What you get at the end of that hour
is twenty minutes of hack and slash coupled with the pleasure of
straining to hear any audio through the headsets provided
After watching everyone in front of me
choose to be warriors, I plumbed for the more personally realistic
rogue fella – two blades and lots of sneakiness. It didn’t make much
difference, it was all button bashing mayhem whatever character you
chose to play as.
At least standing in the queue gave me
an opportunity to see the differences between each character’s
storyline, and I can’t say there was much of a difference to any of
them in this demo. It’s completely linear, funnelling you along a path,
popping up Hurlocks along the way, giving you a big, meaty Ogre to have
a go at, adding new members to your team as you go and letting you jump
from each one at will. Magic or sword, speed or strength, you had all
the options at your finger tips for every fight.
Sounds terrible .. worse then i´ve feared..

I had the opportunity to play to DA2 this morning at Paris Game Week, and it's exactly like it has been described.
It's fun if you are searching for a new beat'em to play - it probably won't be if you're expecting a "RPG".

You didn't play (all of) DA2, you played a demo of it. A demo which am going to assume is a tiny proportion of the game. It would be like playing a demo of DAO that was basically based on 'The Tower of Ishal' event near the start of the game, no doubt if you had played that pre-knowledge of how epic DAO was you would be making the same baseless accusations.N30795 wrote...

It's a demo. It's not the whole full damn game they have available. You have 100's of people in a single day who want to play this game and the max amount of time it takes for you to get through the demo is around 10 minutes, not including the cinematics and other things.
Overall (after playing it) DA2 is fantastic. Sure it's a "hack and slash" combat system, but you can still do the advanced moves, pause, tactics, etc. And remember, they want you to be well armed and equipped. The demo had a very fast regen rate and your stamina/mana recovered within moments. The only time it stayed like "normal regen" was during the ogre fight, in which the difficulty changed from super-mega easy to Normal and you took hefty amounts of damage. Other than the ogre fight, Hawkes health stayed relatively above 95% for me, 90% if I stood and did nothing.
Personally, the fact you judge a game based on a demo that was meant to be played in a short period of time and most likely the difficulty being lowered to a ridiculous level (to the point where even Very Easy doesn't apply anymore) is just madness.
I played the demo several times (though the 2 days I was there) as both a female/male/rogue/soldier and both had exceptionally different combat styles.
You have to realise that if the demo is too hard then people won't try it. Also you want to make it easy so people fly through it and experience the game, therefore allowing other people to play on it.
*Puts thinking cap on peoples heads* Think people ^^, think!

Finally some good spots.. Sweden.. but FINLAND? and not Denmark -.-
Finland meh...
You better give us more love.. Americans already got enought on everything.. they get everyting faster it's time that we got something and they can sitt and wait
Why should Denmark have more love than Finland?
I just love seeing the Scandanavian countries fight, it's like watching female mud wrestling.
What's so special about Denmark anyway? It's the most forgettable Scandinavian country out there. People ignore it and care the least about it. This event list is just another proof of that.
Also Finland isn't really part of Scandinavia.

The 1 x360/screen soundless setup at Digiexpo was pretty underwhelming. My demo also apparently started halfway through (as I didn't get to pick gender/class at the beginning) and, well, since there was no sound, it wasn't far from playing a Bio game blindfolded. Glad I got in with a free invitation, as I only went there to see DA2 - I would have felt really ripped off if I'd paid the 13 euros they asked for admission...
Whoa REALLY?! You should have seen it on saturday. Yeah ok they still only had that one gamestation setup for DA2 but they got the sounds working and all. Plus there were 2 Bioware developers talking about the game. They had a powerpoint presentation and they showed the cgi + gameplay trailers and on top of that they let us see some new gameplay material, i believe it was from Kirkwall(?).
Kudos to you Bioware guys, loved the show and thanks for visiting our damp, wet and chilly little country!

When my time finally came to play the demo the EA rep. told me that the first part of the demo was this exaggerated version of Varric. I told him that I already knew about all that but he replied that he had to tell everybody this.
I played as male rouge. The new animations looked good as did the improved graphics. I also liked the new dialogue wheel as well that the player character now had a voice. The voice overs was also very good. The combat was a bit dissaponting though. It felt really hack 'n' slash and even though you could be tactical there really wasn't any point in it since it worked just as well to just press the attack button like a maniac. The only real difference I noticed between the exaggregated combat and the normal combat was that the enemies didn't die as easily in the normal combat.
But as I said it's probably not fair to compare the PC version of DAO to the Xbox 360 version of DA2. The overall impression of DA2 was still good but i wasn't blown away by it.

Played the demo at Gamex in Stockholm yesterday. Had to play it on the Xbox 360 since they couldn't get the PC version working, so I wasn't used the controls since I've only played DAO on PC. There was also only one Xbox available and the DA2 'booth' was really small so it was very crowded around it.

I was at GameX too, but I didn't bother to even try the game. I would just have ruined it with the horrible setup that they had. Placing it right next to Rock Band 3 made it impossible to hear ANYTHING and the fact that there was one single station available to play it was appaling.
At least they could've moved it further away from the Rock Band madness and gotten some damn headphones. Geez, it was an awful presentation of a presumably awesome game.
I guess it will be awesome when it's out and no unpleasant EA representatives are chattering and being generally annoying... and no THUMPA-THUMPA-THUMPA from Rock Band in the background. Grrrrmbl.
EDIT: Oh, and for the record I've already preordered it and am super-psyched. I just wish EA wouldn't be stupid and make half-assed presentations.

Yeah, I thought as much. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it during the weekend, my work schedule is hectic and I only could steal away an hour on friday.
Glad they got it sorted, I've already preordered the game so obviously demos aren't making or breaking sales in my case.
