i know a game called elder scrolls do... any species could be infected with a vampirism disease becoming a vampire (high elf, dark elf/blue elf, imperial, nord, orge, khajit, human, etc)...  are there vampires in Dragon Age Origins too? Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls are very similar... they're both like the Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons, or Zelda...

... and werewolves and the undead. So vampires wouldn't exactly be out of place.

Yay for Vamp DLC...

Indeed, there should be a DLC added just solely for vampires. And their elite boss leader should be Edward Cullen.

If they would create a Vampire DLC, then all they had to do was make pictures of the Blizzard crew and turn them into characters. :P

Same for everyone at EA.

And then you got your vampires.

Anyway, the very existence of the werewolves was simply because of... well... you know...
And the undead because of... well... you know...
And the demons and possessions and the like because of the Fade.

GAH! I can't spoil anything of Origins.

It is not a large leap of canon to have bloodmages that extend their life by consuming human blood. Make it addicting and bam, you have vampires (sort of)

They exist in the setting, but not within the game.

Also, DA vampires are humans possessed by hunger demons and are generally described as bestial and mindless. So they're not the kind of vampires who are prancing around dusty castles and seducing virgins or even the kind that sparkles in the sunlight. They're more like 30 Days of Night vampires.

See, I think this, THIS HERE, is how Vampires should be if anything.
Mindless and bestial, just run around ripping everything apart. So basicly Abominations and the already Undead, sounds alot like Darkspawn aswell. Guess we don't really need Vampires then? Shame. Posted Image

I'd pay money to be able to kill Edward Cullen again and again and again. I'd pay even more money if I could watch Sten do it.

I disagree. The classic vampires (Dracula, Lestat, Nosferatu, etc) are not mindless at all! They are all very seductive and smart, but at the same time cold and brutal. IMO it is what makes them so cool.

Oblivion vampires gave me bad memories.

I spend months and months trying to look for the vampire cure, and then I gave up and decided to make a new character. From then on in Oblivion, I avoid all vampire infested dungeons.

You can shoehorn any kind of vampire you want into any setting, but in DA, vampires are the product of demonic possession, specifically the kind involving a hunger demon. These are evil spirits that only exist to consume everything around them and whose hunger never abates.

As such, the flavour accomodates the "vicious, animal-like vampire" type, not vaguely bisexual well-dressed prats with lisps.

I wouldn't mind World of Darkness type vampires. Sadly that's not what most people think of these days when vampires are mentioned.

No joke, I never want to go near another vampire ever again! I just started a new character on Oblivion and the cure is worse than the disease Posted Image

A Bodhi type would have been cool. Or a NPC like Valen, especially an expanded upon Valen (if you played Weimer's mod then you know).

I found it very cool in Morrowind. It was incredibly hard to actually get infected even if you really tried, so I'm not sure why it's such a big problem. Maybe it's worse in Oblivion.

Was kind of worthless being a vampire though, since it didn't exactly make you popular in the cities.

You could become a werewolf as well in Morrowind. Equally pointless but fun I suppose.
