I wounder if Liara will send SB agents to help shepard in ME3? that would be awkward for me but cool as hell

Perhaps...why would that be awkward, though?

Presumably because GamerFSS86 would have been so used to shooting at them.

It would be awesome if Liara came with you for missions even if she wasn't a squaddie. It would really suck if she was just an npc who doesn't move from a 3 meter box.

but think of the possibilities that you will have in ME3 with Liara where she is at... sending agents to help you

"SB agent"  Hello Commander Shepard, The Shadow Broker sends his regards.

"Shepard" Smiles [because he knows who the SB is]

and Liara will have the biggest character involvement in ME3 story ending

I wonder if Liara will run into Tazzik from Redemption again in the future. That might be interesting. I wonder what she would think of that and what she might do. Would be quite the awkward "hello" if they ever meet again.

Oh, I forgot about him.  Yeah, Tazzik now works for Liara.  Like I mentioned before, I doubt Tazzik (or any other agents) will care if there's a new SB, as long as the business is still profitable for them.

The meeting would be odd, but funny...I kind of want to see it now.

Liara could mess with his mind if they meet. I can see it now:

Tazzik:"WTF! you!"

Liara "Thats right, I was the shadowbroker the whole time, I was just testing you".

;P

I don't know...some think he might be a different type of Salarian, the Lystheni.

Or, he's taking 'roids...

But who knows....we might be way off and she will be a squad mate the entire game.  Though, they would have a lot of explainig to do, like, why isn't Liara running the SB network?

Heh, after killing Shepard and resurrecting him/her in the very next scene, Bioware are apt to do just about anything... Perhaps the first mission (ie. the tutorial section) is aboard the SB ship, trying to reach Liara before it blows up?

Yes yes, I know... would be a dumb move to set up her with a power base and strip it away immediatly. But much less so than meaninglessly killing the main character and then bringing him/her back like it was just another day in the office.

I love the idea, jlb524. ;)

I have another theory which is close to yours, but isn't as radical. ;)

The SB would indeed be able to backup Shepard's mission in ME3. The SB is wealthy and has access to vital information, but also the means to distribute it. Information warfare is already a fact of life and in the ME universe the SB has brought it to an epic scale.

I think the Alliance has probably more (financial) resources, but there is a limit to what is actually needed. No doubt it will match whoever is funding Shepard's mission.

Another Ilos-like scenario would be too repetitive for BW to use. Full scale war looks unlikely too. The reapers have a force too large to allow a simple epic battle. So, there must be some "secret key" as you suggest.

BW didn't treat the series as a true trilogy (in the sense of it being a traditional consistent story in 3 parts). That would be rather complex. You can see them removing key characters or having characters or events end up in the same storyline. Impact of choices has always been cosmetic. Instead they approach ME as a collection of 3 independent stories that are closely related to each other. Other than having lots of cameos I cannot see choices of parts 1 and 2 playing a major role in the final events. That would give new players a disadvantage. It feels like that's the way how BW approaches the franchise up until now. I don't like the idea, but it looks likely it ends up that way.

By now Shepard has gathered a lot of allies. But I don't think these will be used as armies or even play vital roles. They will somehow play cameo roles in that "secret key" scenario instead. That allows for more personal gameplay and storytelling for those who played ME1 and ME2. It also allows these to be replaced by default "solutions" for those who haven't played the earlier parts. Everyone needs to be able to win the game, right?

There is no need to kill off Shepard or making her start at level 1. All stats could be imported from ME2 and the level could be capped to 60. New powers could be added to accomodate that. That would allow classes with about the same number of powers as those in ME1. We will see some of the old ones back, like carnage and stasis and some completely new ones thrown in the mix. New players would simple get double the experience points to reach level 60.

I agree with what you said about the death and resurrection of the protagonist being just a meaningless plot device. But I think it's better to keep the disappointment with ME 2 out of this thread. LotSB does prove that BioWare can do better. The complaints against the main game remain valid, but hopefully they have learnt from it. After this DLC, I am hopeful again that ME 3 will be good.
