There is one fallacy in this thread, that I really think should be buried and that is the search of any in-game explanation for the difference. Even if such is in no way the cause of any of the differences here; media is produced for consumption by contemporary people and as such will reflect contemporary philosophy, trends, technology and fashion, regardless of how fantasy or sci-fi it is. This has always been the case and there are always target groups being homed in on, with expensive productions.

I also can't see how the maleshep version is any more emotional than the femshep one - I'd say the contrary - the extra wide smiles and loud sobbing feels superficial and pandering to would-be knights in shining armor in search of damsels in distress (evil tounges might suggest: those who were targetted with the ME1 to ME2 changes), whereas the more restrained one feels deep, actually caring and the culimination of two years of strain. Interpretations differ. :)

(Meer doesn't help any, of course... I have defended him before, saying understatement is realistic, but what I hear in the LotSB video linked in the original post is almost painful; he sounds more like he's reading out instruction steps loud from a manual, to a group of people, than anything else.)

Lol. Amusing thread. So, as evidenced by the OP's videos, Liara smiles more with maleShep than femShep in the end scenes. I won't comment on Liara's sobbing, (many variables, none really 'malicious,' etc--only conjecture at this point), but I will state that it is not as 'insulting' as one might think that Liara is smiling with maleShep as she says "I'm open to suggestions." This could be pure interpretation. I find Liara not smiling to be more emotionally (and sexually) aroused by Shepard as she is possibly more serious / unable to control herself. Combine that with her eyes closed and it makes for an intense scene.  Or perhaps Liara's character is more coy with males because she realizes the effect Asari have on this particular gender.  Or perhaps Bioware made her more coy (by smiling) in anticipation of the majority of maleSheps (male gamers) finding that more to their liking.  Without Bioware specifically stating the reasons for such differences, we cannot imply causality (as I have stated, we can only theorize). But we also must not make hasty generalizations. I am not opposed to the thread; raising awareness is commendable. However, objectivity never hurts.

I watched both videos (cuddling scene) and seriously started to think that Liara struggles within herself to not burst in to laught because of all those scars on maleShep face... or maybe she just cant stand maleShep voice .

In case of femShep everything really have bigger and more serious depth..., they both known that real troubles (especially when Shep says to timmy " Sayonara blindy faith" and Liara become Shadow Broker) just started without clear answers above horizon.
What is important for me... fire of thier relationship burns again  and seriously i preffer to seeing that they treat incoming problems seriously than behave like High school tenageers on first date:kissing:... for that will come time when Harby will be dealt for.:police:

I still didn't get a concrete answer on why Liara sobs for MaleShep and not my FemShep since there are no lines spoken by Hale before that instance.....

Which is what we clearly stated was the biggest issue right at the beginning. It's been completely ignored.

It sounds like the actually spent far more time with femshep, with her different animations, editing the scenes seperately instead of just the maleshep copy/paste. That led to small differences.

I wonder how possible it will be for them to do edit together different cutscenes in ME3 for maleshep and femshep while making sure they are 100% identical so people don't riot over minor differences? Probably just better for them to copy/paste Sheploo.

Well I empthasized the most important issue in the OP.  We get that they can't fix the animations in the DLC.  The audio issue is still something I would like a better explanation for.  It may not affect you because you prefer Liara silently crying or you actually have never romanced her with your canon but it matters to me and others that are missing that very emotional scene in their game that they paid for.

I know it seems odd because it's not related to my main point of contension with Liara's plot, but the emotion that is added to the scene really gets to me. I'm sure I would have had absolutely no initial problem with it had this content been seen.

I disagree. We paid money. I paid money for an experince, not a half-assed put together experince when Maleshep got better treatment. It's always been like this,  LotSB however hit home when you don't even hear Liara cry if you play a Femshep.<_<

the worst thing is

it wasn't always like this. i had zero complaints for ME1

back then we didnt have such a large female community. Any complaints of ME1 would be about gameplay bugs

I guess now it's about animations and rommance...

The scene between femshep and liara was very good in my opinion. There seems to be small differences but nothing to major. Im hoping bioware make changes to the more scenes depending on gender. I got more upset when my vanguard was holding an AR during sceens more.

On a positive note, a BioWare representative replied to this topic! That goes to show that the company is willing to listen to fan concerns, and he stated that all of the romances are equally valuable! This gives me hope for the resolution of Kaidan and Ashley romances, and they haven't been forgotten!

Hopefully, BioWare will take the issues with the Liara romance into account and perhaps add/omit sobbing noises or other features for both ManShep and FemShep equally in ME3/future DLC.

Exactly. It's one bug. And since femshep in your opinion makes the "okay" bit sound better (she's a different VA, sure, but I think it's better with Meer) then why does it matter so much? It was an oversight more than anything else, I could almost guarantee it..

That's really all we can hope for now.  Speaking of the VS DLC and any future DLC before ME3, I will be studying it closely to see how FemShep is handled in it.  I hope there will be improvements for the main character of Mass Effect.

This is nitpicking. At a purely cosmetic one. Both scenes have exactly the same understood meaning. Liara is still having a cathartic moment, nor is it assigned any difference in intensity to either with or without the mute button. Seriously, we need serious issues of storytelling to argue here, not whether or not one can hear the cries in ones emotion: the impact of the proceeding scene is the same.

And you won't be the only one either. Honestly, this has been a real eye opener for me. What's done is done. I would still like more clarification regarding the crying scene, but at this point I think I just need to move forward. I'm hoping that if we stay vigilant that moving forward we can get closer to what we want and what we've envisioned for our Shepard.

While that may be your opinion, I think plenty people here have made it clear that they feel otherwise. There's obviously a large amount of people that feel strongly about this.
