After reading many of the guide threads about the insanity play-through, I figured I would give the engineer a try and see how it works.  Like many of you, I never really gave the class much credit as it just appeared so gimped outside of dealing with the Geth but after running a few missions, I’m surprised on how much fun the class really is.  Right now, I’m running with the AR+warp ammo and use my drone to distract the enemy while I position my team.  It’s pretty funning watching how some of the enemy will react to the drone….

Anyways, the main problem I’m having is dealing with those darn husks in that the drone only distracts them to a certain point and then I end up running like hell.  Have any of you “experts” out there tried some runs as an engineer and have some good advice?

There are some really interesting guides around:

Engineering The Asylum - Extensive video guide by Average Gatsby (including tips how to fight Husks)
Thorough Guide into Engineering - very informative guide by Jaekahn
Total Control - Engineer + Dominate - capable of controlling organics and synthetics alike, by INMWME

I recorded a vid inspired by INMWME's guide: Master of Puppets

Sinosleep plays his Engineer aggressively:

Shotgun engineer takes on dantius towers
Shotgun engineer vol 2. Grunt makes a good drone

Engineers are lots of fun playing around with and they're capable to fight in many different ways - have fun!

Incinerate, incinerate, incinerate, Incinerate, incinerate, incinerate, Incinerate, incinerate, incinerate.

And then Incinerate.

It will strip their armour, or kill them if they are unprotected. If you want to skip the armour stripping then use the Carnifex.

Yep. Incinerate is awesome against armor. For husk-heavy missions I recommend Incineration Blast for the AoE. I brought Mordin along as well plus a biotic to one-shot them once their armor was gone.

Don't use the drone against husks. It's one of the only types of enemy where it really doesn't pay off.

Thanks for the update folks! One of the great things about ME is that there are so many ways to play the classes that it really makes it fun for multiple play-throughs.

Husks go down really fast with an engineer if you bring mordin along. With his cryo blast, he can kill them in a 3m radius every 4.5 seconds and you have area incinerate to strip their armor. I usually bring grunt for a tank or samara along for a reave\\pull option. My last engineer also had stasis all along, it ohk husks, freezes scions and is just a really good complement to the drone imho
