I would like to know your opinion about what you would have liked to see in the OC that actually isn't. I created a poll, please, vote. And in case, make a comment here!
For "deleted contents" I am referring to all those dialogues, cut-scenes, areas that are just in our NWN2 folder but have been not included in the game!

I voted for more areas freely explorable. The OC just feels way too much like a railroad plot. I suppose more side-quests would help with that, but in order to make more side-quests it's almost a necessity that there be more areas and free exploration of them so the player can stumble upon them.

With respect, Vaalyah, why bother? Obsidian is never going to update the game and the chances of a true NWN3 are slim to none. The future of NWN2 is in the hands of the community.

Judging by other threads, I believe Vaalyah is interested in expanding the OC through modding. Some things (e.g. conversations) can be handled through the campaign folder and overrides, while other things (e.g. new areas) are more complicated to implement.

OC surely could use an option to _not_ recruit most of those annoying followers. (Edit-removed spoiler-ish comment)

@Sieben: Lugaid is right. I really would like to mod the OC, so one of the basic thing is, I think, hearing some opinions around about what's missing. :-) I have my own ideas, but hearing also others' opinions is certainly useful! So... what do you think is missing? :-D

@Popcorn: from this and the post about the romances, it seems to me you are more for a "single hero" campaign... Excuse me for asking, I don't want to sound rude, but I have a curiosity... maybe you are choosing wrong games? maybe you would appreciate more games like the Gothic series, when you are just alone and you interact with NPCs just for getting and completing quests...

Oh, I see. I don't read all the threads so I missed that. I voted in the poll and left a comment.

@Vaalyah, no. I love party-based RPGs, I also love when followers in such RPG are either silent or at least logical (though, I admit, I liked followers from MoTB)

I also dislike when those followers are forced on you. I mean, PC should have an option to not recruit at least some of them since, they are not that crucial to you for completing mainquest. (spoilers removed) And also have an option not to recruit those who are crucial after you have no use of them (spoilers removed)

I also want to know what this thread's doing in forum, where No Spoilers Allowed ?

You can simply say "I would like to see more explorable areas, since I love exploring area no-plot related as in BG!". In this way, you are able to express your opinion avoiding spoilers. :-)

I haven't finished the OC yet due to hardware problem, so I don't want to read spoilers just to express an opinion! Here's the reason why this thread is here :-)

However, you can simply leave all your NPCs at the Flagon, if you don't want to have them around ;-)

Yeah, or simply I could have an option not to recruit them in the first place. *shrugs*

With all due respect, I wasn't asking for such advice, I was merely expressing my opinion on the subject.

Wait, you haven't even finished OC? And you already want to enhance it? Isn't it a bit...hasty?

If I somehow insulted you with this post, please, accept my apologies, it wasn't my intention.

Pretty much what The Curt Jester and others said. I voted "More areas freely explorable", but the key word is "freely". I'd like more freedom in general: exploring, side-quests (something like BG, as you said), more choices regarding quests, story and companions (without giving spoilers, KNOW that there's a companion that I'd like to get rid of)... I don't care a lot about romances, I'm ok with or without them.

I haven't played the OC Makeover, but I believe the author wanted to add some plot changes/choices. I don't know if he managed to do it finally.

@popcorn: even if I am not at the end of the plot, I do see many missing thing that I would like to be implemented. So, where's the problem in thinking about how to improve the game? Even if I haven't ended it yet ;-P

@ Arkalezth: who is creating an OC Makeover? Could you please tell me the name? (well, the nickname)

Vaalyah, when you reach a level of competence with the toolset to be able to mod the OC, why not create your own module? Then you could make it however you wish.

Kaldor Silverwand.

Link: NWN2 OC Makeover SoZ Edition

It adds some of the SoZ features, like party creation, changes in the death system, etc. I remember a discussion in the old forums about some possible plot changes, but as I said, I don't know how it ended. Kaldor can tell you better.

@Sieben: it could be interesting but... do you know Italian? Because each time I create adventures for D&D, I usually like to make investigative plots, like in Agatha Christie's novels. But of course, translate everything in English would be really difficult! O_O

Thank you, Arkalezth!

No, sadly I know no Italian. English is my native language, of which I am very glad because my attempts at learning other languages (Spanish, French, German, Vietnamese) have convinced me I have little talent for it. I'd hate to try to learn a language as weird as English starting from nothing and admire those who have done so. I do have decades of experience as a reviewer and editor (textbooks, scientific papers), so if you ever need that kind of help, keep me in mind.

The features are described on the vault page. Basically I was attempting to improve the game by adding some of the components needed to provide players with more choices. This amounted to adding the SoZ party system, modifying the death and rest systems, adding the SoZ crafting system, altering the UI slightly, and providing some plot choices with a specific companion. I also corrected some bugs and added some items. Making the existing companions completely optional was not attempted because they are simply too integrated into the storyline to remove. It was completed earlier this year and I have been working since (as time permits) on a Makeover for Mask of the Betrayer which is discussed in this thread. Input is welcome. I'm most of the way through modding Act II.

Unlike most mods the Makeover is installed in the OC campaign folder rather than the override folder. This prevents it from interfering with other campaigns. It is not compatible with mods like Kaedrin's that alter the same scripts or mods that alter the UI or companion conversations, but is compatible with Tony K's AI and should be compatible with most other mods.

The original link in the legacy forums for discussion of the OC Makeover is here.

@Sieben: thank you for the offer! In case I would finally make something on the OC or as a module, it would be wonderful to have a reviewer! :-)

@Kaldor: thank you very much for the explanation. Unfortunately, since I haven't finished the OC yet (long story) I don't want to be spoilered on MotB or SoZ so... is it a problem for you if I write a PM for asking some details of your work?

That's fine. I think though that you would have an easier time collecting ideas if you finish the OC first. Then go to the legacy Bioware forums and look for threads that contain complaints about the OC (or just use Google).  Then look at mods like the Romance Pack for NWN2 OC-MotB. Worrying about spoilers is going to keep people from speaking freely.

New explorable areas NOT plot related + side quests are already on the main agenda for our alterations, Including more complicated landscapes that may or may not be more difficult to navigate, unlike the "beaten path" in every outdoor area in the OC >.> I'm going back to my D&D monster manuel for...(excuse me, Grampa just broke something...)

This thread can exsist here, the only thing I can see that contains anything of spoilers has been your comments, which I will edit after posting this.

as I was saying before we lost another tea cup...I'm going back to my monster manuels to get out-of-game ideas for quests, situations, etc. With recruitable and non-recruitable NPCs for the OC...we ARE exploring the concept, but the massive amount of re-scripting is a little daunting, and on a side note, we may be so bold as to add MORE NPCs, and/or alter existing ones to meet our...uh, purposes >.> Eidt: some NPCs may be being either replaced or  personality altered, or merely given more dialogue. Warning that our alterations will mean MORE DIALOGUE AND NPC INTERACTION, hopefully on a positive note.

Can I get a yea or nay on these plans?

Please avoid spoiler-ish discussion in this topic.
