I bought the game originally for the PC which in my opinion is the best choice but only because of the active community doing biowares job on patching and fixing their game...(graphics and user interface also)
I am disappointed that Bioware does so little in trying to fix the game or at least respond on the issue more. This game could have been truly epic but Bioware seems to have lost allot of their dedication in fixing their rushed game and now leave to most likely rush DAO2 so it can become worse than this game has become in value...
If Bioware would fix the game I would play it again on the PC and most likely buy the PS3 Ultimate Edition but instead I will not buy any DAO content or order DAO2 at release for I have lost much faith in Bioware. I hope if a Dev reads my post that they take heart that I am just a concern fan that feels this issue in game breaking bugs and money milking is only going to hurt the company reputation and trust.
Please Bioware prove me wrong and fix the issues.

I think the reason some people are having problems is that it is impossible to take into account every single configuration of hardware and software someone may have on their system, and there is an almost unlimited amount of variables, so in my opinion if a game works well on the majority of systems then the developers have done their job... I think it's pretty unreasonable to expect a particular program to work for every single computer user that installs it considering the number of different configurations that are possible these days...
I have games that sit on a shelf and never get installed or played because I bought them and tried to install them and they just would not work on my machine... oh well, I tried and it didn't work, so try something else and see if it works.... lol
I've always had really good luck with the bioware software so I don't worry about things like that when I purchase new games or whatever, and the fact that they provide a toolset for the tinkerers is an incredible bonus to people like me because almost no one else does that.... I can honestly say that if they had not made a toolset available I prolly would not have purchased the game because I enjoy tinkering as much if not more than playing the game... lol
There are only a few little glitches on my installation of DA:O, but they are extremely minor and nothing to get my panties in a bunch over... mostly it's just a couple of failed conversation triggers but I also have never installed any patches so don't know if that would fix 'em... maybe it would, but as I said I'm not worried about it at all...
I know some of you have experienced problems and I really feel for you, but this software is better than most in my experience and at least on my machine never crashes or freezes on me even after 6-8 hours of gameplay....
just my thoughts and only one person's opinion though...

anything about these issues:
Find Vitals, Silverite Mines equipment bug, unimplemented
effects, attack speed bugs...
These can't be fixed or even acknowledged, yet Witch Hunt
can receive an update within a week of release? These issues
haven't been addressed by Bioware in any way and they
continue to remain silent.
I know for a fact that the Silverite Mines bug HAS been acknowledged; it's one of those thing they cannot fix because of
simultaneous release requirements, to use your own words. Some of the other things you mentioned probably do work, just not in a way that most players want them to, which may be why Bioware has said nothing.
This is from the July 9 update for the 1.04 patch when it was in progress:
Victor Wachter wrote...
(Awakening) Silverite Mine Issues
Some
players have experienced a situation where it is possible to enter the
Silverite Mine in the Wending Wood early by picking the lock to the door
(despite the lock initially appearing to be impossible to pick) prior
to completing the quest with Velanna. Due to technical limitations, we
will be unable to patch this issue and as such we wish to communicate to
players to avoid this situation.
Entering the Silverite Mine
early may result in loss of some inventory as well as broken plot flags
due to prior quests not being completed properly. Normally, the door
will unlock after fully resolving the encounter with Velanna and the
player should not attempt to enter the Silverite Mine before then.
As noted here by Victor, the Silverite Mines issues that "can't be fixed" are not the same as those that have been reported. The most egregious bug regarding the Silverite Mines is when someone in your party has a class or character-specific item equipped. This will cause ALL of their equipment to be lost. The number of autosaves that are scripted in the Silverite Mines guarantees that no saves will be available once this bug has had its effect. This is a very different issue than the ones that Victor is talking about.
Also, Find Vitals adds 5% spirit damage. This is because it references the same effect as the Spirit Warrior talent Fade Burst. One has to assume this is an error, yet it remains unaddressed/unacknowledged despite questions about it during the 1.04 patch progress reports. Haste effects from spells/salves make certain attack speeds slower, not faster - this is a contradiction of the descriptions of these spells/items. I'm not sure how you can pass these things off as "working, just not as some players expect."

Will this be on steam?
and is there only a limited amount of copies to buy?
I ask because I don't have the money right now and probably won't be able to buy it for a few weeks after its out.

360 all the way. No problems or headaches of any sort....just put the disc in and instantly start ploaying with no issues. Install it to the HDD if you like or not however you prefer and just enjoy the flawless and awesome gamplay experience....provided they patched the sentinel armor, vigilance sword and the dwarf noble origin losing all the bonus items in the origin story but that seems like a must for the Ultimate edition.
Seems like a must, but doubt it actually is. Seeing as how they weren't fixed in 1.04 and there is no hint at this stage of a new patch, *if* they are fixed I doubt it'll be any time soon.

This is very true and I can tell you that my PS3 version of the game crashes way more than the PC version.... I have to save and shut the PS3 off and then restart after about 3 or 4 hours of gameplay otherwise I am almost certain to get a crash...
but here's the kicker - almost every game I have on PS3 does the same thing so I seriously do not think it has anything to do with the game itself... it's the PS3 itself that is the culprit....
When I first got the PS3 it very rarely ever crashed, but after getting some new games that required a system software upgrade it now crashes regularly.... this is not a problem with the games, it is a problem with Sony's system software and PS3 console in general....
Actually that's not 100% true though because there are several versions of the PS3... I have the 120 gig version and they are yes basically the same but the 40 gig version, correct me if I'm wrong, quite different in some ways as it was the first of the PS3 consoles and will do things the other versions can't....
Anyways, no game is perfect.. I had a FPS a few years ago that was one of the best I've ever played, but it would crash often.. sometimes after only a few minutes or other times after 1-2 hours... but the crashes were inevitable and I didn't let that stop me from playing it... this was on PC mind you, but I am not happy at all with the PS3 when I compare it to earlier versions of playstation... I've been following video games since intellivision and have had them all... all the earlier versions of playstation never crashed... I think I had less than 3 crashes with those game systems and that was playing them for years... This PS3 I bought has already crashed many more times than that and I've only had it for a few months.... Now THAT is irritating when you consider how much they cost when compared to the earlier ones... The games are so much better though.. so it's 6 of one half dozen of the other...

I'm sorry for being a noob when it comes to DLC (I do not have XB Live, nor do I plan to pay for this crap, nor do I have any interest whatsoever for multiplayer), but what rules was he referring to?
More precisely, and straight to the point, will I be able to play all the content of the console version without having to validate anything online? Because really, what is the freaking point to have all the DLCs released on DVD, only to tell people to go activate the whole thing online?
People who are going to buy your Ultimate Edition are precisely the people who could NOT download the DLCs. So please, Bioware, clarify: do you need your console to be connected to Internet to be able to unlock/validate/whatever the content present on the Ultimate Edition DVDs?
Thank you VERY much for clarifying this. I know a few people have asked already, but no clear answer has been given as per the activation aspect of the whole thing.

nope, the thing worked just fine before that darned upgrade... grrrr

Could you please answer my question here?
Will there be any fixes to the beard in the character creator?
Also, im still not sure how the transfering of saves would work. Or if it would.
I just want to clarify when I talk about the Fish Face.
Look at my profile pic on the right side, follow the line of his face. See his hallowed out cheek?
It is actually much worse in game at certian angels, like over the shoulder shots during conversations.
Will this be fixed in the character creator in DA ultimate edition?
Do you know if the character creater has been changed to allow you to change the face even if a human male has a beard? Or at least a chinstrap?
Seems like something of a bug to me.

I don't think you guys realize how many sales you get from existing customers who buy these collections to have physical DRM free copies of everything.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this. If I wanted, I could load up an old game on my original Xbox. However, in the future, after Microsoft abandons the current content on Xbox Live (like they've already done with Halo 2's dlc maps, Battlefront 1 and 2 dlc content, etc.) and something bad happens, I couldn't play my extra Mass Effect 2 content.
Like you, that is why I bought the Fallout 3 and Oblivion GOTY Editions, the copy coming with the DLC on a second disc as well as the latest patch. I will with Borderlands (do you know if it comes with DLC on a disc or redeemed through a code?). Because I might not if it doesn't come with the DLC on a second disc. That is why I am glad Dragon Age is doing this, even if their handling of DLC has not always been the best.

Borderlands GOTY has codes for the DLC, nothing new on a disc... it's the same disc as the original release with just a new slip of paper. They lost a sale from me on that, what is the point? I get that it is a good deal for new customers, but like I said I think they miss the fact that a lot of "GOTY Edition" customers are repeat customers who want a final edition.
I'm a PC gamer but like you say this also effects consoles, perhaps even moreso, because once Microsoft move on from the 360 and close down that end of the service like they did for the original Xbox you won't be able to get your DLC again. On the PC at least one could find them somewhere and use them somehow since it is an open platform, even if Bioware go under someday.
It's yet another example of how none of these companies think ahead for the consumer, they all assume no one will care about their game 5 years later. I wish that, like movies and music, game developers and publishers put more pride and work into their classic releases so they can stand the test of time.

I think the Sentinel armor and vigilance sword will appear fine in the ultimate edition but not because they fixed anything. You see the problem is that if you have the Warden's Keep and Awakening installed at the same time or running awakening from a disc while Warden's Keep is installed the files conflict with each other causing the Sentinel Armor and Vigilance sword to appear like the Warden's Keep items. Now given that the Ultimate Edition runs from the disc(for 360 users at least) and that the Ultimate Edition comes on two discs chances are that the main game and its relevant DLC(Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar and Stone Prisoner) will likely be on one disc while Awakening and the rest is likely to be on the second disc so if they did it this way the Warden's Keep and Awakening files will never be present at the same time to create a conflict and all should be fine.
That obviously mostly pertains to the beyond awesome 360 version. PS3 users get it all on one disc so unless BioWare fixed it they are still very much screwed and the PC users are forced to install in order to even run the bloody game so they will have to either look for a mod or be screwed as well. With the 360 it will simply be interesting to see if this issue will stil be present when both discs are installed to the hard drive but I think they will be because the way the 360 functions is a lot different(and more awesome) than the PC as your 360 only runs the installed content for the disc that is in the tray so even if you install the Ultimate Edition to the 360 the items in question should still be fine and without further problems.
With that said the 360 version is just one tiny issue away from absolute flawless perfection....the dwarf noble origin losing all the bonus items fro preorders and DLC and all the rest in the origin story but still most players won't be affected as most play the other 5 origins. Also a patch for the WItch Hunt Issue was submitted to Microsoft for certiffication over a week ago so that will hopefully be included in the Ultimate Edition on the disc and if not we should have the patch out before it releases anyway so all will be fine for the glorious 360 gamers.
