So does anyone know how to get the vfx that you create to be useable in the area editor for like a campfire?

i'm curious about this too. I'm assuming that it's part of the next step of the build.
I've been making an indoor area, putting walls, floors, and lights in a room. I'm now exporting it. Then I'll be opening it as an area (and not a level), and will be attaching doors to door frames, etc. I reckon this is where I'll be putting fire in the fireplace, etc.
We'll see I guess...

The wiki mentions possible syntax can do it but not remotely sure which could it be.

IF you can't get it to work out of the box, you can do the ol' NWN hack, of putting an invisible placeable inside the VFX and call it "Campfire" for example...then when they mouse over the campfire, they'll get the glow of the placeable, etc etc.
Not sure if the VFXs can be used or not like that.

well, progress.
There are plenty of VFXs already in the game. Found in the level editor under the model section, filter to "fxa" and you'll see a bunch. look:

BUT, i have placed a fire one in my fireplace, but it just shows up as a bounding box. exporting now, will see if it shows up. seems kinda lame if you have to export it to see them, though.

I'm having the same problem myself, using the campfire made fom the tutorial in my level. Once I can export (fighting with the pathfinding crap atm) I'll see if it shows up. Even if it does ingame, it sucks if we can't see the modified lighting effect with the vfx in the editor itself, unless we really missed something somewhere?

I was wondering this too, got thanks to the tutorial a nice fire, but don't get it to my level or area. Wondering if i'am missing something.
