Uhh.....I've watched the video multiple times. Just how did Liara's sobbing not work with Hale's voice acting?

For exmaple, Meer takes X seconds to perform the line "I have to have something to come back to, " while Hale takes X + 1 secs to do that. The extra one second means some differences between the male and female animations have to be accounted for.
This is effectively the case. It's not an exact science and most often than most people can't tell the difference.
So, because many will not notice the difference (I'm guessing they will, now!), you will use that to justify neglecting FemShep animations.
So, was it a deadline, or you guys just couldn't be bothered . . . . ??

A wizard did it.
Honestly? I don't know, guess it was an oversight on their part perhaps?

I'm not sure I follow. I counted the seconds on the comparison video in the original post and the scenes seem virtually identical in length, there's certainly no difference that would prohibit the audio from being used in the female version.Jesse Houston wrote...

Thanks. While this may or may not be the reason for Liara's lack of a smile as she says "I'm open to suggestions," I believe the accumulated differences in length of time in delivering those lines can add up and the animations can differ noticeably.

I appreciate an actual developer coming in here and trying to quell our concerns but we would have to be completely stupid to believe that the difference in body shapes would cause the sobbing audio to not play for FemShep. And Jlb hit the nail on the head....how does FemShep's size cause Liara not to smile toward the end in the cabin scene??
^^ This.

From what I gathered, the size of the body only impacts the clipping errors. The reason the animations are different is because of how the lines are delivered, and Jesse Houston said exactly that.rynluna wrote...

Hale took a longer time to deliver the line, therefore the "Liara smile" animation was altered to accomodate.

This.
FemShep's animations aren't the top priority - as FemShep players, we're used to some of her movements looking a little funky. But for Liara's expressions and dialogue to be different? No justifiable reason as far as I can see.
Honestly, if it was an oversight I'd just like clarification, not a flimsy excuse. People respond a lot better to the truth than BS.

I view them as a case of the aesthetics of those particular scenes. For the cuddling scene where Liara smiles and does not smile in Maleshep and Femshep's scenes respectively, I thought it appropriate that she does not smile when Femshep said "I have to have something to come back to." She looks lost in the moment as Femshep said that. I find it appropriate. So basically, I don't view the lack of a smile as a detraction.

How does Hale's delivery affect Liara's facial expressions exactly?

Which is a shame really; a slight difference in animation shouldn't hinder what is otherwise an excellent DLC.GodWood wrote...

... But that is not the case when Liara is crying. On that part Shepard doesn't say anything before, and it's Liara who speaks first on that specific moment. So, I still don't get it...
