I have the game sitting on a shelf (all xpacks too) and every time I walk by and see them, I am taken back to a time when NWN1 and the community was bustling with excitement and activity. So many custom modules and player ran adventures, so many great memories. Truly one of the greatest parts of my online gaming life was spent playing this game.

My nephew recently came over (he's 25 and lives a few hundred miles away so I don't see him often enough) and was telling me he had played pnp D&D and was looking at my game boxes and inquired about the life of the game so he could get his own copies. We had a nice long discussion about my early pnp days when I was around his age (D&D through to AD&D 2nd ed, I still have my dice and books!) and his experiences with it as well.

With all this flash backing I decided I might give NWN1 another go, since to me, was far superior to NWN2 as far as online play abd community created content goes.

So with that in mind I have a few questions.

1) Is the NWN1 online community still fairly active?
2) What's the best PW out there or is there a list of PW I can read about the active ones?
3) Do people still run GM's games, if so where can I find a list or website to sign up and participate if any?

That's it for now. I really miss this game and community but I know all things come to an end eventually.

Yes, the community is still kicking! I see announcements for new modules and PW (less frequently now then in the past just a little, but still) regularly rolling out.

My own PW, ArgentumRegio City of Dohral requires only the NWN1.69 xp1 & xp2 and the cep2.1 or better. We have many DMs and are adding more. It is a growing community here, adding about 50+ new players each month and retaining about half of those who visit as newbies. It is a VERY PNP style world, with features like SWIMMING, CLIMBING, JUMPING, FLYING, SWINGING (on ropes), added spells like Wall of Ice, Wish, Liveoak, Spiderclimb, Jump, and many more (60+ at present and still adding more spells). We've rounded out the things your PC can do here too, with features like tracking, scavenging, scrying, window use, and much more, you'll find your characters here function more like your PNP characters do than anywhere else. Of a special note is the Immersion Tool (IT) we have developed ... seeing is believing; so come on down!

66.232.100.90 cep2.1+

We promise only amazing.

This game definitely still has some activity, with new modules, persistent worlds, and custom content being made all the time.

You might want to check out the Persistent Worlds section of this forum. Lots listed there (including mine) with plenty of information to help you decide where to start your search.

Rather than submit yourself to endless debates and advertising I would suggest you look through the thread area called Persistent Worlds and read some of there.

As a suggestions though I can offer several depending on your desires. SInce Ehye already mentioned his here are some that I have liked.

Forgotten Realms Cormyr (Lots of players and a bit more Role Playing Light but still fun)
Tales of The Silver Marches (Almost too realistic and PnP Based but players were friendly)
City of Arabel ( I liked this place but some of the players were a bit stand-offish.)
World of Aenea (Visually Awesome but not Role Playing Light is a stretch)

Those are the five I have tried.

I don't know what you like, but others so far suggested you rather roleplay persistent worlds.

I will therefore suggest you some action based:

Higher Grounds - Rather uber server with max lvl 60 and unique spell/class changes
The Three Towns - Quest-loot action server, no haks required.
Neversummer 3.5
Lands of Larinia - if you omit that there isn't much players, its quite good.

Thanks for the replies.

Somehow I completely missed the PW section of this new board, I will definitely look into the ones suggested here and find my niche in the world(s).

When I try to log onto this world it fails to find the server. I posted on your forums about it under an existing thread.

I read the player guide and I really like it based on that. Can't wait to finally log in.

Welcome back!

1) Is the NWN1 online community still fairly active?
Definately. We have yet to find a game that offers such open customization in a toolset, server tools, and dmside login that NWN1 does.

2) What's the best PW out there or is there a list of PW I can read about the active ones?
This all depends on what kind of play you want to do. From Action to RP to Social.... different strokes for different folks. But WSI is the best for me of course, hehe.

3) Do people still run GM's games, if so where can I find a list or website to sign up and participate if any?

Yes. Check out NeverwinterConnections.com to meet up for scheduled games. Our DMs started hosting games like that and we've had a great time with it.

Neverwinter Connections is still active.  It is a match making site where people post games and those who are interested in playing in the ongoing campaigns register and take part.

I've run a continuous Greyhawk campaign on that site since Fall of 2004.

Give it a try... what's the worst that can happen? :)

1) Extremely active. There's still a lot of players online and a lot of servers. A lot of new prospective players are having trouble finding the CDs to buy. A lot of players did leave nwn and are exploring elsewhere but are ready to come back. There's still quite a lot of building and scripting going on, but many of the problems have been so far solved.
2) Check out the PW Action, Action and RPG sections of Gamespy. Look under server vault. You will find a large number of servers with many players.
3) neverwinter connections still runs them.

its of course not as busy as the first year of nwn but the magic is still there. players meeting online, encounters with new players in dark forests etc..

if u r after team pvp, there are very good team pvp servers under Arena, Action and Team PVP sections of gamespy,
