Except no one, not even the Chantry itself and its zealous Templars, believe it exists in the first place and dimiss it as a myth. Which makes the whole quest even more ridiculous, especially when playing a non-Andrastrian who has 0 reason to believe in the myth.

So yea, it's a complete waste of time, all because the idiot Teagan doesn't want to replace his brother.

Teagan obviously doesn't command the respect that Eamon does.

I still love this quest, regardless.  It might be my favorite.  It is all about the lore, and everything- the art, the music, the emotion- is ace.  Sometimes, as with the Dalish stuff, it's about the lore and the world, not just the main quest.

The atmosphere and the background of the quest is certainly interesting, and I do love the way there are multiple ways to do it.

To be sure, the quest is a long shot attempt to save Aemon, but the existence of the ashes quickly gains credibility when the warden discovers someone is actively trying to keep him off the Genetivi's trail. It is too bad there wasn't an option to skulk around Denerim looking for dealers in exotic poisons to track down the poison used and antidote instead.

*Anyways* just wondering, but have you thought of a reason why Kolgrim/the High dragon wants the Ashes destroyed? Complete spoiler for the FF I am writing (who really reads those things anyways?) but I am thinking that the dragon wants the Ashes destroyed because the lyrium in the temple (that apparently Oghren senses is there?) is tied to the ashes. Desecrate the ashes...and thats a whole lot of lyrium that can now be used for anything!

Bear with me here for a sec. I have this theory (one of many) that the taint and Blights are an attempt to destroy the Old Gods/Archdemon - essentially part of conflict between whatever powered Andraste and the Tevinter Magisters. If that were true, the High Dragons may just be on the side of the Archdemons (they certainly seem to have some similar abilities) and want whatever power the ashes hold destroyed.

But he is respected by the bannorn and whatever respect Eamon commands would be at the very least partialy "transferred" to Teagan once he becomes Arl of Redcliff. Add the fact taht he is also his brother and his heir should anything happen to Connor. Not to mention that Eamon does very little anyways and other than calling for the landsmeet, you do all of the work.

So in short, yes Teagan is an idiot and he made us waste time for potentially nothing.

Wait - why are you blaming Teagan for this?

He doesn't want his brother to die, which is understandable.  But he doesn't have the power to call off the search, at least not for the knights, does he?  I mean, what's he supposed to do?

Become Arl of Redcliff and call a landsmeet, instead of making us waste our time on a myth to cure his brother while there is a Blight destroying the land

That was going to be in the original plot as a possibility.
You could say screw the Urtn, let Eamon die and Teagan would call the Landsmeet.

Which is why Loghain had a cut fade dream as well, originally you were supposed to be able to just skip it.
Must have been cut out though.
