You don't burn it onto a DVD or anything like that at all. O.o

Digital games you run entirely off the harddrive. My guess is they send you a folder with the setup EXE and all the files you'll need. Just run the setup and install. No disc required at all.

EDIT: Someone else can explain alot better than I can. I hate PC gaming personally. I'm console only. PS3 specifically (NEVER Crap Box).

I am Spanish and I do not find in any store Spanish where it can make my
reservation for the Ultimate Edition does this mean that Spain will not
this version? If so, can we rely on imports? I say this because DA does not bring Origins uk version Spanish between their languages.

Please answer this, as I'm concerned.

Best bet is to continue to check with local retailers - alternatively, you may consider purchasing from a webstore elsewhere and shipping the box (some retailers may offer free shipping).

The PC & X360 version has English VO, and English, Spanish & Italian subtitles.
There is also a X360 German VO / Txt version (like Origins did).
PS3 has English, French and German VO, and English, French, German, Spanish and Italian subtitles.

I already own Origins for the PC, and a couple DLCs (Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, and Return to Ostagar). Will I need to unistall these in order to load up the Ultimate Edition, or can I just install whatever I don't have (Awakenings, the other DLCs) on top of what's already on my hard drive?
You don't need to uninstall.  Either install UE over top or in a new install location.  But on PC it install everything - more details below.

For the PC version, they said that you have a bunch of codes for all the DLC. So I don't think that's much of a problem for you. However, since the PS3 version is different in that all the DLC is on the disc (way to use the Blu-Ray disc's massive storage space) I'm wondering how it will work for me. Will all the DLC get installed automatically when I insert the disc, or can I pick and choose which DLC's to install from the DLC menu ingame at my leisure?
All the DLC is on-disc for the PC version as well.  The "codes" are to validate the installation with the BioWare servers so they don't show-up as "unauthorized" in your "Installed Content" list.

Correct.
Thandal NLyman wrote...
Shadelon wrote...

All the "bonus" gear associated with the DLCs is also on-disc.  (I haven't gone back through this thread to see if Victor got back to us about any "additonal bonus" items, like the "Lucky Ring" for using the pre-game Character Creator, or the extra stuff included on the CE.)

Things awarded outside the normal Origins game (e.g. stand-alone character creator item, CE items, etc) are not included - but if you have these on your account they'll work as expected on UE.
Thandal NLyman wrote...

Installation (again, on the PC) will be individual.  You can pick and choose which DLC you install/use.
This is VERY  important for some of us on the PC because some mods "don't work and play well with others", (especially, it seems, Leliana's Song.)

Not quite.  For PC we are actually forcing the install of everything in one shot - you do not get to select what content you install.  We went back and forth on this a lot, but given how Awakening install & patching needs to work, and that UE is primarily aimed at new DAO players we decided this was preferable (if not the most elegant solution) as we can guarantee the most problem free experience for a new player this way.

For something like user mod collisions, it may be better to either install UE as a separate install in that case, or you can enable/disable bioware dlc & user mods in the downloadable content screen as needed - which should prevent most of those collisions.
Shadelon wrote...
Ok I was under the impression that they gave you download codes for PC version, from how I read it.

So if installation is individual on PC and you can pick and choose which DLC to use, then it should be the same for PS3. But I would like a confirmation from Bioware, if at all possible.

You see I don't really want to do anything with the DLC until I platinum the base campaign, which I have 6 trophies left on that now. Really close. (Having a bit of an issue with Perfectionist though).

Thank you.
For PC you redeem 1 code to attach all the dlcs to your account - but they are all installed from disc.

For X360 you pop in disc 2 and select which dlc (incl awakening) you'd like to install, then use disc 1 to play.

I believe PS3 is same (but all on same disc) - but i'll confirm once in the office tomorrow.
Sir Martyn Saint wrote...

Sorry to ask, but I have a question about This Ultimate edition. I live south the continent, in Argentina and the only possibility to buy the Ultimate Edition is to purchase it digital. My question is: Which format does the disc have after I downloaded it? Is it an ISO file, so I can burn it on a DVD? or is it a folder? I have never bought any Digital games before, and I was wondering about this. I hope somebody can enlighten me about this. Thank you!
It will depend on which company you buy this from.  But most will download the protected content to your hard drive and either automatically run the installer for you, or provide you instructions to do so - making it available for play after registering the cd key or other security measure with them.  Some will also allow you to make backups locally.

If you are looking for suggestions to digital game services, consider posting in the off-topic or pc tech support forums.

So on PS3 I will get to pick and choose which DLC to install at my leisure? Sounds good to me. Not that it really matters anymore, as I finally got the platinum yesterday. WOOT. But still good to know I won't have to sit through hours and hours of installation. >.< Thanks for the reply.

So the Ultimate Edition is realeased in America today, right? Any idea why it's not up on the American Steam site?

Also, it's released in Australia on the 11th of November!? Why does Australia have to wait over two weeks longer than America? It was previously mentioned that the rest of the world would get it later this week.

EDIT: Actually, it's now available on the Australian Steam store!

It's 2 am in Steam's time zone. Valve usually updates around 11-12 PST.

Although, I was kinda hoping for a midnight release, or at least a preload. It's going to take eons to download.

Thanks for that info. But I also can't see the Ultimate Edition on the US EA store. MarcusMuffin has bought it from there already, so I don't understand why it's not there. I tried looking on multiple computers.

I hope it's not like this on Steam for Dragon Age 2. I hope we can pre-order so we can get the Signature Edition.

Thanks again for your help, but when I click your link I just end up at the same page I was searching myself earlier, and there's still no mention of the Ultimate Edition on it for me . The only mention of Dragon Age on the entire page that I see is an ad for the Digital Deluxe Edition and Awakening. Doing a search for the Ultimate Edition from that site doesn't bring up anything to do with the Ultimate Edition either. I tried using a few different locations by using the link at the bottom of the screen to see if it would come up for different countries, but it didn't. Very confusing.

Awwwwww, and I was doing so well in anticipating how this would all work!  Posted Image

So the "Ultimate Modder" who wants to use "Advanced Tactics", which requires the 1.03, not the 1.04 version of the scripts.ldf file, can't use the "Ultimate Edition"?  (Well, at least not without extracting the previous patch's .ldf from the.erf, and puttng it in the program's override folder?)

Oh well...  I can see why you went with the "all at once" approach.  Makes it much  easier for the first-time player. Posted Image

I'm wondering if this was just a timing issue - can you let me know if this is now working?  And was this a box version or download?

For those wondering about console install sizes for everything:
X360 - ~4 Gb
PS3 - ~6.3 Gb

These are approximate and your mileage may vary depending on languages etc.

For both consoles you are able to select individual content to install.

Here is the 411 on the PS3 version which I picked up today. ( I had pre-ordered it from gamestop). All DLC is on the disk. However each dlc needs to be installed to your hard drive. When you place the disc in it go to the start screen for the game. Quit the game and you will see the little disc icon for Dragon age Ultimate and below it a disc icon for "Down loadable Content". Click on Downloadable content and you will see all the dlc( it comes with everything that was released as dlc + the dragon armor. You click on and install each one separately. So if you don't want Darkspawn Chronicles then don't click on it and it will not install. The glitch for vigilance armor and sword is still present, but a work a round would be to not install Wardens Keep. Oh and you need to have the latest software update (3.42) for the PS3 for the game to work. For those who have not updated the software for a while you will need to do so.

Store versions typically (but not always) take roughly a day to appear (pre-ordered versions are different, and can be picked up that afternoon) on shelves. This varies from store to store (even 24-hr stores) but is generally the truth.

Cause I've been looking everywhere and the retailers here doesn't even know if there's going to be one.
