It will NOT include the retailer pre-order promo items, or the collector's edition items.

I'll add my voice to those others expressing disappointment over this information. I too was hoping for a Dragon Age version of the Baldur's Gate II Ultimate Collection package (which contained all of the Baldur's Gate II game content, including the pre-order bonus on a bonus disc and the collector's bonus in the patch on the expansion disc).

Since the DAO Ultimate Edition doesn't seem to contain anything I don't already own, it's unlikely that I will be purchasing it. I do hope that BioWare will offer the currently unavailable promotional content to fans at some point in the future. I would certainly purchase a DAO package that was truly comprehensive, especially if it also reduced the need to be connected to the internet.

DA: O Ultimate Edition looks like a very good deal but none of the announcement details answered several of my questions.

1. Is the saved game file still console locked on the PS3 version?

2. Are the Awakening and DLCs on the disc or require download?

3. Are the Awakening and DLC contents locked requiring one time usable code?

4. If a code is required to either unlock the contents on the disc or download, are the contents restricted to one gamer account?

The reason I have those questions are because Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition locked the extra contents on the disc and restricted to one gamer account. And Uncharted 2 GOTY included a code to download the extra contents.

I play with multiple gamer accounts and getting very cautious after seeing newer games now locking the contents either on the disc or download to one account only.

Would this mean that with this edition people could play their DLC while not connected to the internet? Because that would be a pretty useful feature to those who travel around a lot or have unstable connections.

You can do that now. Once you authenticate your DLC, you can play all you want without being connected to the internet at all.

Hey Eurypterid
Do you know the answers to these questions? Fish face and save? Both kinda important. Thought the saves more univirsal.

That sounded like the extra contents are still locked with a code.

Once the contents have been "authenicated", can other accounts on the same console still have access to the contents? This question applies to both PS3 and X360 versions because I'm trying to decide which console version to get as long the contents aren't locked to one gamer account.

This announcment made my day. I don't like relying on downloadable content; I would rather have all of them in a disk. Hopefully this means they will launch a Mass Effect 2 Ultimate version too.

Zenjamin: I have no idea what you're referring to re 'fish face'. And I don't know about the saves, but I assume since you'll be able to install UE right over the regular releases that the saves will be compatible.

Vortex: I don't know about console versions. My response was directed at the person that was wondering about being able to play off-line on a laptop. I was pointing out that this can be done now with the current DLC as long as it's been authenticated once. I don't know if there will be authentication required for the DLC on the UE.

I'll only get this if I get official confirmation that the Sentinel armor and vigilance bug is fixed.

If I got it right it authenticates every time you start the game. That´s pointless. Once again, people who didn´t pay for it don´t got hrough that. I guess the UE buyers won´t either. Are the rest going to be stuck with it?

Thanks. I wish game publishers just make it clear on types of restrictions the extra contents will have. From the past games that have code to either unlock on disc contents or download, the game publishers usually hide the information knowing most gamers don't ask until the they have activated the code to realize the restrictions.

I'm suspecting the Ultimate Edition extra contents will have some kind of restrictions. To me, contents restriction is the biggest factor in determining if I want to buy the games.

You only have to authenticate it once. After that, you can play all you want without connecting to the internet.

That's exactly how I feel as well.

Just to be clear (for everyone reading my posts): I'm not a BioWare employee and I don't have any inside information on the Ultimate Edition so I can't answer anything the devs haven't addressed already about it.

Blood Dragon Armor has been confirmed by Chris and he also confirmed no other promo or collector's items will be included.

I can understand those who didn't buy the game shouldn't have access to the extra contents. But how do game publishers address those who do buy the games new but play on multiple gamer accounts? I do this especially with multiplayer games for different online scores. Even with single player games, sometimes I do the same.

If the majority of the DLC content is on the disc, I don't see how there can be restrictions. I could be wrong though.

You can install Ult Ed & DLC over top of existing DAO/DAO-A & DLCs.  Previous saves etc will be fine.

Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition has the extra contents on disc but still
locked with a code. Having contents on disc today doesn't mean anyone is
always allowed to access them. That is the whole reason I wanted to know about DA: O Ultimate Edition extra contents.

Really? I also bought BC2:UE recently and I think I downloaded the extra content with the voucher codes.
