Bug: Ohgren not appearing

In the Orzammar part of the plot, I was at the part where I was supposed to go into the Deep Roads to find Braska.
I saw the conversation between Loilinar and Ohgren while leaving the diamond quarter. Ohgren was not in Tapster's Tavern, and I was able to get into the deep roads without him appearing at all.
I made it all the way to Braska before I realized something was wrong. Ohgren's voice was playing but he wasn't in my party, and I hadn't even talked to him.
Does anyone know how to fix the bug, either in the game or in the console?

This is my first time through this quest but could we just add Ohgren via console after the dialog at the Anvil?
*spoiler*
Dunno if it makes any difference but I did the frist quest for Behlen then offered my services to Harrowmount and have been playing both sides since (avoiding the proving ground bug).

Did you use the selectparty script?
Cos according to the Wiki that has been known to break Oghren if you use it before you get him.

I posted this to EA:-
Hi folks.
Not sure if anyones emailed about this already but I cant find/get Oghren. Like at all.
Hes no where to be find in Orzammar or indeed in the Deep Roads. Apparently I am supposed to find him as im leaving Orzammar for the Deep Roads, or at the Tavern. But he is in neither place.
So i thought, well this is a bug. So i used the console to add him to my party thinking it not be a problem.
Thing is. It gives me two of him. Two! Its really really weird.
So um yes. Any ideas how to solve this problem?
I think perhaps the game "thinks" i have "should" have Oghren and behaves as if I do because ive entered the deep roads looking for Branka. But the scripts to spawn him after seeing him argue with Lolinar havent appear to have run, and maybe the script saying he has joined the party has run. So I have a non spawned companion I think.
I think this because when I run the cheat to add him, runscript zz_addparty oghren it spawns two of the dwarf.
I tried running "dropparty" script in the console and readding the party members with the "addparty" script and it seemed to fix the two Oghren problems (seemingly confirming my suspicion that the game has run the scripts to add him to my party but not actually spawned him so when I run add party it gives me two of him). But it gave me more bugs on it own.
First Dog was called Dog, and no option to rename him again; and Shale while I could readd him and he talked etc he wasnt there, not spawedn, no portrait or chracter or anythin. Weird.
So my attempt at a workaround didnt work out. Made things worse actually. Thankfully I saved right before it.
But I would very much like some help/a legitimate helpful answer to this some time within the next year please.
Thank you.
And after nearly 2 weeks heres the reply I got:-
Greetings,
Thank you for contacting EA Games Support.
At first, please accept my apologies for any delay in addressing your issue. Please know that due to the release of this popular game, Dragon Age of Origins we are getting contacts in volumes comparing to normal flow. Though we are trying to get back to every one as soon as possible a little delay is inevitable.
The query you have submitted is of an in-game nature, and unfortunately, we can only provide help with technical-related issues (bugs, patches, et cetera). We recommend consulting our game forums for help with game play related questions. Chances are there might already be an answer to your question in our forums. Many veteran gamers visit our forums regularly, and they love to help their fellow gamers. Our official game developers and moderators also frequent our forums, providing further tips and resources. If you can’t find an answer to your question in our forums, we encourage you to go ahead and post your question there. You should receive an answer to your question shortly thereafter.
We also recommend the following online resources for in-game questions: Websites such as Game Spy (www.gamespy.com), IGN (www.ign.com) and Game FAQs (www.gamefaqs.com) offer information and walkthroughs on almost every game. Keep in mind EA does not review or maintain these sites.
You might also want to consult the official game guide for the title in question. While not every game offers an official strategy guide, most of the prominent titles do. Prima is the leading publisher of strategy guides. Their website is available at www.primagames.com. Prima’s guides are also available at every major retailer.
Thanks again for contacting EA support. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you ever have a question of a technical nature, you can also review our Knowledge Base site at http://support.ea.com.
Thank You,

This actually rendered me speechless for about 5 minutes solid. I sat gaping at my screen in shock.
The guy clearly hasnt read anything I said beyond "I cant find Oghren" and immediately gave me a generic fob off completely unhelpful response.
Im not surprised that they didnt help me; im more gobsmacked at just how sheer INSULTING and condescending that response is.
He hasnt even bothered to read what i wanted help with. I mean I know they are idiots but I didnt realise that their idiocy extended to NOT DOING THEIR JOBS. Its their JOB to read the Support questions properly and give a helpful asnwer.
If they cant help (which is pretty much all the time) they usually give a generic "Dont know what could be wrong but have you tried a reloading the game?" message.
This moron hasnt even read what my problem was.
It beggars belief!
Can someone from Bioware come and boot them up the backside for this idiocy?
EDIT:
So I replied to them tearing them a new one for not even bothering to read my question.
And I now have a reply within about 3 hours. Speedy or what?
Basically it says they cant help with game bugs as the responsibility lies with Bioware to address them; and we should post on this forum for OFFICIAL SUPPORT for bugs and not email them.
Hello again,
Thank you for replying to us again.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. The issue you are facing could be an issue with the mechanics of the game. Unfortunately at customer support we can only help with issues with the game itself, we cannot make changes or correct game bugs. You can however report this at the official forums, so that the game developers can take a note of it and investigate this further.
Official game forums can be found at the below given link: -

If there is anything else we can help you with please let us know.
Sincerely,
Andrew

Have i got that wrong?
Because it looks to me that Bioware tells us that this forum is for unofficial community based support with the occassional input from them.
And EA says that no this is the official support form for game bugs.
So in the first post he tells me they deal with bugs and not issues as they are Tech Support. Then he tells me that no they dont deal with bugs, they deal with game issues and Bioware deals with bugs.
Um, What?
