Every single "problem" that people are reporting has already been addressed, either in this thread or in the Tech Support forum for that platform.

In fairness the crashing issue with UE on (mainly) Windows 7 hasn't been resolved that I've seen, not blaming Bioware, they've got a lot on their plate right now - but it is still a smidge buggy.

Those aren't unique (or even more frequent) with the UE.  Which, while not good, just means that the UE-specific issues have been addresed elsewhere in the thread.

I suffered from immediate, and almost constant CtD problems myself as soon as I installed the 1.03 patch on my rig running Win7/64-bit with a QuadCore and 8GB RAM.  The "Large Memory Area Flag" fix seemed to have cleared the vast majority of crashes for me.
They resurfaced with patch 1.04, and the same fix worked again. Image IPB
(But without it, the game truly was unplayable.)

Curses - google-fu failed me on finding that, I'll have another look now I've got a more specific keyword to look for.  Thank you so much! :)

And agreed - one finished play through so far only thanks to saving after every fight/before every door and lord knows how much other fanangling with settings!

EDIT: It worked - thank you again!

Glad to hear your found it and it helped!

Yep - cracking bit of work there from the original programmer

I'm guessing/hoping with 64 bit systems being more popular (and Win 7 being available for longer) the memory issue will have been addressed already in QA, especially given how easy (this problem at least) is to resolve.

Presuming you mean "a release date for the Ultimate Edition (UE), in the European Union (EU), then it's already out.  Been out for months now.  Came out the same week as in North America.

Here's a bit from Fernando's post answering some language questions about the differences between the various platforms earlier in the thread:

Fernando Melo wrote...

... Best bet is to continue to check with local retailers - alternatively, you may consider purchasing from a webstore elsewhere and shipping the box (some retailers may offer free shipping).

The PC & X360 version has English VO, and English, Spanish & Italian subtitles.
There is also a X360 German VO / Txt version (like Origins did).
PS3 has English, French and German VO, and English, French, German, Spanish and Italian subtitles.

Sorry for posting this here but i don't know where to go to ask Bioware any where else. But i was playing Dragon age Journeys and i can't figure it out. is the server offline for this? I unlocked 4 achievements 2 of the items and all i need was the last achievement for the 3rd item. but i got on today and they were gone b/c i figured the auto save would be all i need. So is there any other way to receive the items? i tried sending a message on the link below of the website but it keeps saying the server address not found. the code is: 1.60 BAD_CODE 1868

so if you can help than most appreciated.

What country?

Maybe someone will know a good retailer for your specifc location.  I can think of many possiblities if you want a UK store, but I'm guessing you probably don't. Image IPB

I read all 34 pages of this thread.

Any updates on a Mac version of this? I bought DA:O on PS3 way back in the day, before Mac was an option; I never got any of the DLC (not even the included Stone Prisoner) because I never connected my system to the Internet, and I never picked up Awakening because by then, I was already considering getting the whole thing for Mac.  I've heard that the PC version was a better experience overall (especially if you're a big fan of tactical play), and if I'm doing the Ultimate Edition, I'd rather experience it that way (especially since Dragon Age II is reportedly coming out on Mac, too).

I see the Apple logo on the Ultimate Edition page, so I imagine (hope?) that it's still happening. I know that BioWare does their Mac versions through TransGaming and that the ball is more likely than not in TG's court right now, but any update at all would be cool.

Quoting my post because I'm still curious after five days without any word.

The last thing that Fernando Melo posted here surrounding the Mac Ultimate Edition was:

Fernando Melo wrote...

I am also just trying to confirm if they are indeed doing a [Mac] UE - stay tuned.

...and that was four months ago.  There's been nothing else hinted or revealed on the matter in this thread since then.

I also listened to the DA Podcast - Episode 16: The Ultimate Edition, in which Mr. Melo said that he though Mac UE was happening, but didn't have details (after admittedly overlooking Mac entirely in the initial blurb, which I thought was unfortunate).  Ultimate Edition talk starts at 42 minutes (with Mac talk at 43:48, if anyone cares to listen).

Since Dragon Age II will be available on Mac, I would really like to play through Dragon Age: Origins on the Mac to hopefully be able to import my saves.  The Ultimate Edition is something that I am very interested in purchasing if/when it comes out, as I never had the chance to pick up any DLCs or Awakenings on the PS3 and prefer the tactical playstyle of the PC version anyway.

With the Origins UE well over three months out on all other platforms and Dragon Age II launching in one, it'd be great to get any sort of update on how the Mac UE is shaping up, if at all.

Don't know anything specific about the release arrangements for the UE, but I do know that the previous BioWare titles for which a Mac version was created were done WELL after the PC and/or Game Console version went out.

BioWare outsources to TransGaming for porting games its work onto the Mac, so nothing even starts until the PC version is finished. And even then, it's TransGaming setting the schedule as to when, (or even if) they'll get to it. They can always say, "Naw, we're too busy..."

Remember, the PC version of DA:O was going to release in March 2009, but was held back until Fall so it could be simultaneous with the Consoles. The Mac version didn't come out until December 2009. That's NINE MONTHS after the PC one was ready. (Never mind the marketing hype that TransGaming's Vikas Gupta spun about "Cider Technology allowing a quicker turn-around". Image IPB )

Based on that lag, I woudn't expect the Mac flavour of the UE before Summer at the earliest.

OK, question....how exactly do you get the DLC included in the Ultimate Edition? I registered my copy with EA, but whenever I try to get the DLC from the main menu in game, it still tries to charge me for it. And there was nothing inside the case with a code for the DLC either.

PS3 version by the way.

asked myself that question when the game first loaded and installed on my PS3, the the Ultimate Edition of DA:O for the PS3 version (at least my copy) has all the DLC included IN the disk, here's what you do, when you load up the disk on to the PS3 and the game starts when it reaches the main menu, QUIT the game using the PS3 button ..... and then select the Downloadable Content Menu, where you can happily install all the DLC you want, be warned however that the DLC's will INSTALL directly on your  PS3 hard drive, so I suggest you free up some space before installing

btw you dont need to be online to get the DLC, I don't have an online connection for my PS3 when I installed the additional DLC from the PS3 game disk (that is why I LOVE this Ultimate Edition! Everything in ONE complete game disk ~ no downloading necessary! not like the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 :crying:)

hope this helps unless of course you're Ultimate Edition is UK or EU version,  I seem to have read somewhere that the people who made the game disk for the PS3 on those versions "FORGOT" to include the DLC on the DISK (but I could be wrong w/that info tho):D

It was posted by Fernando Melo, earlier in this thread.  And yes, it's the UK version of the PS3 disc, and it's missing RtO.  BioWare has a fix through the PSN.  Affected users can download the missing piece.

I received the Xbox 360 Ultimate Edition today for Christmas and upon inserting the "Game Disc", it will say "Reading" for about 3-4 seconds and then immediately cut right to "Open Tray".  I've searched Google for this issue and noticed quite a handful of people were having the same problem, and someone had said to try and clear the hard drives cache and install it.

That obviously wouldn't work in my situation as the 360 won't even read the game disc.  It read the 2nd bonus disc just fine and I was able to download/install all of the content including Awakening, however that doesn't matter as I need to game disc to actually play.

I know for certain that there is no issue with my console regarding hardware, or even the DVD drive as no other game that I own has an issue.  The console itself is a 2009 manufactured Arcade model with the Jasper chipset  and a 120gb hard drive if anyone wondered.

I'm tempted to just opt for a return to Amazon and ask for a replacement, but I figured I would ask here to see if anyone knows of a resolution in the mean time as I am sure the replacement would take about a week or two considering the holiday's.

Thanks in advance.

Same here but the problems are with the second disk !

classic symptoms of a damaged physical disc.  I'd look into returning for a replacement.

(OK, this is already over in the "PC Technical Support" forum, but it's kind of buried there and several people have asked about it here.)

I have some help for certain situations when the DLC Content from the PC version of the UE won't "authorize".  This happened to me when I made a completely NEW install of the UE on a completely different drive than my original game.

After installing "successfully", (no error messages) I started the UE version and ALL of the official DLC showed up as "Available Content" (to "Buy"?!?) and ALL of it showed up in my "Installed Content" as "unauthorized".

The problem?  The "daupdatersvc.service.exe" hadn't installed because the folder where it was now located was NOT in the default "/Program Files" path, and so it didn't inherit the appropriate permissions to be a Windows Service.

Once I installed and started the daupdatersvc.service.exe, all my "Installed Content" DLC  was now "enabled" and everythng was gone from the "Available" screen.

Instructions for doing this came from another thread here on the BSN, quoted below.
NOTE:  As stated in the text, the folder paths identified in these instructions are the "default" ones.  You'll have to adjust as required to match your own environment:

Dokim06 wrote...

....3.2.3. Installing the Dragon Age Updater Service if it's missing.)

For Windows XP :  Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type cmd and press ENTER

For Windows Vista & 7 : Run CMD as an administrator  (as per section 3.1.5 of the original post, see above.)

2.)
Navigate to "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727"
by performing these commands to do so:
cd..
cd Microsoft.NET
cd Framework
cd v2.0.50727
In case you don't have the exact same .NET Framework version, the Framework path won't work. In that case you perform a normal file search in Windows for the file installutil.exe and note the full path and substitute yours to match.

3.)
[enter the command] installutil "C:/Program Files (x86)/Dragon Age/bin_ship/DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe"
Make sure to use the path where your game is actually installed,  (something like "C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Dragon Age" for Steam, for example)

[enter the command] net start DAUpdaterSvc

You could also copy installutil.exe in your Dragon Age/bin_ship/ folder and simply dragging
"daupdatersvc.service.exe" on installutil.exe. As you can see it's way too hard to list all the possibilities here. It shouldn't be to hard to adapt this to your specific folder locations for most users.

Worked for me! Image IPB

I started playing DA: O when I heard a sequel was coming out and nowI have to agree with Haatsmurf. I originally purchased the Collector's Edition, Warden's Keep, and the Shale DLC, now I'm a little flummoxed to see that I can buy the Ultimate edition to get Awakening and the DLC I missed at a price cheaper than it would cost me to just get Awakening and the DLC I'm missing. No way I'm going to rush to buy any more games from EA when I know I can wait awhile and get everything at a better price. I'm hoping EA will show some loyalty to its existing customers by offering the expansion and DLC at a reduced price for those of us who already purchased the game instead of attempting to only entice new customers.

Waiting until the price goes down is a tried-and-true technique in the gaming world.  Nothing new here with what EA is doing.  You want it on Release Day, you pay the full retail price, maybe even a preumium price (but get any pre-order/special offer loot!)  You're willing to wait 12-18 months, you can get it on the discount rack at Target for US$14.95.

Look at it this way:  If you get the UE now (it's discounted at several on-line vendors) you're STILL paying less for what you'll be adding than all those same items would have set you back if you had purchased them when they were first released.  DA:A alone was US$20...
