I had the same problem, but I managed to install the patch through the DAUpdater, NOT through the stand-alone patch.

A big "Thank You!" to the cold North, this has worked like a charm! :D

Running as administrator worked for me as well - thanks to whoever figured that out.

Same ol' same ol'.

Tried fresh installs, running as admin, various formats... it gets to launching the command window, then fails.

I had this problem recently too. In my case it turned out to be a corrupted file. This was not only the case with Witch Hunt, but several other DLC add-ins I was downloading manually to store for future convenience. I had to grab a few of them several times before finally getting a version that consistently installed properly. Very weird.

I get this error every time, even on a fresh install trying to patch to 1.04

"The patch failed to apply because a file to be updated was different from the expected version. Please try re-installing..." blah blah

You would have thought that the folks at bioware would have communicated this information anywhere. Running as the admin has fixed the problem, I only wish Bioware would have provided these instructions.

Thank you forum for providing the support that bioware cannot.

Hi, I bought DA Ultimate while the sale was on last week (50% off), and though I have been warned about digital purchases, I was new to the potential problems...

This is what happened... After downloading and installing DA Ultimate it played OK for a day. Then I decided to download all DLC from the social bioware website, which were included in the purchase.

The Witch Hunt module would not install at first, so I forced installation as admin. After this, DA would not load anymore.

I got onto chat with support, and they suggested to uninstall DA and reinstall. I asked if this would require redownloading the whole Ultimate package (over 12 GB, right?) as I have limited bandwidth in Canada. They said 'no' so I did what they said. When I went to Origin to reinstall, it started downloading the whole thing all over again!

When I complained to support they said 'sorry' and I wondered why support was being outsourced to India (I think). Bummer, right?

Now it is the first of July and I have more bandwidth so I am allowing Origin to download Ultimate again (ouch to doing much else this month with the internet...).

My question is, how to I resolve the Witch Hunt issue? If I try to force installation again as admin, I expect the game will not load anymore, as was the case the first time I tried this. I am also unsure if any of the other DLC mods will also similarly cause my DA to stop working, as I installed them all at the same time, without verifying if the game would work.

Question 2: I don't have the bandwidth to keep redownloading the game from Origin, how can I preserve a local copy on my HD in case I need to uninstall and reinstall yet again, after applying DLCs?

Thank you for your help...

Frustrated

See the solution round up and DLC troubleshooting FAQ pinned to the top of this forum. As for how to retain a copy on your hard drive, there is an option under the settings menu in Origins to keep a copy of the installer after you have used it. Simply check the box.

Yes, the in-game version and the stand alone are the same unless you downloaded and installed before 1.1 was released.

I'm running Windows 7 and there is no "run as admin"-- I have admin rights as I'm logged in, but no dice on the install for wh. Any thoughts-- (on an amusing note, I read through all of these... and oddly no person identifying themselves as "bioware" or "ea"-- guess my friend was right...

If you read the description to this forum, it is a peer help forum.  No official support here.  Official support is provided by support.ea.com.

First, just because you are logged in does not mean you have administrator rights (Windows 7 does have a run as administrator mode).  Check your user account to make sure that you are an administrator. (Windows button-->Control Panel-->User and Family Settings--> User accounts.  It will say administrator below your user name if you are an administrator.)

Second, the easiest way to install the DLC is to simply use the in-game installer.  Have you tried that?  Log in to the EA servers in-game.  It will check for available content.  go to the downloadable content menu and click on the available content tab.  Click on WH to get it to download.  The stand-alone installer for this DLC sometimes simply fails out.

More potential solutions are available in the solutions round-up thread pinned to the top of this forum.  If you require more help, please see the read-first thread also pinned to the top of this forum.

@Mehul;  Go to your "Player Entitlements" page, (https://social.biowa...ntitlements.php) find the "Witch Hunt Download - Stand-alone" (it's an executable) download it, (save it) double-click it. Image IPB
