the fact that it will be harder, and with less gore when you start to play "for real", will make it any less ridiculous. You will still have the jumps, the rolls, the will haymaker swings, all the *I feel like inserting a rude term, but I abstain* silly stuff that is taken right out of an arcade game, or a JRPG.

So basicly, unless the gameplay when we eventually see it will be entirely different, which I very much doubt, then DA2 has been reduced to just another slash burn slash hack game.

BTW, if you fist have to play "exaggarated", and then the "real thing" for each chapter or whatever they will call the progress of the game, and hold that up to the fact that this game will be shorter than DA:O, then I wonder just how much of the game-play that will be without combat? Mhmm.. as per ME2, I'll wager.

Ok, this thread has turned pretty hostile with multiple poeple fighting and belittling each other. That and the fact the video has been taken down means this thread is now closed.

We understand you want a gameplay video (and a propper one, not 2 minutes of shakey cam footage) and we are working on one. I have no date to give you when to expect it, but stay tuned for updates.

LOCKDOWN!

You're asking for realism in an exaggerated scene that makes Hawke out to be the most badass since badassery town was invented by Benjamin Badass.

that's the impression i got from some people, like they want DA2 to fail so that bioware is forced to make BG3 for the "real" fans and even that logic is baffling.
