There are more threads like this all over DA:O general discussion and Bioware site tech problems...

Some people have had success by disconnecting (not just logging out) from the internet and then starting DA:O. It won't ask for login when you resume your game and the DLC doesn't need authorization. I've always been able to play DA:O this way when I was away from home. Still, this only seems to work for some people, but it's worth a try.

For all those who have been posting problems with the UE in this thread, be aware that this is a news and announcements forum and it's not tech support. You'd definitely be better off posting in the tech forums or contacting EA support directly (you'll find info on how to do that in the tech forum for your version of the game).

I thought I should point that out for those frustrated with no response in the News and Announcements thread.

Kevin, you are of course right. However, I think people are looking for an official announcement from Bioware about the server troubles and just find this one thread, so they try to find out here what's going on...

I know it's not your problem, but a clarifying post from our Makers including a time frame would be nice. (and would save Bioware phone/mail support workers a lot of work and abuse...)

As I have mentioned in a post, the EA reps I have spoken to are great, but they are not the developers and can only do so much troubleshooting. If it's the servers, which it most likely is, there is nothing the tech support reps can do unless they can go up some magical elevator, knock on the door to the BioWare servers and kick them. The guy I contacted was awesome. Quick, efficient, but his steps didn't work. It's gotta be the servers.

Considering that the servers are also used for mass effect dlc, I would say with this cheap buy option for ME 2 it will be up post-haste once the get thousands of people buying it up...

I guess if I already have everything but Awakening, this wouldn't be for me.

True. But when they finally patch that bloody thing, then it will be news, right? Think of it less as "what's the problem?" and more "what's the latest on the problem?"

This is true, but many people are posting in the tech support thread, but no official word (from BW mods or staff) has come out in those threads. Also, from other users' posts, EA support avoids mentioning problem with server as much as possible, and no timeline either.

What a load of crap. The DLC error has been around for a year or more. Just contacted Tech Support and the best they could say was that their engineers were "working on a solution" and it should be resolved "soon". A devastating drm bug that has been around for a year, and I'm supposed to believe a solution is comming "soon".

People should know that the DLC isn't usable before they pay good money for broken content. I am super pissed off right now. Treating paying customers like criminals and denying access to puchased content is grounds for a class action lawsuit in my opinion.

Sorry you're having problems, haraets.

It's unlikely to have anything to do with being the UE, though.  Crash-to-Desktop (CtD) issues have been occuring with DA (especially during that fight, in particular) ever since patch 1.03.  One set of issues seems to be related to the interaction of visual and audio effects, and Sloth sure does create a lot of them!

Two things helped me:

1)   The "FO3 Large Memory Area Flag Fix", which edits the header of "daorigins.exe" to enable the game to use more than 2GB of RAM.  This "delays" the impact of the known "memory leak" problem. Since I have 8GB, I can go quite a while before the effects of that are noticable.

2)  NOT using the pause key during the Sloth battle (hard, I know.)  Triggering effects that then must be suspended when Paused appears to make the problem worse.

You might also look through the PC Troubleshooting forums, and see if anything there makes sense for your situation.

Hope that helps! ;)

Thanks, Thandal! ../../../images/forum/emoticons/wizard.pngMeanwhile, I got it- after patching to 1.04 and battling (nearly) without the pause key.

How long has this version been out? I'm still waiting for EA's e-mail about a fix for the DLC I purchased with this game. I don't recommend buying it until this essential part of the package is fixed.

You don't say what your issue is, so no one here can help.  And your registered owner logo shows you have the UE, so what other DLC did you "purchase with this game"?

Hi!
I just want to get this straight for PS3!

I already own a Dragon Age Origins game.
I just ordered Ultimate edition.
As far as I know it's just one disc?

When I insert the disc it atomaticly installs?
And after that I can play Awakening? (The reason I bought this game is because I want to play Awakening with my character I created for the Origins game.)

So my save files is untuched? I can just keep playing?

Thank you for answer! :)

One naive question about DA:O UE but is all the issues that exist so far fixed? Also for the Mac version? I also want to get the UE but still hesitate because of the errors that i can encounter.

Well I just installed the Ultimate Edition for PC, retail version (with discs). I had no problems with the DLC's, they all have check marks beside them and they are all authorized. It was a 2 DVD disc install. The discs had two keys, one to register the game the other for the DLC's, don't mix them up! You don't have to download the DLC's, the discs already have them and they are installed during the 2 disc install. You just have to authorize them by going to this site at redeem promo code page. I did this before running the game.

My first problem was that it took me 3 tries to register the Ultimate Edition Key. The 3rd try worked, that was after I refreshed the page. When I entered the key for DLC's at redeem promo code, it accepted it first try. It showed all the extra content (DLC and others like items/quests) at the "your registered content" page. Another tip is do not install 1.04 patch after installing UE cuz UE is already 1.04 and doing so can break the game.

My main problem is that my character stats are not updating properly. I have 2 characters already and my page says 0 characters (Error Code 1000 - No characters were found in your online storage). All that it updates is achievements for DAO.

I did some research and found out that the content uploader is picky when uploading character stats (like swap items, use save not quick save, someone has too view your profile, only certain people are picked for uploading, etc) and a ton of gibberish triggers so that it will upload ROFL. My Dragon Age 2 character stats upload fine and speedily, my DAO:UE doesn't. It also took 2 days to post my achievements (no stats though). Not that it's UE's fault, my guess is that DAO servers were fail/overwhelmed/bugged since DA2 works fine. Can you guys see my DAO stats/characters?? Someone view my profile so my stats will upload ROFL. But doing more research lately,  I think this problem is affecting everyone now regardless of what you do.

I think patch 1.04 fixed these DLC/Authorization bugs though, it's in the patch notes. But  the profile stats are not updating still.

:(

@lionalio87
AFAIK there is no UE for Mac

no, unfortunately, the patch 1.04 (already in the ultimate edition) does not solve the DLC / Authorization bugs if you're logged in. If you play offline, however, there are no problems.

Try to make a normal save, not a quick save, and wait for one, two hour for the profile update.

Upon buying the Ultimate Edition I had so many problems just trying to install the add ons. For some reason it would not populate the Addins.xml properly. Needless to say after 3 weeks it finally started working. But the main thing they need to fix is the constant crashing. I can play for a minute CRASH. i can play for an hour and CRASH.  It is pretty sad that when you put out the ultimate edition and it has so many more bugs than the collector edition did when it came out.

Nope - there's still a number of issues being reported but there is another patch in the works - there's more info here

The UE is the EXACT SAME code as the previously released material. It's just all gathered together in a single collection (2 discs for PC, 1 Blu-Ray DVD for PS3, not sure how many for XBox) and given a slightly different install routine to ensure you're patched to ver. 1.04 . (It also puts the DLC under "\\Program Files\\Dragon\\Age", instead of under the player's profile, if anyone cares.)

So any issues/problems/bugs remain the same as with any other editions.
