I like this idea, but $5,000? What? Is she going to have head tentacles surgically grafted to her skull?

I've mentioned this before but yes, the costume itself, when done properly will cost that, and then some.. I'll make sure the fans that have donated know the actual cost of everything..

As far as the donations to cancer research; my plan is to attend events that the proceeds will go to fund these organizations.

Lol sounds like one of the LOTSB investment opportunity missions.

As Samara is my favourite Asari in terms of appearance, I would love to see the actual actor get suited up. Bring it on!

I always shake my head when people question the cost of good cosplay. These are basically equivalent to couture garments. The craftsmanship and materials involved for all the various pieces of a top-rate Samara costume would easily cost $5K. This isn't a Halloween costume from Walgreen's.

Heh heh...

I remember back at the old forums, when Samara was first unveiled, people were going "Oh, she looks so African", "Definately a strong black woman, finally"... Image IPB

If the drive is still going when I've got a bit of spare money floating around, I'll gladly donate.

It's nice to see that it's going to be used to help charities, but I think it's also great that Ms McAnear has the passion for her character to do this, too.

I wish Rana had more HQ images of herself on the web. I'm dying to paint her portrait, but I can't use these tiny few images that are available. :I

She needs Maggie Baird to follow her around her around to speak for her. Did she just give a ME3 spoiler.

<3 Donated. I adore Samara and the proceeds going to cancer research are a wonderful cause. I'm quite happy to help support one half of what made a fantastic character.

Can't really get excited for face models, voice actors way more interesting.

Well, thanks for your contribution to the discussion. By the way, there's this thing called 'tact' you might find interesting to explore. Some of us are very pleased to have Rana discussing her experience as a face model with us. Some of us look forward to her cosplay. If you don't share our enthusiasm, there's this new concept called 'not posting' that is a very effective way of communicating that, and it requires NO effort on your part. Win/win.

^ Win and agree. I personally am thrilled to see how it turns out as I am a huge fan of samara. She is my favorite character of all of them.

That's time and material, really. For example, a really good N7 armor suit would cost you around $3000 and that's just a costume (i.e. you haven't done any make-up/prosthetics). See  http://bioweapons.wordpress.com/

this is a long-ass podcast.

it's still going. but it's a credit to the interviewers and interviewee that it's still entertaining. i now view samara in rather a different light.

I was deeply moved when you spoke so openly about your experiences with cancer, as I've had many loved ones taken by it....:crying:...and most others have had as well I'm sure.

In case you're still around, and regarding the cosplay: will you be cutting off your long hair to fit an asari head-tentacle thing headpiece? If so, I have a further suggestion. I'm guessing you might well be aware of this but there are programs to make hairpieces for people with illnesses which have caused them to lose their hair; all you need to do is put your hair in a ponytail and then snip it off and donate it, they will do the rest. Locks of Love is one such program I am aware of, but there are surely many others.
