I've looked around a bit but haven't found anything that I felt conclusively answered my question.

Do the events of Witch Hunt occur before or after the events in Awakening?  I'm thinking Awakening events occurred first but if anybody knows where this is definitively addressed then please post links.  TIA.  :)

I've finished it before awakening with no problems but it's supposed to be after awakening.

One reason for that is that at the end of awaakening you hear something about Morrigan. And then with WH you do it.

Same here.  Playing WH  (for the third time now, with a different Warden) straight after DA:O.
Will go back and do DA:A (for the fourth or fifth time Posted Image ) after that.

Not that there's a canon to follow, but the GENERAL timeline is:

LS  takes place "some years" before the beginning of DA:O
DA:O  Starts in 9:30 Dragon, lasts about 1 - 1.5 years
TSP, RtO, and WK  all occur within the above (although it is  possible to do any or all AFTER)
DA:A  Starts approx. six months after the end of DA:O, so 9:31 or 32 Dragon
GoA  Starts approx. six months after end of DA:A, so 9:32 or 33 Dragon
WH  Starts approx. one year after end of DA:O, so again 9:32 or 33 Dragon (not clear if after GoA.)

What about "The DLC Which Must Not Be Named"?  Never happened, so doesn't matter! Posted Image

Well, if you go into Witch Hunt and look at the big map, there are locations that you cannot go to but can mouse over and get information. If you mouse over Vigil's Keep, there is some mention of the attack by the Mother 2 years ago. So definitely, Witch Hunt occurs AFTER Awakening.

Thanks for the responses. Haven't played Witch Hunt yet as I'm still working my way through first playthrough of Awakening. I understood Witch Hunt occurs about a year after events of DA:O but I wasn't sure exactly where Awakening fit in.

Aww man.. I wanted to do Witch Hunt first so that I'd get all the reward items in Awakening, but from all I hear here that'll mess up the plot. Any advice?

I don't think you'll mess up the plot. As I said I finished WH before awakening (and then again after awakening).
Don't know about other classes but if you're a mage there's a pretty good item in WH, the vestments of the seer that is definitely worth getting. If that transports to awakening then why not? Personally I couldn't wait to play and finish WH, I even enjoyed awakening more after I finished WH because I didn't have to wonder where the heck Morrigan is :)
In my second playthough though WH comes last (so all changes and decisions are neatly recorded for DA2 :) )

Guess the fact that you can disappear with Morrigan obviously means that you went into Awakening @.@

Nope :)
Plot-wise it is certain that WH comes after awakening (the confirmation also comes from an epilogue slide in awakening). But it pays to play it before so as to have all the equipment. Although after finishing awakening maybe it's a good idea to play it again, if for nothing else, so as to potentially have all choices made in awakening recorded at the last save of WH (and transported to DA2)

Acharnae: I was at first confused with what you're trying to say.

From the text you wrote, I conclude that you played Witch Hunt with character A in order to get the DLC items through achievements that transfer to all characters. Then you used another character B to go in order from Origins to Awakening and then Witch Hunt.

AFAIK, you cannot load a WH save file into Awakening. In other words, you can't play out of sequence with the same character carried forward. I can see you loading your Origins character A into Witch Hunt and then afterwards, loading that same Origins character A into Awakening.

Yep that's what I did. Sorry if it wasn't clear.
Very specifically:
I imported my character from DAO to WH. (from a post coronation save game)
I played WH and finished it. (items and achievements unlocked).
Then I imported the very same character/save game from DAO to Awakening.
After finishing awakening I imported that character (from awakening) to WH and finished WH a second time.

Hmmm . . . I have one AW that I use as a "Trail-blazer" who goes in sequence through all the new DLC's. Unfortunately, she wasn't strong enough to take the Harvester on Nightmare.

So . . . I had a DW Rogue (Zy-El my namesake) that I used as a "Hammer" who wins all the achievements on Nightmare. In Golems, she practically solo'd the Harvester and his minions; the rest of my ragtag party was shredded in the first minute of combat. She pretty much sleep-walked through WH to get to Morrigan and finish the campaign. Sad.

After that, all new characters I create have a much easier time of it.
