All the way through my gameplay of both origins and awakening I've been wondering how an online or LAN play with your friends would look like during the storyline or something alike.

I mean the gameplay is pretty similiar to World of warcraft ( IMO ) and playing in a group in that game has worked pretty well hasn't it?

Thought about the possibility of playing it on some kind of module like the ones made in NWN or something similar to that.

Since I haven't seen anything like that anywhere I made the conclusion that it's basicly to hard to create modules in Dragon Age by urself, way harder than it is making modules in NWN but perhaps there could be some modules that bioware are designing that are made for theese things...

I started to rememeber way back when I was sitting at home playing diablo 1 with a friend sitting on a computer next to me, smashing zombies, etc, together. I think it would have been pretty cool playing through the story with your friend. Having two players on the other hand, affecting the story-line in different ways seems pretty difficult to accomplish but they have made it work in other games so why not in Dragon age?

Seems to me that having a friend that's moving around, backstabbing people with a rogue while u are in the front smashing Darkspawns as a warrior could be a pretty cool thing, no?

*rolls eyes* Please use the search function, as this topic has come up enough that you'd see that there are a lot of people that disagree, as well as those that would agree. But, Bioware decided during development that the game would only be single player.

As for modules, there are some available, both that integrate into the main campaign and those that are separate like in Neverwinter Nights.

Not gonna happen because games like NWN weren't popular enough.

Don't know it was because of that. I do rember player diablo I myself with my brothers (and that was a special time in my gaming history). I think DA was more focused on dilivering a great story (and it was way better than the diablo story's) and not the multyplayer part that they said they wouldn't suport multyplayer

Actually, I believe it was that the multiplayer investment wasn't worth it; I've heard that only around 10% of the player base of Neverwinter Nights ever logged into multiplayer of any kind, and their decision to focus on single player was based on that.

Thing is that I've experienced the same thing with NWN since playing online isn't really at all as playing single, although I think it's a waste not to make something that would allow u to play with ur friends, atleast on the same aspect as on Diablo. Feels like it could be a very funny thing to do.

Btw, sry for "multi-posting". Did a quick search (perhaps some more effort could have been added there :P) for a thread like this but didn't find any.

Bioware doesn't want to do things halfway; I think Bioware would rather do a high quality Single Player game than a decent Single Player mode and a mediocre Multi-player mode.

NWN and NWN 2 are still going strong. How will DAO fare in an equal amount of time from now, one wonders, especially with no multiplayer? I tend to suspect it'll soon be forgotten once a few popular new games emerge. Some Mods wanted to make a multiplayer Mod, but Bioware put the kaibosh on it.

Those that love DA will still play it even after ten years have gone by, if the popularity of the Baldur's Gate games is any indication. I think it's the same with NWN and NWN2, since most players of those games are still playing it because of the single player mods available, not because it has multiplayer.

Multiplayer NWN2 doesn't seem terribly popular mainly because of how much work you need to do to get the thing to work. It's not very conducive the serendipitous discovery as, say, NWN1 or almost any multiplayer FPS which just connects to a server and downloads all the assets needed. However, I am pretty thrilled at how well it works and I love the squad-sized narrative driven multiplayer stories that you can experience with it much more than the MMO kill quests (though those have some pretty cool narratives as well).

I'm kind of surprised on the number of servers still running NWN1 multiplayer modules though. That probably has a bit to do with the linux support I bet.

I think it's kind of sad that Bioware didn't at least have the capability to have multiplayer games in Dragon Age, but hey, priorities.

You know. Baldur's Gate 1&2 are still in people's minds not because they excel at multiplayer, but because they excel at what they are intended to deliver.  Same with Dragon Age.

Hell. If you're looking for multiplayer RPG that excel, look toward Diablo
