For a relatively minor character he gets an epilogue slide. That's a bit odd now I think of it.
He certainly smells of unfulfilled potential to me.
Indeed. I hope we run into him in the later games, aswell.

He's mentioned in Witch Hunt you know.
I haven't played Witch Hunt. When and where is he mentioned?

I think its if you don't take the "free the mages boon" and DON'T annul the circle. Then I think its overheard as an ambient comment (this from those who heard it, I personally don't have WH so this is unconfirmed) Obviously you have to be a mage if the "free the mages boon" is not taken.

I hope you meet him in later games. He's just a too interesting character to have such a small role.
Wrote a couple of one shots after getting inspiration from Cme's project and testing it. Will post them later.

OH dear, I see what the templar's 'official' story is on it. If you free the mages at the end, but don't annul the circle, Cullen goes off his trolley and slaughters several apprentices before being hauled off to Aeonar. But they must have told the mages "he's in the countryside recouperating". Dang I thought it was something better than that

Wow, I just thought it meant that he was trying to recover and THEN snapped and went crazy. That's a much more disturbing idea, especially so soon after Origins ended.
That's what I thought as well!
But.. wouldn't those gossiping mages have mentioned something about his apprentice killing then?

And the only details I remember about the three apprentices was just that they were apprentices. I didn't know it was because of their Harrowing Cullen killed them. Could it have been? Maybe he was doing it to protect everyone, I don't know. That's unfair they left it so mysterious and open-ended. I'd like to know what in the heck happened that day. xD

I think DG thinks Cullen is destined to be creepy and insane, which is sad considering he's so lovely at the Tower when you flirt with him. I know it's meta-gaming but I never request the tower be freed as my boon, considering it's NOT freed according to Wynne no matter what you request.
In one of the DA2 threads DG (I think it was DG) says that the Chantry refuses to allow it. So even more reason not to bother imho.
I'll see if I can dig up the thread...
Found it! I think I need to spend less time reading the forums and more time doing...something else.

Does anyone know if there's any dialogue about Cullen in WH if playing a female mage who did NOT ask for the Mage boon?
I ran WH on a dead mage who'd US'd. The crown granted the boon during the funeral. I am not sure if that sets the flag or not.
I did not get the Cullen dialogue from the mages in the library. Just the other chatter.
If someone has run it with a live mage who didn't asked for the boon, I'm happy to be contradicted

I imagine the flag probably does not get set, considering how Bioware handles US Wardens in Awakening.

Just thinking about that upsets me because my first warden (my first canon good guy warden). Committed the US. Gah.

I may have had it without the boon and a live mage in Awakening, though it's been so long I'd need to recheck and look at my logs from Origins. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

In the description I was startled to see the mod creator says that in Cullen's chr file, he's labeled as age 24. That literally shocked me out of my mind, because I had assumed from the moment I saw him that he was at least in his 30s, if not 40s. What do you guys say about this? I can't actually look at the chr file, assuming you open it in the Toolset, since I'm currently having issues getting the Toolset running, but if Cullen is truly 24, then why do you suppose he looks so much older?
Also, to start up some more topic, what is your theory or fantasized idea about what happened to Cullen prior to joining the Circle order of templars? I have my own ideas that mold into my PC mage's story which I can share, but I'd like to hear other's ideas about what his past and future in Dragon Age was like.
EDIT: Haha nevermind about the age thing, found a topic regarding the CHR listed age things explained by David Gaider, quoted here by another user-->

I'll save you the guesswork. Here's their ages as listed in the toolset:
Alistair = 32
Morrigan = 30
Sten = 30
Shale = 500
Leliana = 26
Dog = 3
Oghren = 35
Zevran = 24
Wynne = 55
Loghain = 50
This is what David Gaider had to say about this in Spoilers forum.Don't say Alistair is 32...apparently it scares David....Ahhhh... that's info for the VO people. It's an apparent age and gives a range for the actor, not his actual age.
Good, because it would scare me were Cullen really 24. That seems an impossiblity to me, just out of personal effect and experience. xD

That and he obviously looks a lot older than mid-20s, so that just added more to my affirmation I believed he had to be at least in his 30s if not early 40s, which doesn't deter me in the least. I kind of like the idea of an older, weathered templar with a bit of a shy displacement around females. It's what sets him so much apart from Alistair in my mind, who is an example of an untrained templar who is just awkward because he's young and inexperienced.
