As I said before, both scenes are well done - I don't even think I have a preference - I'm just not buying the explanation that this is simply an audio glitch. There are lots of spots in the game where character's mouths move but no sound is heard - I still think this is something else - dunno what or why though.

I'd like to extend my thanks and appreciation to Jesse Houston for taking the time to respond to this thread, address a few problems, and clarify the situation regarding the altered animations and audio in LotSB dependant on Shepard's gender. It is very much appreciated, as I know that the development staff are extremely busy people. Thanks!

I almost already feel sad, thinking ME3 will be the last installment.
So, thank you rynluna for voicing the concern; and thank you Bioware for listening.

You're a true hero. When I used to work similar hours, after I got home I just punched the air, cursed my clients and passed out in pure anger
It's nice to see a dev responding, but what about all the other bugs? is there a 1.03 patch planned for the near future? (hopefully before ME2 PS3).

Stall what process? You do realize that a Dev already commented here. And it still wasn't enough to satisfy your idiocy. That is all you're gonna get until he believes it is necessary to comment again. Until then, you are stuck with us "average joes" telling you how stupid you are. Keep playing the victim. It'll get you far in life.
You know you are actually making a bigger deal than most of us have today, right? If the audio glitch had no effect on you, then why are you still here? Bioware makes an obvious mistake but as their paying customer, I'm not allowed to make a deal out of it? I didn't result to name calling the developers like you have to me.
I'm making a bigger deal out of this? I'm not the one making false strawman accusations towards BioWare because I'm looking for any miniscule differences in FemShep and MaleShep. By the time you read this, You should already realise how wrong and pathetic you've been. Good Day.

Me, too. I don't think ME1 had nearly as much clipping. It gets annoying as hell.LordMandalore wrote...
I find it funny that Mass Effect 2 is chalk full of clipping issues, and one involving Liara sends the forum into a rage.

Hey Folks,
You guys can believe me or not, but at the end of the day, please understand that are we working very hard to give you folks the best possible experience on both FemShep and ManShep. I promise you though, that what you're seeing as differences are glitches and not intentional at all. This was not oversight or rushed, it was simply a bug that was missed.
We take this stuff very seriously, which is why after a 17 hour workday (working to bring you folks more quality stuff) I'm now at home catching up on this thread. We're reading this and many other forum posts and we will be putting a renewed effort to ensure these sorts of bugs do not occur on any potential future DLC and Mass Effect titles. Our goal has and will continue to be to ensure that female and male Shepard have a truly equitable experience and that no one group of people feel left out.
Thanks everyone for keeping an eye out for quality and thanks to those who provided respectful and honest feedback. I know at the end of the day, all everyone here is looking for is the best possible game. Understand that we too are doing whatever we can to deliver on that expectation!
-Jess
Thank you Jesse! 17 hrs omg! That tops me when I used to work a lot. I hope you get some rest.

Most people here never considered this to be intentional, it's just that your original reply didn't mention that the difference really was a bug which left your response open for interpretation. This is much more of a direct answer.Jesse Houston wrote...

Is Jesse referring to the Liara cutscene with this statement? I'm unable to tell what Jesse is specifically referring to in any of the posts, or if the comments are just meant to be taken as generalities.
A bug (presumably an audio bug) that is creating an alternate - perfectly acceptable - version of the cutscene with different but still emotionally appropriate facial animations?

Like the audio, the facial animation actually seems to be missing in the Femshep scenes. Liara's "distant pensivedavidshooter wrote...

look" you mentioned is actually just her default look. The Femshep version basically seems like an earlier draft of the scene (MaleShep left, FemShep right):

It's the same thing with Liara not smiling later on; it's the default look again and the smile is quite simply missing. Whatever the reason for these bugs/glitches, it's good to see Bioware respond to the matter and promise they'll try to prevent these issues from appearing in future content.

It seems that in the video games industry these days, only "real" (technical) bugs are fixed anymore, so neither the Conrad Verner bug for example, nor this one will probably ever be fixed. Especially since the game can't be modded as far as content like this is concerned, otherwise the community would be able to release a patch within a day. Anyway, at least it wasn't intentional, and the scene is still beautiful regardless. The promise to treat male and female Shepard equally is nice to read too.

I thought of exactly what you have posted but the tears in the "default" face made me change my mind on that - but you may still be correct. If you are correct, I would be less likely to believe it's a "bug" than the scene slipped through unfinished somehow. If it is an actual "bug" they really lucked out in that the "default" face has a beautiful pensive look to it with the tears and still works in context. I actually think the first image at the top of the page is nicer than the second.

I agree, that seems to be the most likely explanation.

It's not a big deal to me if they fix it or not. I was happy as soon as I saw Liara in the squad in the DLC as I knew she could be modded into the rest of the game with Gibbed (even on a 360). I now have saves with her in squad for all my favorite missions in the main game - so I now have the ME2 I wanted. Everything else was gravy.

Together with LotSB, I might even call ME 2 game of the year, of course also due to the lack of competition. Somewhat off-topic, but the thread has obviously served its purpose.
I'll be happy to call it game of the year as soon as I can get a dlc with Kaidan/Ash
I have enjoyed thie Liara dlc a lot. It worked really well with my Friend Shepards and I started on my Fem Shep/Liara LI game last night. I need the complete LI romance option with good friend content DLC for the game to be my game of the year.
Thank you Jesse! I think the people like you are the reason most of us love BW games.
