I've played through ME2 so many times, but I definitely have tired it out as this (re)playthrough is a bit dull. Out of boredom I started up ME1 with a new character, because I let my simple greed for renegade points effect most decisions in ME1.

but the gameplay and faults of ME1 are just a bit too much for me. I haven't even gotten off the Citadel and I'm already bored, and dreading the Mako segments, and the long Noveria tread, etc etc.

browsed through masseffectsaves.com to see if someone had uploaded a save with the choices I would have made but sadly, no.

So I have accepted that I need to play through it myself if I want my decisions :pinched: I was hoping cheats could help me make the process quicker (higher levels, items, etc), but the ME wiki says

"Using the cheat codes mentioned on this article may alter your profile
permanently, and tag it as invalid. Therefore, it is recommended to back
up your entire profile for the option to revert back later on."

tl;dr - Will using the cheats to quicken a playthrough invalidate the save for a ME2 import? anyone know?

I haven't tried cheating myself, but I have read some developer posts on this forum about cheating. In those posts they said that they don't support cheating, but neither do they intentionally punish it. They did emphasize though that because they don't support it, cheating is done at the cheater's own risk.

That having been said however, cheating in things like extra experience, equipment and credits should be safe enough. Equipment and credits don't even transfer (experience doesn't transfer directly either, but a high level in ME1 gives some bonuses in ME2).

I've used some experience cheats, item cheats, money, omnigel,  grenades, talent point cheats with out running into any issues.

After about the 20 or 30th time through the game I just wanted to play around not chase minerals and gear.:D

I'm currently making an import for ME2. I used cheats to bump my level up to 60 (cba grinding it over 2 or 3 playthroughs). I hope this doesn't cause any problems. I don't think it will, as I did cheat to unlock some achievements in ME1 (unlocking bonus powers I hadn't used enough times and the like), and it didn't seem to screw up anything in ME2.

I am the same way i will play the game straight as intended for about 5 or 6 runs if the game warrants that kind of attention, then after that i just want to kick ass. I have not noticed any trouble importing a save from ME to ME2 where i used a money cheat (the money cheat is the only one i used anyway).

I can say I cheated myself the remaining XP needed to get to level 60 at the end of each of my 6 import runs so I don't have to go through a second and third gamethrough to get the nice level 5 bonus in Mass Effect 2. Other than that, I "cheated" myself some nice, ingame unavailable armors, which I don't understand why they didn't make it ingame. The rest was genuine and I can say I didn't run into any problems up to now in ME2 (five playthroughs with those imports and still counting).

Well, the "cool armors' are really overpowered, I think if they are available in the game it will unbalace ME1 heavelly.

Fisk uses a Colossus level II armor, imagine if it was available to us since the beginning, Shepard will be unbeatable since the start then. LOL

I don't think he's referring to the Colossus armors as much as the Crisis/Partisan/Hoplite style of armor. Those armors are actually worse off than Colossus/Predator with only the Crisis/Hazard type competing somewhat. They just look cool, an example of the armor style would be Wasea using Partisan armor at the end of Samara's recruitment mission.

Carried over a couple of profiles that used cheats for armour, geth super gun, money and xp. They have not appeared to have any issues with ME2.

However I do not doubt for a second there is a major potential for cheats to break some carry over decisions, so always keep backups and completed profiles without cheats. Lest you have to play ME1 and ME2 all over again when you realize you can't carry your character into ME3.

Yes, I know the talking is not about the Colossus, I was just using a example.
If you think about it, Colossus is only available from level seven equipment and beyond.

But for example, a Hoplite light armor level one has 38 of damage protection, 91 of shields and 60 of biotic/tech protection.
This is too much, the armors available to Shepard in level 1 hardly have more than 80 in shields.

If you pick the armors available and compare them with the same level of Crisis/Partisan/Hoplite, the later always are more strong, with the exception of Colossus (wich lacks good biotic/tech protection).
Colossus level II, usually the armor Fisks's have, is 57 damage protection, 135 shields and 22 biotic/tech protection.
No wonder the guy don't die instantly unlike the rest of the enemies. LOL

That's why I think Crisis/Partisan/Hoplite armors aren't available for Shepard, the game will become too unbalanced.
BTW, The Predator you are talking about is the "M" line, isn't?
Nice set of armors indeed, sometimes I prefered them to Colossus. :)

Didn't invalidate anything for me. ME1 from EA Store and ME2 from Steam (in case it makes a difference). But I didn't cheat a lot, anyway, just credits and skill points on my first playthrough because I couldn't survive it otherwise, haha. (yeah, that's what you get when you play your first shooter...)

As far as I know, cheats used in ME1 do absolutely nothing to invalidate save games imported to ME2. I've used cheats to give myself enough XP to get to level 60, added additional skill points, gave myself multiple bonus skills (although I don't recommend this, because it gets quite hard to see), used the Geth Super Gun to blow my way through Pinnacle Station etc. All of these save games imported nicely over to ME2 without any issues.

I used console commands to grant myself all Achievements (because they were wiped in a previous uninstall). Imported to ME2 just fine. But for some reason, the Achievement for unlocking lv60 didn't work and I was still restricted to max lv50 on first playthrough.
