I'll pass. Sexual relations in Bioware's games are not mandatory for plot progression, mission progression, or money.

Sexual relations are there to enhance a romance with another character. I feel it shouldn't go beyond that.

Once Bioware starts tacking on rewards like money, or quests, etc etc on to a romance, it starts to look like they're encouraging you to do it, and that's the last thing they want.

Its there if YOU want it. Not because THEY want you to want it.

The occasional thing with an Isabella type character is fine, but even then, the choice was yours. You didn't have to do it that way if you didn't want to.

Making sex a tool for progressing the game translates to a bad idea.

There is nothing wrong with fading to black on a sex scene, so long as it is done right. The wrong way to do it would be to have to fully clothed characters engaged in dialogue, and when you choose the "let's go to bed' option, the screen fades to black only to return to both characters standing in the same position, fully clothed, and commenting on how amazing that was. There should be some lead up to the fade to black.

Personally I thouht that the sex scenes in ME1 were perfect. Nothing to explicit, but still, sexy and well done.

Agreed.

None of the nudity was gratuitous either, and the sex scenes were very cinematic. All the controversy was really a case of people making mountains out of molehills. Really the scenes weren't any different from what you'd see in many Hollywood films. In fact considering that some movies like Monster's Ball or Basic Instant had very explicit sex scenes, the scenes in Mass Effect were fairly tame in comparison.

In movies you get to see 30 second long clip of two naked people kissing eachother and making sweet love with only boobs and pubic hair showing.
I don't think I have ever played a single computer game that is showing nipples and pubic hair at all.

Yeah, I don't know what the whole stink about ME1's sex scenes were about.  They weren't that graphic or anything and we've seen worse on movies.  That was more about bible humpers over reacting and being vocal about it.

Also, when i was trying to learn the dueling specialisation off of Isabella, Allistair randomly tokk her away and "seduced" her, and then she taught me the specialisation.

I have a unmoded, normal version on PS3. I think the dialogue has to go a certain way though.

Because Morrigan was yanking Carroll's chain and he was scared out of his mind in my version. Morrigan kept pressing on and the poor lad was just like "Let's just cross the lake now, right now, now!"

And the thing with Isabela was a threesome, not Alistair seducing her and taking her away. It was the Warden who came up with the idea, with Alistair trying (yeah right) to resist at first.

These are the differences in the game I played.

I really hope your joking. Oblivion and Fallout 3 especially are examples of how NOT to deal with Sex in a game. really. I dont recall Oblivion having sex in it outside of mods?
And I thought Fallout 3's approach to it was childish and rather buggy (like the game itself overall).

I loved ME1's approach. Tasteful, and mature.

However what i think the guy means that in Fallout 2 (and 1 if I remember right) you could trade sex for money, favours, and to get you way past certain situations like with what you do with Isabela - you can catch her cheating, Zevran can catch her cheating, you can "be a good sport", and you can sleep with her to get the specialization.

More instances/situations like that I think is what the guy is hoping for. Where charm and sex is used as a weapon/tool.

Meh, who cares.  They only stir controversy for ratings.  It's within their rights to do so.  Don't overestimate their effectiveness.  People have more important things to worry about.

The sex has become a cliche. Both DAO and ME2 were a joke with nearly everyone being available. If the future looks like ME2 where your squad is devoid of any insightful conversation if no love interest is pursued get rid of it completely. I would rather hear the tales of HK-47 or Wrex than watch the same stupid love scenes with whatever 'skin' happens to be your love interest.

I don’t know bout you, but Friends and myself (the guys) the 75% or our motivation to do anything is having SEX or the idea or SEX. It’s natural. I had sex, with girls that I cared about, I had sex with girls that I found attractive and nothing more. I had sex with people that where ugly as hell just because it was a really long time since the last time I had sex.



Bio take the subject seriously, for example a long long time ago I was one of those that posted in the forums that there should be a hore hause in DA, because it’s the oldest profession in history! People in real life use sex as a means to an end, use it as a way to express their love for one another. And to have a good time!

I liked Dragon Age, and I wish the at least keep the level of Sexual jokes (Oghren talking to Alistar about Spear Polishing) add more Sex as a means to an end (example Morigan teasing the mages tower guard to cross us to the other side), Love as long term relation, aka marring some one and having children.



As far as cinematic about sex, a kiss and a fade black, with moding tools should be all I need to fill those black spaces in my own game so I don’t bother any one!



In the end, life is sex, so Roleplaying game where you play the role of a person, should have sex as a motivation, as way to and end and as the culmination of a relationship.
