Textures in high or medium folder ?

There's something i'm not sure to understand.

Let's say i create a custom prop :

I make a prp_"name"_0 and a prp_"name"_1.
I assign a "name".mao  and a "name_1". mao in order to use different textures sizes (my "name".mao refers to 512*512 textures and "name_1".mao to 256*256).

In my module texture folder, do i have to put my 512*512 textures in high folder and my 256*256 textures in medium ?

Is it the engine with decide when to use my prp_name_0 or _1 at a certain distance ?

Help will be appreciated.

The high and medium folders should be for in-game quality settings, not LOD scaling. In other words, you'd require two sets of each if you wanted to include both High and Medium textures. In your example above, High would be 512x512 for LOD0 and 256x256 for LOD1 and Medium would be something like 256x256 for LOD0 and 128x128 for LOD1.



As far as LOD swapping, yes, that's (presumably) hard-coded into the engine. There's no way to alter it that I am aware of.
