I'm not sure if this has been answered already or not, so I figure it can't hurt to ask:

I already own Origins for the PC, and a couple DLCs (Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, and Return to Ostagar). Will I need to unistall these in order to load up the Ultimate Edition, or can I just install whatever I don't have (Awakenings, the other DLCs) on top of what's already on my hard drive?

For the PC version, they said that you have a bunch of codes for all the DLC. So I don't think that's much of a problem for you. However, since the PS3 version is different in that all the DLC is on the disc (way to use the Blu-Ray disc's massive storage space) I'm wondering how it will work for me. Will all the DLC get installed automatically when I insert the disc, or can I pick and choose which DLC's to install from the DLC menu ingame at my leisure?

All the DLC is on-disc for the PC version as well.  The "codes" are to validate the installation with the BioWare servers so they don't show-up as "unauthorized" in your "Installed Content" list.

All the "bonus" gear associated with the DLCs is also on-disc.  (I haven't gone back through this thread to see if Victor got back to us about any "additonal bonus" items, like the "Lucky Ring" for using the pre-game Character Creator, or the extra stuff included on the CE.)

Installation (again, on the PC) will be individual.  You can pick and choose which DLC you install/use.

[Edited thanks to BioWare-supplied addtional info]

The UE is designed to install everything, including the 1.04 patch.  The Player can disable individual DLC on the "Installed Content" screen for compatibility.

This is VERY  important for some of us on the PC because some mods "don't work and play well with others",

Just checking up if I understand this correctly since I own the Collectors Edition (CE) for PS3 at the moment:

- The Ultimate Edition (UE) ships on 1 BluRay where all the content is included (all DLCs and the Expansion)
- This means there won't be any codes to download the expansion and the extra content
- The extra items I already have installed from the CE and promotional activities will still be on the PS3 with the UE.

Yes to all 3.

Thanks for the clarification - I hope you'll have a nice weekend.

Ok I was under the impression that they gave you download codes for PC version, from how I read it.

So if installation is individual on PC and you can pick and choose which DLC to use, then it should be the same for PS3. But I would like a confirmation from Bioware, if at all possible.

You see I don't really want to do anything with the DLC until I platinum the base campaign, which I have 6 trophies left on that now. Really close. (Having a bit of an issue with Perfectionist though).

Thank you.

Well, the "Perfectionist" trophy isn't that hard, (from a game-playing perspective.)  But as you may already know, getting it does depend on making a certain irrevocable choice well  in advance of the Last Battle. (Do you want hints or spoilers?  PM me if so.)

So for America this game is being release on the 26th while for England, it will be for the 29th. Can someone confirm when they get the Xbox 360 version, if saves from the original disc still work. Thanks. Oh, and possibly, can they also confirm if the DLC items import into Awakening.

Yes to first request for confirmation; devs have already said saves will work.
No to second, THERE IS NO CHANGE TO THE GAME ELEMENTS in the UE.  This is simply a "one-package collection" of the existing DA  materials.  NOTHING NEW HERE.  Everything in UE is the same as what's already released and available to you now, including the bugs!

Can't say ONE  disc.  PS3 will be on one (Blu-ray, ya' know).  XBox and PC, prob'ly multiple discs.

I'm also curious as to how the 360 version is shipped. I see shipping Origins on one disc and all the additional content, including the 2GB DLC format Awakening, on a second "install" disc as the most logical thing to do, but dev confirmation on this would be nice.

Use the "Display Only BioWare Posts" filter on this Topic and you can find your confirmation

I quote Fernando from two weeks ago below:

Fernando Melo wrote...

Ultimate Edition is only a box packaging of everything we've released to date - there is no additional 'new' content or fixes done exclusively for it.  Thus any future patches will apply to all versions of Origins, incl UE.

The only online 'requirement' is on PC only, to register the DLC code here on social and then you need to login once in the game so the game knows your account has these registered.  After that you can play offline if you wish.  This is necessary so the DLCs get added correctly to your account, and ensure in the future should you ever need to re-install the DLCs you can grab them from your entitlements page here, as with any other DLC so far on PC.

For consoles, there is NO online requirement.  You play from the discs.  We are including a code to give you Blood Dragon Armor on ME2, like we did whe Origins first came out - which you redeem here on social if you want - but it has no impact on your DA game.

Is that clear enough?

Again, already answered about 3 days ago by a BioWare Dev.

Can you explain how the discs work on 360 version? I know you install it on PC and such and play it from the main game in PS3 but 360 is different. Please don't let us install to hard drive because I don't have a hard drive.

In all 3 platforms, everything is installed to the hard drive (except for DAO on X360 - which you could play direct from the disc - but Awakening & the DLCs are all installed)...

So it sounds like those XBox players with limited HDD space, (or no HDD at all) will have an issue.

I wasn't either, until someone pointed it out.

You have to go "from the top down".

All DLC you currently have will work for the UE. It's exactly the same game as Bioware has already said, it's just a collection of everything. Your saves from the original work as well.

"Transfer" from where?  "Transfer" TO  where?
It's not a "new" game.  There is no "new material"  (Except, it seems, a bonus item or two.) Posted Image

It's just everything that has been released so far: collected into one physical media package (disc, or set of discs.)

The individual components are still "individual components".   Your installed game is identical to what's in the UE.  If there is a module (DLC or the EP) that you have not yet purchased, this will have it.  Otherwise, you already  have everything!

Sorry to ask, but I have a question about This Ultimate edition. I live south the continent, in Argentina and the only possibility to buy the Ultimate Edition is to purchase it digital. My question is: Which format does the disc have after I downloaded it? Is it an ISO file, so I can burn it on a DVD? or is it a folder? I have never bought any Digital games before, and I was wondering about this. I hope somebody can enlighten me about this. Thank you!
