Just did this part last night and it was so hard. I have been playing on normal but after wiping multiple times on that fight I had to set at easy temporarily to get past it... did anyone else run into this problem? My party is me (dual wield warr), Leliana, Morrigan and Wynne.

The one with all of the archers with the full party stun effects, and no real place to "hide" to take out the melee bad guys first? Yeah. I ended up having to rush past the front line bandits and take the platform where the archers were standing, then try to hold it agains tthe melee guys once the archers were down. Took a lot of healing, but eventually this worked

ldyshayna has the right idea - I often break away from the fray and go after archers or whomever is causing the serious problems (like blood mages) and leave the pack to fight - I got slaughtered by blood mages and some challenges like this one the first time around - now I'm doing pretty good.

Ah... The backalleys in Denerim. They were indeed annoying. And I even had Sten with me carrying his big two handed axe around, instead of my personal shield Alistair. (Wanted to see if Sten would be any interesting to take with me, he said absolutely nothing)

Sten, me (Healing mage), Wynne (same) and Leliana. Sten kept going down really quickly but we could keep the healing up. Had to use some spell combinations (such as glyph of paralysis + glyph of repulsion) to keep all the archers out of the battle though... Just didn't work when they could stunlock me.

they were tough, but between me(mage) and wynne it went pretty smoothe. cone of cold on the melee guys and a fireball to the archers and all that was pretty much left was the boss, an archer, and two melee guys. another fireball killed the archers lilianna and allister finished of the two melee guys and the boss was left to defend for himself. wynne gave health when needed.

wash rinse repeat.

the last one was hard for me as well. About halfway thru the fight I put it on easy as I was out of mana, and low on potions (I gave like 20 away for a quests in the Denerim tavern). I did back up to separate the groups a little, but the first group was still large and still went after my ranged. I hate it when I can't keep mobs where they should be (on my tank). Problem is when Lelianna uses scattershot, it attracts alot of aggro.

oh btw, I did find a place to "hide" from the archers. Assuming we are talking about the same alley. There's a small little cubby hole off to the right I retreated to.

But it wasn't that great a solution. Things got crowded in there with all the melee guys, and getting the camera angle right was near impossible because of the buildings behind the camera (camera angles in this game generally suck). And I couldn't tell who was attacking who, and had a hard time controlling my tank. So I had melee guys pounding on my mages and archer/rogue. Had serious aggro problems. But at least I didn't have too many archers pounding on me (maybe one or two)

depending on what it looks like, i use force field on a mage or the strongest character there, then just slaughter them

Yeah.  Next time maybe I'll get a mage character with that spell.  Alas, I had Wynne, who I focues on healing and such.

Wow! I found it a breeze. Wasn't too hard, kept up the healing with potions and made sure we was kicking some arse. Myself backstabbing (Rogue), Alistair tanking, Shale off tanking and Morrigan DPS. Only thing I found hard in Denerim...

***SPOILER***

was the blood mage abandon warehouse. Had to take it in turns to stealth ahead, take out the mage asap and have the rest of the group catch up and clean house. Most of the time my rogue died before they came especially the hounds hounding my arse! But thats done now *phew*.

It's a a pain in hard :) I used Wynee, Morrigan, and Shale.

Place traps and run to the small corner do the mobs have to pass trough them, keep everyone on hold untill the archers are left then finish off. There is a few spots where you can hide from arhery.

It's alot to do with positioning.

Oh yeah... that abandoned house destroyed me the first two or three times I walked in there. Blood mages are scary.
