I bought the pc edition today, simply so i could have all the DLC on disc, and when i opened the pack, i get Origins on disc 1 and Awkening and disc 2 and a small leaflet telling me i can redeem the downloads from online??? Like you got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!! Im not happy at all. I hate the downloads, they never work for me, i just got unauthorised... I thought the DLC was on the discs and didnt require any online interaction. What would happen if i was new to DA and had no internet connection... They havent considered that.

I already own all the DLC's and awakening, and as said above only bought this edition to have the DLCs on disc.... huh i was wrong. So basically I have just bought DA:O, DA:OA, and a bunch of buggy downloads, just like i had in the first place...............Sort it out bioware.

Oh and i only have until June to redeem the code, so what happens EA if i want to put the game away and save it for a while, i dont have the peace of mind knowing that all the content is safly on disc. Why not just put a unlock key on the disc?.... this is just  lame attempt at making people join the site EA can get your email address... You are loosing a customer in me.

On a final note, i know this isnt Biowares fault, its mainly EA!

Thank you thank you thank you. I was going to buy the PC  UE for the same reason, and now I'm glad I didn't.

You're welcome :-).  Some say the DLC is on the disc,( i cant find DLC on the PC discs anywhere! But the games manual states its on the disc also) ....

.....BUT either way, whether the DLC is on disc or not,  you still need to go online to unlock it and even then most people cant play on it (the dreaded Unauthorised Content issue), as you can probably tell from this thread.

EA, Why couldnt we just have all the content on disc, and it all work in sync as ONE big game... Like the Game Of Year Editions of Fallout 3 and Oblivion etc..

All the DLC IS  on the disc(s).

The only thing that's "on-line" is the submission of the authorization code printed on the voucher in the box.

How many times can the BioWare staff post that same information IN THIS THREAD?  If you filter the topic to display only BioWare posts, I think it's there FOUR TIMES.

It's on the disc! Posted Image

Hi Thandal NLyman,
I have seen you mention before - what do you mean by "DLC which can not be named"? Are you referring to Darkspawn Chronicles lol.

I can understand the authorization for when you downloaded them online and such... but for a Ultimate release, where all the content is on the disc, having authorization requirement online just sounds like the company trying to keep control of what we buy. To what end? It makes it seem like we don't completely own what we paid for. They could have a reg key for everything off-line like most other games do.

Those were my thoughts also. As I said in my other posts, either way - DLC on the discs or not, its not quite the same when you have to interact online to authorise them, and still, even though the DLC is supposed to be on disc I and many more get "unathorised content" when trying to play Posted Image

Inatalling DA:O UE

Ok, I have just reinstalled to much better results. For those who are interested, a full run down of what you can expect.

The game contents:
- 2 Discs
- 1 UE DLC redeemable voucher
- 1 User manual
- 1 DA: 2 flyer

-Insert disc 1
-Follow instructions and enter your CD serial key
-Click install
-An information box will appear before the game installs informing you that you need to enter your  code from your voucher to authenticate your DLC.
-Click ok on the above info box and you are directed automatically to the Redeem page (www.dragonage.bioware.com/redeem) meanwhile the installation is in progress (I found it best to leave the Redeem page open for now, wait until the installation of the game is fully complete, though this may not be essential)
-You will be prompted to insert Disc 2 after a while of insatllation
-Insert disc 2 and click "Retry"
-Installation will now resume and disc 2 will ad Awakening and all the DLC to your game.
-When your installation is complete, Redeem your code from the page you have open at bioware. (http://social.bioware.com/redeem)
-At this point you need to remain connected to the internet
-Launch the game, and once at the main menu, login to your bioware/EA account.
-Allow the game to login to your account and after a few seconds your downloadable content should now be active.
-Select "Downloadable Content" from the games main menu and click the "Installed content" tab here to check that all of you DLC is enabled and that none of it has "(Unathorised)" underneath it.
-Once all your content is active, you may now disconnect from the internet and you dont need to be connected again while playing the game, and you have full access to the DLC.

So as you can see, an internet connection is essential (For unlocking DLC), but once your DLC is activated, you are pretty much set to go with hours of fun ahead, and hopefully no problems. Though again, I am still not 100% happy about having to authenticate the DLC online.... As not everyone will have the internet, and i feel for those people

I would strongly reccomend you do a full clean install removing all previous installations of the game prior.

Hello World!

I'm an italian player and i need an important info.

Has Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition UK got italian sub?

I have to do this question becouse Dragon Age Origins Normal Edition UK Hasn't got italian sub. Only Dragon Age Origins Normal Edition NTSC version has got italian sub.

A lot of italian players have my same problem and I would tell them the true.

At this moment we can't buy Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition in Italy: our stores don't know anything about this version. And we all are fear that UK Ultimate Edition hasn't italian sub becouse UK Normal Edition hasn't got italian sub.

Please, help us!

Hello! Thanks!

See the post above for info on how to get the UE to install/authorize all the content.

[NOTE:  You can keep all your Characters and Saved Games duing a full un-/re-install.  I did it half-a-dozen times while troubleshooting my CtD issues with the 1.03 patch!]

But to the editorial point about "control"...

If the full set were install/playable WITHOUT external authorization, then one could simply pass the disc(s) around.  The on-line connection is only needed once, and there's no big download of files, just an "okey-dokey" by the server for the content you've already got.

Not much different than for many, many publishers' digital material these days.  I'm still trying to figure out what the big deal is?  If one had to be connected to play, or even to acquire the content in the first place (as we all did before the UE) THEN  I would understand.  Be neither of those is true... Yes.  I understand the AR/AU approach in FANFIC, it can even be a lot of fun.  But don't like it at all in the "real" environment.

It would totally break any emotional connection to my Warden.  To be in the "current" story, but only in a "What if you had died in the Joining?" kind of way?  Really, really sick.  So there IS  no PC?  And there isn't even a "Clarence"  to explain that is doesn't have to be that way?!? (Sorry, movie reference.)

No.  It'll be years and years (if ever) until I would want to experience anything like that.
For me, doing so now would only contaminate my entire Dragon Age  psyche. Posted Image

So if my ps3 is not connected to the net the ultimate edition is a waste of space? Seriously Id rather just game companies put the whole lot on a ultimate edition to start with without having anything to do with been online and just charge £60+ for it in the first place.  I hate all this DLC nonsense, its the biggest load of rubbish conceived.  Companies dont need to try and trick gamers into spending more money on a game.  We know how much money were spending.  If we like a game enough we'll spend more money for more content in the first instance. I would of quite happly spent more than the original cost just to get the extra content and expansion on disks.

No, it's fine - apart from the UK edition which doesn't have a working version of Return to Ostagar on the disc.

Nor the Feastday Combo Pack, but that is free...so you can download that, otherwise contact EA support, they give you a code, you enter that code on the downloads page with triangle, this then indicates Return to Ostagar purchased, you click that and it takes to a free download of the pack off the PS store...

This aint ideal, the PS3 version is missing 2 DLC packs, 1 is free , 1 is £3.99 or contact EA for a code to get freebie download...what I wanna know is, what have downloaded instead of those packs listed? Plus the packs are now downloaded with EA codes, its still listed on the disc as 291MB.....well looks like you cant trade these games in when done LOL

My ps3 is not connected to the net hence why I am purchasing the Ultimate edition.  If I was connected to the net with my ps3 then I would of just downloaded the DLC in the first place.  Does EA think nothing through? How exactly is telling someone to go on the ps store solving the problem? No offence meant to Skidpro EA just really annoy the hell out of me.

Don't know if I misread but are you saying ultimatly if my ps3 is not connected to the net then my copy is screwed? or will just entering a code offline work?

I do not want to seem "nasty" - I'm just disappointed - but... 2nd November, and still nothing for an Ultimate version, here, in Belgium... So thank you for this vaporware =/

By the way, nice publicity stunt : Here (translation).

Too bad Bioware loses more and more credibility.

So let me get this straight, because I'm still wanting to get this. On PC, in USA.
1. Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age Origins Awakening each have their own disc, in which you do not need to be connected to the internet for any reason, with 1.4 Patch included.
2. DLC on disc. Is there a third disc for DLC or is it added into the awakening disc? Either way, all 9 DLC is on disc, but DOES need the internet in order to play them. Is that correct?

Why then are so many people having trouble with this?

As covered above - 2 discs, all content.  You need to redeem a code and after install you need to connect once so the game recognizes the content is attached to your account.

The purpose is to add these to your account so it all works the same regardless of version - should you ever need to re-install on another machine or lose/scratch your disc you can come here and download all the DLCs.

There is only RTO missing.  The PS3 comes with the feastday items on disc, and these are installed.

The issue with Feastday is in how the Sony Store recognizes these - there are actually 3 packages, the Gifts, the Pranks, and the combo pack with both items.  Although both items are installed, the Store (and subsequently  the in-game store) doesn't recognize all 3 are installed.  This is same behavior with any other bundle package on PSN.  End result however, is the items are on the disc and show up in game with no other d/l required.

For RTO this is clearly a problem for euro PS3 players - but the solution is no different than a bug which would require a patch to resolve.  It requires the player to go online and download it.  Not ideal, nor what we'd like, but is the quickest way to get you all of your content.

I actually feel much better about the UE now than I did yesterday. I did feel quite dissapointed, as night0205 put it, you dont feel like you own the content when its downloadable. But its good to know that you need only log onto the net twice to get yourself up and running (see my post above on installing if you are unsure of why and how the internet connection is needed).

Ps: Thandal, i havent played DC yet, i bough the DLC sometime ago, but it would never work for me (unauthorised error and all that), but now I have the UE working properly I look forward to playing as a Darkspawn LOL, it sounds interesting, but i like your nickname for it all the same :).

Thanks for clearing it up about Feastday Combo pack as in game its not recognised, when downloaded from the store it is purchsed!

As for RTO, I got it now, but EA gave me codes to redeem form this site! I couldnt figure out why it wouldnt work, you have to use the code in game, and also I cannot register the game on here by UPC number either, its invalid! LOL:)

I'll talk to them again, they shouldn't be giving you codes but rather just add it to your account - no reason to ask you to do more steps.

As for UPC, give it another try - we received another batch of these from publishing and they've been added to the site now.

I already have most of the items for Xbox, but would love to get this version for PC.

Just, I'm kinda lazy so won't get it until it's released on Steam in the EU.

Hopefully that'll happen soon, but it was such a let down to find DA promoted on the Steam frontpage and then it was just the normal game at no discount :\\

.. Good deal with the bundle of the game (29,99€) and the guide (14,99€) though - just 57,48€ ^^;
