Besides potential romances, what does Gender change in the game? Does it change the origins any (I have a hard time imagining that some of the stories would work as a woman, particularly the City Elf and Dwarf Noble ones).
Just curious as to whether it'd be worth another playthrough as a woman, just to experience the whole game.

It will effect the end as well, when you are a human noble. If you are a female, you can rule besides Alistari as king.

City Elf chage a bit when your a female since the noble always go for the girl, so instance to go for your fiancee he go for you... i can say all what is different only that in female it work very well since it's the one i done

What's wrong with the Dwarf Noble as a female PC?
What makes you think it wouldn't work? It's essentially no different from a male, except you can't have sex with the two noble hunters as a woman.
The city elf has you taken and fighting the Arl's son from the inside.
The rest of the origins are pretty much identical with either gender.

Some people comment about not seeing many female Grey Wardens, or sometimes women will sympathize with you a bit more in their speech. Nothing majorly game-affecting though, just fluff, as far as I know.

Huh, some of the dialogue options from the dwarf male origin ("There is no honor in beating a woman") led me to believe that a female commander would be a bit questionable. I thought maybe that line reflected on Dwarven culture, but maybe they just wanted to give you the option to make your PC sexist.

hmm i'd at least hope for more gender specific dialogue (persuade) options for both genders at least

The city elf origin is default female. Though the dwarven noble origin is heavily default male.

Mostly dialogue choices.

So I'm going to assume that even with differently worded dialogue choices, they all lead to the same responses as the male counterpart dialogue?
I guess that answers my question.

There are some differences. For a female mage, Cullen is in love with you; with a female noble dwarf, Gorim is in love with you.
Other than that kind of thing, it all leads to the same quests and plotline.

Good ol' Gorim.
It's odd. I never saw him in Orzammar with any of my other playthroughs. Does he appear if you're a Dwarf Noble background, or is he sort of like your brother as a Human Noble; gone off the face of the world until the ending.

He is the dwarven merchant in Denerim, iirc.

...that would make sense. Forgot that he mentioned going topside and all.
Shame, I figured he'd be a bigger player. Was hoping for some sort of quest for redemption with him.

I've not played up to Denerim with my female noble dwarf, so there might be a later quest involved or something special with him, I don't know. For all the other origins, he's just a merchant.

Yeah, I was just hoping he'd be a major figure like Shianni for the city elves. Well, even more reason to play my dwarf and find out.

Poor Cullen. I turned him down gently in the mage origin story, and he was so messed up when I returned to the Circle of Magi.
It's also super-uncomfortable because he says all this stuff about how he had the hots for you and the demons have been using it to mess with his head, and Alistair (who I was romancing) was standing RIGHT THERE. Yeesh.

I offered Cullen the chance to come back to my room, and he got all flustered, scared, and ran away down the hall. It was kind of hilarious. I can't wait to get back to the tower with my mage.
