A while ago, while playing, I had the debug console open and I typed in the command "dm_givegold #", with the pound sign, and not a number. Since then, the cursor in the debug console for me has been a red "#" sign, and the only commands that seems to work are DebugMode 1 and DebugMode 0. I have unisntalled and reinstaleld the game but I still get the same issue. As the title states, please help. I do not want to have to tresort to wiping the hard drive and starting again, but if I have to I will.
PLEASE HELP!!

The red cursor is normal.
I don't think the dm_givegold command works. It doesn't for me anyway. Other commands like giveitem work fine.

dm_givegold does work. I don't know about that # issue though. You didn't somehow change your money settings to another nation or something? ummm - just shooting in the dark, here.
[edit] found this somewhere: dunno what's up with dm_givegold i just do dm_givegold x x (2 of the same value) and then it works.

Okay, with some trepidation, I backed up every .ini file in Program Files and Documents and tried to reproduce your problem. I couldn't. Something else is going on. Maybe Shift or Alt were down, or you munged two keys together or something. Do look in all your ini's first though before scrubbing the HD. You might also take a peek into your Windows Registry for NWN2 settings there.
While I'm at it, I should point out that I've NEVER seen that red cursor that you and Kaldor have. Maybe there's some general information about the debug console - for developers info, not just a list of commands - that can be found out there somewhere.

Here's another tidbit:
Instead of using the console, you can also use the chatbar.
just type ##DebugMode 1 in the chat-bar and hit enter.
Then type any command you like using ## in front if it.
Don't forget to end your code session with ##DebugMode 0 Playing and saving the game with debugmode active can cause problems.

Maybe fiddling with your Chat settings can help. Or putting aside any Chat mod you're currently using.

As documented here, the trick to using dm_givegold is that you have to right-click on the character before opening the console. Left clicking on the character is sufficient for some commands, like givexp, but for some reason is not sufficient for the dm_givegold command.
Once I right-clicked on the character rather than left-clicking the dm_givegold command worked fine.
