I know the animations are different, I'm talking about the actual damage, if it's indeed as you say then the staff itself should hurt whoever wields it, you can't stab someone with a staff so it's safe to say you'll just sort of hit them with it, that's physical damage for you, any other kind of ranged damage depends on the staff itself, in the leaked gameplay we saw Bethany firing a spirit bolt, I guess that's the basic staff attack, if the staff is specialized in fire it'd be a fire bolt and so on, there'll be nothing like a physical bolt, I think by physical damage he meant the melee.

I'm almost positive Spirit Bolt is the equivalent of Arcane Bolt because you can see the icon when the player selects her for a moment on her pre-set ability slots.  She's using fire projectiles (I.E. a fire staff) when she's using the default attack.

Also, everything's staff dependent to a degree.  He also mentions that mages always have a staff and all animations incorporate the staff in some way.  Not sure what you meant by the low cooldown on Spirit Bolt, but Arcane Bolt recharged quickly too.

No problem.  I think I saw Bethany using melee attacks on the live stream.  Her projectiles were fire, but when she did melee her staff still left streaks of fire as it struck the enemy.  That was my first big hint that it was still magical.  Just...magical melee?  lol

Sounds good, at least Elemental resistance will factor a lot more in gameplay now.... now where's that damn code?

I haven't received an email yet, although I'm not sure which email address I used either, although I've checked the usual suspects. I haven't received one DA2 newsletter though so unless there hasn't been any, I need a way to find out what email I used. Any ideas?

On the DA2 site, it asks for your EA account credentials. So check the email you use for the EA and Bioware sites.

One question, though. I'll more than likely play DA2 on the Xbox, but I do plan on getting a new PC sometime later next year, and knowing me I'll probably buy both DAO and DA2 for that at some point. Will this code work there, as well? I mean, does it work on my account no matter which platform I'm logging on from?

Even if you don't get your code its not like its going to be the only staff-sword in the game, or your character is gimped without it. The DA:O DLC items were good, but certainly not must-have items.

It should be on the front of the DA2 main website, although you could only get the staff if you signed up for the newsletter a while ago, while they were at the San Diego comicon, I think.

I swear I signed up when this was announced on Facebook and I signed up for the newsletter but I never received the "DA2 Destiny Trailer' Newsletter.



So I resigned up again just then so I hope I'll be able to get the item soon.

Funnily enough, I got my letter with my code for the staff today, and although I signed up (even made a facebook page during the two days before that was dropped) back then - I never got any newsletters LOL Got what counts, though!

As I said at the start of the thread.... PATIENCE!!!! These only started getting emailed out yesterday late afternoon. IT will likely take a few days for everyone to get theirs (I am glad to see thay are coming in over the weekend as that will remove some of the wait), but the Newsletters usually take 3-5 days for mailout, so it could still be a number of days beforr you get yours.

So I input my code, and it accepted it, forwarding me to my page with listed "registered promotions" or some-such. But I didn't see it in there.I backed up to try again, but as I suspected, "this code has already been used. The staff isn't in my reg'd stuff though. Thoughts?

Chris Priestly has it right. I usually got the DLC availability notifications over a week after I had already purchased them.
